Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 59 and cloudy for the day. Weather be weird. I shall head to da cave this mornin’. I’ll be sooooooooo glad to be back in my own house and sleep in my own bed.
Butters enjoy your weekend. Maybe hubs will take some time to think and things will be better.
OK, I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I shall purtify and head south.
I was talking with the engineer who’s been keeping me the busiest. Nice guy and really easy to work with. In the course of the conversation, I found out he’s 33. I’m old enough to be his mother! And the kid who shares my office is 22 - I’m old enough to be his grandmother!
I’m surrounded by children!!!
Josh, the 33-y/o, has threatened to start calling me Mom. Isn’t that adorable…
I was commenting to **FCD **just yesterday that since jerk boss who hired me is gone and new boss took over, the atmosphere in the group is so much lighter and congenial. When Dave was still there, I seriously considered quitting. But now, I’m having a good time. Couple that with the 4-day work week, and I’d say my post-retirement life is pretty doggone good.
The rains came yesterday afternoon and are still about, which has dropped the temperatures considerably (51F this morning). Need to get out and drop off some bills and get my 2018 car license tag, among other things.
Committed to go to Knoxville, TN 15-18 June to referee soccer games in the Area tournament (teams from multiple states). Porbably be about 90F there…
Butters, take a deep breath and have the weekend before you make any final decisions.
I dunno, **MetalMouse **- your retirement exhausts me!!!
The back of my shirt is soggy. When I went down to deal with more laundry, I noticed the area outside the basement door was pooling. Not good - we’ve had basement floods too many times. So I went out, lifted the grates, and cleared the drain, and away went the water. Some leaves had gotten on top of the inner grate and blocked it. But it’s all good now.
In fact, it looks like the rain has temporarily stopped, so I’ll go back down and make sure it’s still clear. I do NOT want to mop up a flooded basement again. No fun!
The dog is still sleeping, I can hear him snoring out in the kitchen. I’ve been working from the kitchen so I can be out there with him, but since he is sleeping I’ll stay in the living room and let him be.
I need to call my aunt today. I had weird dreams about her last night.
I’ve been so wrapped up in the last week of school and the dog that everything else is being neglected.
Congrats to Beamette!
Yay! for going home Swampy!
My ex-bf Wayne had a red belly piranha name Pancho. I hated that damn fish.
I’m a little concerned that the check I sent for my state taxes hasn’t cleared yet.
I got another nasty email from somebody threatening me and telling me to ask my sister what they are like. This time to my other email and from a different name. I think it must be some kind of scam, but I have no idea what kind. Although I do know somebody it could be, she’s loony but harmless. I’ll keep the emails in case something comes of it, but I suspect nothing will happen.
Butters, I’ll tell you the same thing I tell all my friends, don’t do anything until you talk to a lawyer. Make sure you know exactly what your rights are and where you stand, especially financially, before making a move.
I hate to see people get divorced, even though I am so anti-marriage for myself.
blurf i am sure all will be ok but I will watch the damn TV when and what I want and forever how long I want and he will just have to suck it up. He ain’t my daddy.
Still got my bag in the car and will enjoy a quiet weekend I hope.
There’s been incredible flooding near my area, including near the family home, though I think the family house is all right. It was so bad that my family’s little town was actually in the national news, which never happens otherwise.
Laundry is done. I’ve got a pot of soup started. I loaded the dishwasher. I ate the leftover fried rice for lunch. And I prevented Ziva from sneaking into the bedroom and hiding under the bed. She’s not happy, but there’s no way we could get her out of there and into the crate for her trip to the vet later today. So she’ll just have to grump.
I’m thinking I might assume the recline position and see what’s on Netflix that interests me. I’ve tried a few comics who I’d enjoyed in the past, but they all seem to be turning to the crude side. Seriously, if you have to make jokes about peeing your pants, maybe you’ve reached the end of your career in stand-up. Here’s hoping I can find something worth watching.
Hubby is home. Yay! The weather is back to grey and rainy. Yay!
The house is a mess (boo). I have a cold (boo).
Swampy glad you can get back home. It’s wonderful to sleep in your own bed.
Mooomm glad the job is better now. Good jobs make life much easier.
MetalMouse pack the Gatorade for all future coaching weekends! No more heat issues please!
Tomorrow I think we’ll go get 'Beamer a new fish for his 30 gallon tank. It’s set up with plants and one fish. The water readings are holding steady. Time to start adding a few friends for him (and his cat) to look at.
I made chicken and rice for the dog. I stirred half a can of dog food into it. We’ll see how that goes over.
I gave him some honey ham lunch meat this morning to get his pills into him. I had bought it a while back and since it was vacuum sealed it was still good. I thought it smelled so good I would make a sandwich with the leftover hamburger rolls. Didn’t happen, a fly got into the bag and I guess Sah-son didn’t notice when he put the twist tie on, so I threw the rolls away. Bummer because I was really hungry.
Hey, there are intelligent thieves in the world too, ya know.
They’re called lawyers.
Actually that is a meme that really needs to die. Stupid people quite often do have jobs and successfully so, and intelligent people, especially intelligent people who become specialists in a fairly narrow field, can and do become unemployed, and sometimes, unemployable.
I took advantage of the (mostly) sunny weather yesterday to mow the lawn and spread some more poison to get rid of the ground hornets. There was this one little rain cloud on the weather radar that made a bee-line for our house and got everything wet. I waited it out on the patio and was able to finish up, though.
I think I got a little sunburned. I need to find my lawn mowing hat. It has a big floppy section on the back that comes down over the back of my neck. It looks silly but I like it.
Today will be a light day. In a few minutes I’ll get purtified and go pick up some prescriptions, and then, when Wifey gets back from her ‘sketchy artists’ group, (that’s what they call themselves), we’re going to drive to the bustling metropolis of McMinnville, Orygun for something. I forget what.
I don’t understand what anyone would want with a piranha. But then, I don’t know what anyone would want with a snake, and people have them. I like snakes, but I don’t want one in my house. Same with spiders.
**FCD **came home early - yay! I watched The Thomas Crown Affair on our cable company’s On Demand site. I’ve got a sorta beef stew simmering on the stove, and in an hour, we’ll be heading out to the vet. Somehow, we need to get Ziva into a crate. THAT will be a challenge.
Meanwhile, I’ll keep working on the shawl I started last night.
Back from the vet - all critters have been shot and they’re all healthy. The vet even clipped the matted lump off Ziva’s butt - it was a *big *clump of hair!! We just finished soup and we’re about to assume the chillage position.
I finally got upstairs to take a shower, put on clean clothes. Sah-son made me a taco for dinner and while I was eating it the bottom opened up and I got taco meat and sauce all over my clean shirt.
The dog isn’t interested in the chicken and rice. I thought it smelled pretty good and if I hadn’t put dog food in it I would eat it.
