Well, I’m all for meeting at the entrance, but it occurs to me we might all be ariving at different times what with unexpected delays, traffic, etc.
So I’m thinking it might make sense to meet inside. Those who make it earlier can peruse the Faire. And if anyone is vastly late, we can make plans to go back to that same meeting place on the hour.
There is a petting farm in the Children’s realm. Shall we meet there? It’s the only place I found on the website that seemed like an easy-to-find place to meet. No idea how far it is from the entrance, but I am sure it is well-marked.
OK, I think the petting zoo will work, unless I can think of a more appropriate or easier to find location in the next 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, what time is good for everyone? Since the fest only opens at 10 am, that’d probably be too crowded. Is 11 a.m. good? I’d imagine we’ll leave a meeting window open; that is, we’d hang around until, say, 12 or whenever anyone shows up.
Also, can anyone bring a cellphone in case lost Dopers are looking for us?

Apparently, the Detroit Star Wars FanForce chapter is attending the MI RenFest the same weekend that we are. So don’t be surprised to see a horde of Imperial Stormtroopers running around while we’re there. (Hell, I was tempted to wear my Boba Fett costume, but it’s still 20% incomplete.)
Also: Farmer Jack supermarkets has discount tickets available if you want to spare yourself a few bucks. I forget what the extent of the discount is, but hey, any savings is good. For you Arbor Dopers, there’s an FJ in Ypsi on Washtenaw, just a little past US-23.

Hey, all! I went to opening weekend and wanted to let you know about a few things:
The petting zoo has a llama!
The drumsticks are especially delicious this year.
There are fun games like axe-throwing, knife-throwing, and using a bow.
Oh, and CrankyAsAnOldMan, it may vary depending on your provider, but most people weren’t able to get any reception on cell phones, including me. 
Just so you know ahead of time.
It definitely looks like I will be able to be there on Saturday. My mom has agreed to watch my children for a few hours. My hubby is planning on coming along with me as well.
So, have we decided where we are all going to meet up? At the entrance, or at the petting zoo, or what?
So far, it looks like I’ll be there. The ever-noble mrblue92 has once again agreed to transport my sorry carcass. He’s such a peach.
