I’d posted a watchlist last time that had two people up at a time, one of whom, as she offered, was Gilraen. Would she want to be up all night again?
Gilraen will try, she can catnap during the day.
Ghan agrees with Gwaelur about having 2 characters on guard together.
Ghan can catch up on sleep with his Meditation ability.
He can see reasonably well by starlight - but the party may want to make a fire, since the Crebain know where we are.
My earlier-suggested watchlist.
I’m fine with the suggested order.
It works for me, as well.
Date: May 29 Hejren Portents : 15, 20 (at least as of midnight still)
Around 2:30 in the morning, an eerie mist rises around the camp. The campfire Ghân carefully built gives it a very on glow. A chill creeps over the camp. Bitur finds himself falling asleep but Gilraen & Grávund appear immune to it.
Gilraen cries out; "A Elbereth Gilthoniel” and her bauble blazes with the light of Eärendil’s star. She begins casting Dispel Magic.
Grávund lets loose with his strange Grunting Hiss.
A strange joint attack moves in swiftly now as Gilraen dispels the mass sleep of the enemy. Undead, evil birds & wolves.
5 plated ghastly undead warriors charge the party, they glow the greenish of decay and carry long swords, shields & long bows. A sixth stands back shooting at the party.
3 big wargs race to the horses; they are as large as the ponies.
21 shambling, decrepit zombies are just within the furthest vision of Gwaelur. So they are far from the combat moving only 20’ per round.
Numerous Crebain are swarming in.
Most fearsome of all are the 2 ghostly Uruk-Hai flying in at the party just visible in the wraithworld. They are untouchable by anything physical.

Sword Wraith 4 moves in close to Gwaelur, about 20’ and appears to be ready.
So the party is aware Gwaelur is carrying
Liquid Light from Linwen, good for 4 uses on an Sword or Arrow doing +2d6 damage on any of the undead that live partly in the wraith world. It will do even more to Shadows if you should encounter them
Since he carries neither swords nor arrows on this campaign it is possible someone with an early initiative roll who has a sword may want to grab some from my sack and apply to their own sword before the Urk-Hai arrive as it should have an effect on them.
In the mean time Gwaelur will ready his shield and axe for the inbound attack, but I’m a ways down on the initiative tree so, a little help would be appreciated. Thanks.
@What_Exit check in with me on the state of play before you execute my actions for the round, but I suspect I will be going for GWM and Menacing attack to start, but only a single menacing attack. I may or may not use my action surge yet, I want to wait to see how the first 10 actions go.
I will use my repost if the sword wraith misses though and counter attack the heck out of him with sheild and axe.
Ceol will use his Channel Divinity ability to Turn the Faithless, which should affect the wraiths, ghosts, and zombies (if they’re in range); if necessary, he’ll position himself to affect as many of them as possible.
That said, he goes after Gilraen in the initiative order – if she’s already done something similar, and is successful enough that a Turning is no longer needed, he’ll go into melee with a wraith, using Divine Smite for extra damage.
Felareth will roll to his feet and cast a Magic Missile spell at one of the two ghosts, expending a 3rd level spell slot for 5d4+5 damage. Hopefully it’s not immune to force damage…
ETA: He’ll prioritise one threatening either himself directly, Gilraen second and the nearest otherwise.
The Ghosts of the Uruk Hai are orcs of the White Hand to be specific.
Ghan has no power over the Undead, so will focus on the 3 Wargs attacking our mounts.
If he can Entangle them before they reach our mounts, he will do so. Otherwise he will cast Conjure Animals (a Wolf Pack sounds nice!) and send them to fight the Wargs.
Depending which enemies (if any) go for Ghan directly, he will either get his Animal Friends to defend himself, or tell them to assist the Conjured Wolf Pack against the Wargs.
Sir Thoroncir’s longsword Arcirist is particularly effective against the undead. If he sees that there is enough time to form the party’s usual battleline, he will call out encouragingly, "Come, my friends, to arms! To arms! Let our redoubtable Dwarves take the middle of the battleline, with Ceol and myself on the flanks, as we have done so successfully before. Let us slay or dispel these foul adversaries forthwith! Elendil!"
Otherwise, if there is no time for that, he will attack the nearest, most threatening undead foe. If the fair Gilraen looks to be in any danger, he will naturally come to her aid.
If he has the chance, he will also call out to the horses to defend themselves, or to scatter if they must.
Thoroncir makes it to Gwaelur’s right to form a line and help protect his fair Princess. He waits. His sword Arcirist is glowing brightly.
The Sword Wraiths appear to be forming their own line about 20’ from Gwaelur & Thoroncir as 3 & 5 join Sword Wraith 4.
Ghân Entangles all 3 Big Wargs, Big Wargs 1 & 3 save, Strength Save vs. Ghân’s dc16 But they are slowed by the now difficult terrain. #2 is entangled.
The Sword Wraith Cmdr lets loose with 2 Long Bow Shots at Gwaelur. He only hits once for 8 damage.
Big Warg 3 gets to about 35’ from the Horses.
A heartening glow moving swiftly is seen by those looking to the south.
Both Ghosts swoop in, #1 to Gilraen & # 2 to Felareth.
Thoroncir moves to intercept Ghost #1, he swings twice and hits both times, he hit does a d8+2d6+9 for 42 points. He Marks the ghost so hit has disadvantage to hit anyone else. Does he action surge?
The 21 Zombies shuffle forward.
Gwaelur intercepts Ghost #2. His Axe passes through the foe.
more soon
Do I get a riposte manouver for the missed arrow strike?
Gwaelur activates Rilthol, his Helm of Brilliance to Glow bluish light in a 30’r doing a d6 radiant damage to undead. Both Ghosts take 4 additional points.
Ghost 1 by Thoroncir & Gilraen drops.
Ghost #2 materializes over Felareth and hits him with a Withering Touch for 15 points of necrotic damage.
Gilraen then attempts to Turn undead, this will affect the 5 sword wraiths & remaining Ghost. As a Life Cleric of Este she has a 40’ radius affect and the undead need to make a dc17 Wisdom or flee.
Only Sword Wraiths 4 & 5 and Ghost #2 save.
Let me know if the enemies are arranged for a good Fireball exploding in their midst. If they are too entangled with our guys I’ll do a Slow instead.
I’d also like to use my 20 to move up in the initiative order, tho it appears that I am too late [huh, logged in last night, but didn’t notice any new posts tho the time stamps insist there were new posts]. Will imstead save it if anybody on my team needs a crucial save.
I’ll bump you to first and say you hit the 6 Sword Wraiths with the Fireball.
Hejren’s Fireball does 39 unless they make a dex save vs. dc16. Only Sword Wraiths 3 & 4 save, taking 20 instead.
Ceol reaches Big Warg 3 and hits twice using Great Weapon Master Feat with his Great Sword. He does 55 damage and unleashes a divine smite with a 1st level spell for and extra 6 points. The warg drops. Huzzah!
No complaints.
