Felareth casts Faerie Fire on the Chief, a Dex save at -1 for dc16 and rolls a 2. Fighters have advantage.
Ghân-buri-Ghân holds for Hejren who Fireballs all 7 trolls followed immediately by Ghân ’s Wall of Thorns . 6 of the 7 trolls fail vs. Fireball (slox saved) and take 28 or 14 respectively. A circle of thorns traps 5 of the trolls and leaves Trolgar & Ugoki no escape except into the light. Only Trolgan saves vs. the Thorns. 32 or 16 respectively. Vuz drops from the spells. Overall the trolls in the thorns look terrible and Alzom is near death.
Thoroncir Charges the chief. On the charge he crits the Chieftain and comes around again on a second short charge of 20’. Each charge causes an extra 5 points of damage on a hit. He has a modified feat. The chief is now marked .
Trolgar throws rocks at Thoroncir. He hits once for 3d10+6 31 !
Bitur takes aim at the heavily injued Trolgar just inside the cave and in front of the thorns. He gets a solid hit and then misses by a little but uses the inspiration provided by Felareth and hits. He does 20 more dropping Trolgar.

Blood covered already Gwaelur attacks the Troll chief from the front. With advantage and blessing he hits with his Great Weaponed Axe twice. 42 more to the chief.
Ceol charges in, strikes twice with his Great Sword and unleashes his Divine Smite with a 2nd level slot for an extra 3d8. He does 57 more. The Chief is bloodied but standing.
The trolls in the thorns action dash to leaves the thorns for the safety of the cave. Leaving only Chief Kreg to attack. He tries to drop Ceol but with the disadvantage to hit thanks to Thoroncir marking him, he misses. The Chief then swings on Thoroncir. He misses once and then finally hits. Doing 22 points. Thoroncir now has advantage to hit the Chief & will do 3 extra damage on a hit.
Felareth sends 4 magic missiles flying hitting the most injued trolls first. Alzom & Mogan drop using 2 missiles. Then 2 strike Troglan for 4.
Ghân entangles the 4 trolls trying to escape, just beyond the thorns. The unconscious ones fail automatically and Slox fails but Trolgan saves.
Hejren slows the healthy looking Ugoki as the best target. He fails.
Thoroncir uses his bonus action Second Wind : 1/rest, gives back d10+level Hit Points, he gets back 11 points. He then attacks twice with his lance but is unable to charge without giving up a opportunity attack. He hits twice more for 40 more.

Gilraen pulls Thoroncir off his horse and covers them both in her cloak and determines he’s not dead but only unconscious. She applies a Cure Wounds for 12 back.
Gwaelur charges Ugoki, he needs to take a dash action to get there. So no attacks this time.
Ceol charges the large angry troll and does reach. Ugoki AC is down 2 from the slow. Ceol realizes he’s more likely to miss with Great Weapon Feat this time and doesn’t use it. He hits twice for 34
Slox spends his round break free of the entangle.
Trolgan is running away at full speed.
At this point there are only 3 trolls left and 2 will be getting away deeper into the cave.
Ugoki is at the cave opening then the 20’ of thorns then an entangle then Slox and then 80’ deeper in the cave and out of sight is Trolgan.
Sir Thoroncir had responded to Ceol, "Yes, my friend, come, our fearsome adversary awaits. Elendil!" He had couched his lance and charged.
All too soon he is battered and badly hurt, but then of course grateful for the healing attentions of the Princess Gilraen, his betrothed, that passing fair healer of the Order of Este. He kisses her hand and says, deeply moved, “And thus I am once again indebted to you, my love. The trolls have certainly proved, not that I had ever been in any doubt, that they are not to be trifled with.”
If he can, he will arise and mount up again, not wanting his Rohirric friend to remain too long unsupported in his brave charges of the foe.
Ghan will cast Healing Spirit (as usual on the most injured party member - presumably Thoroncir!)
He tells the party how long his Wall of Thorns and Entangle will last.
(Presumably since Entangle is a Concentration spell, Ghan can end it at any time? Can he finish Wall of Thorns earlier if required?)
Ghan suggests that we heal up first, search the Chief (for keys or valuables etc.), cast any suitable spells then head into the Cave to finish off the remaining badly injured Trolls
We’re still fighting one troll and one more is just on the other side of spells. Both spells by Ghan are Concentration. So no Healing Spirit until 1 is dropped. You can drop either whenever you want.
Well, trolls were created by Morgoth, and as such, are fundamentally irredeemable, I think. If we don’t get rid of them now, they will undoubtedly continue to be a threat to people in the future.
Gilraen says, “You were correct, except for the Adventures of Tom Bombadil. There a troll taught a Hobbit to cook as I recall. It was Samwise himself that recorded that one into the Red Book. Sadly I doubt these trolls will be amenable to fair and honest negotiations.”
Meanwhile the Fighters sally forth and make short work of the last troll on their side with a little Firebolt support.
Ghan & Gilraen work on healing Thoroncir if the party is willing to wait.
Thoroncir has himself never heard of a redeemable troll, and believes that they should be killed at every opportunity lest they prey, as they inevitably will, on the small and weak.
Ceol dismounts from Leofwin, and kneels next to Thoroncir as Gilraen and Ghan work to heal his wounds. He places his hand on the knight’s shoulder.
“The trolls hit hard, but fortunately, our healers are better still. We should pursue the last of the trolls, though I do not believe that they will return any time soon, so we should wait until Sir Thoroncir is feeling hale once more.”
