Mist and Murk in the MMP!

Awww, c’mon, MetalMouse! Do you really think I would post something she’d see?? Sheesh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Early night tonight. I’s tahred.

Here ya go! Be sure and size up. Read the reviews and Q&A for size tips.

Having finished Father Brown, we’re now working our way through Murdoch Mysteries. I highly recommend both, if you have access to them. (Next, I think we’ll give Wire in the Blood a try.)

Wire in the Blood is great… but really tough. Very emotional experience (for me). I still haven’t quite recovered. Robson Green is fantastic in it.

Pretty sure there’s no such thing. I’m pretty sure cats are fluid when they wish to be.

@BippityBoppityBoo, have you tried Tubi? It’s free (does have ads), and might offer some things other services don’t have right now. DH is also partial to Crackle

Considering they’re actively hiring right now, I doubt it.

Consensus seemed to be that callers and other departments were apparently getting hit with some sort of stupidity beam. Made for an irritating day, and the “drivers” in this area seem to be getting steadily worse.

Gods, I feel like a complete fool. Coughed up $ I shouldn’t spend, for one stupid joint at work, because I convinced myself it would make me feel better.

Came in - got rung up by the one chick there I can’t stand. (I’m allowed to call her a chick - she’s literally half my age.) I like everyone on my team, except her. Bad attitude, throws other budtenders under the bus.

Didn’t realize till I left that she didn’t give me an employee discount.

So now I have to remember, and keep the receipt, and find a manager tomorrow when it’s NOT hectic, and ask them nicely to fix … what amounts to a dollar or so.

Thanks for the support, and I’ll definitely ask the pharmacist when I pick up the Rx. I should have explained that I have a long history of rashes, most of them lupus-related. I don’t have sensitive skin; I have highly reactive skin. It has to do with mast cells and histamines and, sometimes, sun exposure. I know about docs and drug companies doing the CYA bit when it comes to remote odds of getting some rare side effect. This isn’t that. This is nellie falling on the wrong side of long medical odds in the past and having too many miserable rashes.

I’m still deeply upset about the NO’s phone call today. I’m not sure what to do. Maybe just give up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I found Murdoch’s Mysteries on Hulu and put it on my list. I hope I like it because it has 10 seasons listed, which might hold me awhile.

I tried Hinterland today, after my last NCIS-I liked it but it may be a smidge slow paced (I fell asleep a lot). The dialogue is in a Welsh accent, which with my hearing loss makes following things hard. The scenery and camera work is splendid-that alone makes for great viewing. Good acting also, very realistic and I forgot they were acting.

Pretty sure they are too and they have no shame either. None whatsoever.

I’ll go look into those. I don’t mind some ads if I’m not paying anything. Thanks for letting me know about them. I still want a scholarship to BBC. Think they desperately need a reviewer in Nebraska?

Don’t give up. Get through today. Keep fighting tomorrow.

I looked up VSS. Chilling. It’s considered a rare disease (telling the rest of the Mumpers), so nell is having to go into where very few have gone before. From what I could find no research of treatments has been published so everyone, doctor and patients, are on their own. One article I read compared it to the visual form of tinnitus-your brain is ruthlessly misfiring in both and there, so far, isn’t much that can be done about it. I have tinnitus (from the brain injury) and I know how maddening and limiting it is bit still nowhere near what VVS would be. At least my brain lets me drive and sort of read.

And I would be furious with the Neuro ophthalmologist too. Many doctors lose their shit when they have to deal with something rare to treat that may mess with their cure rate. They should imagine how we feel. My exit line? And this is the nurse talking: don’t let the bastards get you down.

nellie keep letting it all hang out here, none of us are going anywhere.

Lady SCAdian and I are a few episodes into season 8. They finished filming season 14 three weeks ago, and it will air beginning in January.

I always thought it was “tintinnitis”. Finding out that it was actually “tinnitus” spoiled one of my favourite jokes. :frowning:

You have our permission to be angry. To cry, to despair, to complain. To ask “Why me?” To be selfish at times and, of course, to fight and be positive.

You do not have our permission to give up.

Me too! And I’ve a nurse for 40 years. I realized it about 9 months ago when I consulted an audiologist about my increasing hearing loss that my hearing aids weren’t helping with. Tinntinnitis is more fun to say.

At least now I feel in good company.

I am going to echo what many have said, “Don’t let the bastards get you down.”

And it’s okay to have a good cry, followed by hot chocolate, or whatever your heart desires.

And this applies to everyone.

So after a 5 hour midnight shift, we have a 30 foot trailer full of bagged Prime Day stuff to sort to the package cars, and there’s still 20 feet of smalls bags that haven’t been unloaded yet. :grimacing: So I came home to make a sandwich and my peace with God before heading back for my regular shift.

{{{{{Everybody}}}}}

Eek, doggio!!

{{{{ you }}}}

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I have actually already been productive. I have two whole chikins roastin’ in the oven and three smallish poke roasts roastin’ in the roaster/slow cooker thingy. When they are done and cooled, the meat shall be ground and then I shall commence the makin’ of a batch of Brunswick Stew. YUM! This will be an all day thing, but worth it cause we do love us some Brunswick Stew. So some to eat tomorrow and some to go in da freezer for future eatin’. Of course, if’n I wanted to do this all traditional and proper, I’d be cookin’ outside in a big cast iron pot over an open fire all night long and add in a hog’s head. No need to be that radical though. Sup shall be burgers 'n fries just cause.

{{{Nellie}}} hope you’re feelin’ better and less frustrated today. Ask your Pharmacist about the meds. Pharmacists are good at explainin’ stuff and answerin’ questions. Mine even follows up with me whenever a new med is prescribed just to see how I’m doin’. She is da bomb!

doggio that sounds not fun at all! Still, better than Karens, right?

MOOOOOOM great present! I’m sure they will use that a lot.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy is demandin’ sustenance. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! Well, it’s morning for another seven minutes here  It’s 41F today and the weather app says “Umbrellas are for pussies”. Yes, it’s raining. The cats have taken the message to heart and are both refusing to consider venturing outside, can’t say I blame them either.

nellie you have every right to be angry, upset and to throw things if you want to. I don’t have anywhere near the kind of vision problems you’ve got but there are days when I am doing the daily routine of lid-cleaning, drops, gel tears and all the rest, and I just wish my eyes could just be “right”.

doggio with all this card and gift exchanging going on, I feel the sudden urge to order an anvil…

metalmouse people who leave on severance deals are not classed as “creating a vacancy” so those posts won’t get filled. They both come from the same team which has gone down from 5 full-time and one part-time person to just one full-time and one part-timer. The work hasn’t decreased either, so the majority of it will come to my team instead. The next six months are going to be “fun”!

I forgot to get stamps when we were at the supermarket this week, so my pile of hexmas cards remains unposted, and now I’ve run out of cards so I’ll have to go on a mission into town on Saturday for more cards and a run to the post office. Not looking forward to that much either. Ho hum.

Yet another night of waking at 2, then falling back to sleep after 4. Well, sorta sleep - I was having a rather disturbing dream about my mother and I kept waking up. It sorta took place at the house where I grew up (the house my folks sold in 1979) and I was there with Roxy trying to figure our why toys were everywhere. Turns out my mom was making the mess. Then she left for work (she never had a job outside the home once I was born) and I discovered a sofa in the bathtub (yep, full-size sofa, normal size bathtub, but it fit) with the water running in the tub and sink.

I kept trying to get someone to talk to my mom to see if they thought she was OK but they were all doing other stuff. Needless to say, I was somewhat upset when I finally decided to get up. And I think I’ll be calling my mom later today. Maybe it was a guilt dream, since I haven’t talked to her in a while?

It’s 26° here - but it looks like we’ll have some sun, so there’s that going for us. I have no plans for the day - maybe I’ll continue working in the basement. FCD and I discussed how we’re going to shelve the closet and I can get started cutting the OSB to the proper sizes. Plus there are still panels to be taken down, and I need to trace the electrical line so I can kill the breaker and un-wire the outlets. I may even fire up the stove down there if it gets too chilly. We’ve still got firewood from the last batch we ordered.

swampy, I think they’ll really enjoy the fire pit. I ordered a fireproof mat to put under it since they’ll likely have it on their deck. I may even get them a bag of charcoal if anyone is still selling it this time of year.

I talked to my daughter last night - I’ll be going over there on Sunday when Roxy is with her other grandma. That way, I can sneak the easel into SIL’s cave. Plus Daughter wants gifts to go under the tree, and I’ve wrapped a few that I can drop off. If any others show up, they’ll be added to the pile, but the delivery info for everything says Tuesday. We shall see.

More {{{Hugs}}} all around, just because. You’re some of my favorite people, even if you’re mostly just imaginary!

Happy Thursday!!

Speaking of mail - I saw on a local discussion board that COVID has hit our post office pretty badly, and mail delivery has suffered. That explains why I haven’t been getting daily deliveries - not that I get a lot in the mail anyway. But what a time of year to have people out sick!

Wear your damn masks, people!!

(quoting our governor there)

I always have the captioning on. With British shows, it really makes a difference. I liked Hinterland. Loved Shetland, if you can find that. You WILL need the captioning for that one. Death in Paradise is a pretty good one-- I think you would like it.

I must sound like Heloise or something (and yeah, I’m full of advice IRL, too ) but I order stamps online from the post office. You get a great selection of pretty commemoratives. Don’t have to stand in line.

I’m just chugging along alone, stressed to the max about, well, everything. All of my teeth are hurting. It’s been in the 40s at night and 70-ish during the day. IOW perfect weather, lots of sun, blue skies. Wish I wasn’t consumed with every variety of anxiety during every waking minute, but I guess it’s the times… BTW the slippers I was promoting are THE best ones I’ve ever owned (and probably the cheapest). My feet were toasty warm all day yesterday. To say that in December… it’s a miracle.

I’m off to take doggie Sweetie to the vet. She goes every three weeks for what we call her “spa day.” Bath, nails trimmed, anal glands, Adequan shot, cold laser treatment. Seems to help. She’s aging… another thing I’m anxious about. Her companion Buddy declined over a period of two years. Dreading that with Sweetie. Not sure exactly how old she is, as she just showed up at my house in the country in 2007. She was fully grown, maybe as old as two, so that would make her 15. :slightly_frowning_face:

TTFN.
