Bumba, that’s good news about getting off the meds. I’m sure your wallet is thrilled, too.
Young lady, you best make it a good one, is all I have to say. Mika, you know, of course, since FCM gave you permission, you have to have the MMP up before she goes to work at sump’n like 3:45 A.M. EDT Monday morning, don’t you?
I get to go to Gainesville, FL for two days next week. Yeehaa! I told the grand poobahs in Tucson I’d do this since one of the two people who are supposed to go got real sick and had to go to the hospital, which, I guess, is a good reason to cancel out. So, anyways, I said I’d do it. I score brownie points and a bonus for stepping in at the last minute. Hey, I could always use a few extra brownie points and some extra bucks. Besides, G’ville is only a two and a half hour drive from here, so I can go down early Wednesday evening and come on back home on Friday when I’m done. I like that. Also, there’s this really good restaurant in downtown G’ville that I’ve been wanting to go back to.
You’re not the boss of me! And you’re NOT MY REAL DAD EITHER!
So there!
Yay, there’s a volunteer for Monday!!!
Wow, that’s quite a check, rigs. But it’ll be worth it. Improved kitchens are always nice.
Bumba! It was Bumba! Hope the reduced drugs help…
Yeah…that’s an interesting house, FCM. Not really my style. I have the very smallest house on my block. So I guess that was a good move, huh?
So Drae, did you survive the day? Or maybe the better question is “did everyone else survive”? (Is it bad that I laughed at your post? I could vividly imagine you in this situation.)
Long day today, but fun. Played hooky in the middle of the day to go to Art in Bloom. I’d never been and now I’m kicking myself. There were some amazing floral arrangements. The designers are supposed to interpret the assigned works of art. The really good ones helped you see aspects of the art that you (or I, at least) wouldn’t have otherwise noticed.
So does anyone else really really really like Sandra Tsing-Loh? She just did a commentary on Marketplace related to Earth Day. Made me giggle.
Gotta get to Target and the grocery store…
GT
So how’d Rue sneak in there? Hi Rue!
GT
I read her A Year in Van Nuys and got a kick out of it. That kind of irreverent humor usually does it for me.
That’s why, when I win the lottery, I’m buying your brother a brand new ten speed bike and all you’re gettin’ is a kite. A used kite. So There!
Rick’s Cafe Americain is the restaurant in G’ville I was talking about. Just thought I’d share.
The mental image of swampy as your dad has me alternately giggling and shuddering. He’s definitely the most un-dad-like MMPer, to be sure. More of a cool uncle, I think.
But he is a stellar hugger.
Ya know, Rue, there’s no reason you couldn’t get up at 5AM some Monday and reclaim the MMP. Just sayin’…
Hey - my BIL lives in Gainesville! Well, Alachua, actually. You’d want to avoid him - he can be a pill.
Speaking of travel stuff, Taters, do we need to make some plans for your visit hereabouts?? I can’t remember who else was up for a meeting - damned memory.
Yay! Bumba and Rue dropped in.
Bumba, I hope the reduced meds thing works out too. It most definitely should help the ol’ wallet.
FCM, that house is um…, just um. It’s the decor really. Good lord, I’d be afraid to breathe in there; it seems so stuffy and stiltified.
I envision Swampy as the cool uncle type too. One who spoils his nieces and nephews.
FCM, just saw your post about meeting up. Yuppers! I still want to meet up with you. I think it was Susan that said she might be interested too.
I’ll post more this weekend about my travel plans. My orders haven’t gone all the way through the system yet (damned DTS {Defense Travel System}). However, right now it looks like I’ll be landing around 5:30 pm or thereabout on Monday, May 8th. I’ve been given a rental car too. My hotel doesn’t seem to be too far from the airport. I leave on Friday, May 12th, in the morning.
At any rate, I’ll post more this weekend.
There should be a Taters Does Metro D.C. thread so y’all can plan. I’m gonna revive my Tampa thread in a couple of weeks to see what we can get going on. There’s something you’re supposed to take for memory, but I forget what it is.
Tomorrow I am hosting an informal dinner party in honor of a friend’s birthday. It’s informal cause we’re having ribs and I plan on us eating on the back porch. (I have a table out there, with chairs even. They’re from the Martha Stewart pre-prison collection) There will be six of us. Picture three gay couples dining al fresco. The f-aaaaaa-bu-lous-ness of it all is just overwhelming ain’t it? We shall dine upon bbqed ribs, baked beans tater (N.O.T.) salad, rolls and cheesecake. There’s even a bottle of chilled champagne with which to offer up birthday toasts. It’ll be all suave, cooth and sophisticated, just like city folks.
Um…er…how about Sunday night, midnight? I can do that.
Right up till you wipe your faces on the tablecloth…
Mika - he fibbed. First of all, I don’t get up till 4:45 on Monday. Second, I don’t get to read the MMP till I get home from work. Unless I’m starting, in which case I write it on Sunday, and log on long enough to post before leaving for the office. So you go ahead and post whenever you want and ignore the silly ol’ bear!
There is a reason I can’t “reclaim” the MMP. There’s only one “5” per day. The a.m. one ain’t it.
P.S. If you have yourself a Labrador Retriever, they look super-dorky if you take them to the groomer for a “shave down”. It’s not a good look. Not at all.

Well, when I left wok today, I turned on my cell phone, and I had 9, count 'em, 9 voice mails from my stalker. Her car broke down in Baltimore, and she didn’t know what to do. She wanted me to drive 4 hours 1 way to rescue her, no doubt.
I’ll be ** SO FUCKING GLAD ** when this weekend is over, and she’s gone.
In other news, we had a hit on a possible house, and found out there’s HUD restriction on it. I make $8k a year too much to buy it.  I asked if damaged credit would work, and they said no.
So…feeling energetic and somewhat inspired by all this lawn mowing talk, I decided that since my weekend is busy, I better get on mine tonight. I’d done the back, but the front wasn’t long enough from the spring growth yet until suddenly yesterday. This isn’t the first time I mowed this year in the back yard though.
FCM - I blame your mower for talking to mine. Mine, which died as soon as I finished the front.
Cleaned out the air filter (great minds, blah blah…) and it got started again, but kept dying. I think it’s fuel/carburetor related. If I prime, even when it’s warm, it runs like a star for 2.5 seconds. I’m going to let it sit, munch some pizza and try again in case I flooded it, but I don’t think that’s it.
Grr.
The ads are all for kitchen remodels…
I–I was going to post something about the MMP, but then realized that tomorrow is NOT Monday.
I think I need a keeper.
Bumba -woot on the meds! I don’t like to take meds, meself. Let’s hope things go well and you don’t need 'em.
Swampy -by my calculations, that means that there are at least 6 homerasexuals in the South. Well, I’ll be!
And I lived the first 4 years of my life in Gainesville.
I screwed up sooo bad…
I thought I completed sending our tax return with TurboTax. I didn’t. I just sent it today. Bloody hell.
