Mini LondonDope October 6/7/8?

Bugger (again). I’m now finishing in Reading on Tuesday, but I won’t get back to London until too late to make it.

We’re still on for Tuesday!

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, between 18:00 and 19:00, SIR!

Too bad you can’t make it, Crusoe! There’ll be another time, I’m sure.

I’ll not be able to make it :frowning:

My very naughty PhD student has just turning in the “final” draft (yeah, I’ve heard that one before) of his transfer report a week late, so I’m stuck here having to stand over him until he’s finished

Add to that someone has rearranged the undergrad project allocation meeting to Wednesday morning. I need to be on the ball for that one, or I’ll end up with all of the intellectually challenged/highly strung/downright weird students.

I’ll be there! Are there any plans, other than drinking beer of course?

Drinking other alcoholic beverages. And possibly eating some crisps.

As we are meeting in the early evening I expect some (non crisp-based) will eventually appear on our schedules.

Depending on what people like there’s a Wagamama just down Fleet Street (cheap, fast, easy), plus various curry houses in some of the back streets around there.

Wagamama sounds excellent for this kind of expedition.

Too bad you can’t make it either, Sir Doris.

Just in case you need directions: the Wagamama is fairly hard to spot (street level entrance, but it’s all underground). It’s inbetween the Cheshire Cheese and Ludgate Circus, closer to the latter, on the same side of the street as the pub.

I think I’ve actually been to that one a few years back - we ought to be OK. But thanks for the help!

Bah. Food is for the weak.

BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEER and BEE…

Aaargh, it’s started! Quick, someone point to Tir’s pint!

ooooooooooooooh!

All right, we shall be leaving at dawn, so there’ll be no more contact until we meet on Tuesday night. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, 18:00 sharp, SIR!

I still plan on coming, but I’ll be late as I have badminton. My brother will be coming too, and will also be late. (It’s genetic).

well i did a bit of recon saturday night and…
GOOD NEWS: Its just the same as i (And presumably Crusoe) remembered it - very wooden and very olde worlde.

BAD NEWS: I’d forgotten that its a Sam Smiths which means that they probably don’t serve Guinness.

No Guinness? No Guinness? Nooo!!!

no guiness in sam smiths pubs. sam smiths stout though. or nut brown ale which my dad drinks in sam smiths pubs instead of guiness.

Pfff. like i care.

It all tastes like cold coffee to me.

If the guinness drinkers get all whiny though we can always relocate to the Old Bank Of England which is about 100yrds further down the road.

I promise I won’t get whiny as long as there’s either decent real ale on, or nice wine.
