I’m starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.
I liked it.
A great episode: three equally-strong story lines. High points:
The homeless man with Bunny, and Mitch and Cam’s immediate reaction when he hacked all over it.
Manny sending flowers to the concierge.
Jay’s confession about his football status, and Gloria’s reaction to being called a trophy wife.
Claire and Phil on the beach.
Lilly swiping Luke Skywalker.
I could watch this one again.
“Alex is doing really well with her Chinese. That’ll come in handy when they own us.”
It’s great that the mural of Cam & Mitch is still in Lily’s room.
When he turned to Jay and asked for a credit card, the look on Jay’s face was one of the funniest things all season.
I also liked Jay’s reply when Manny kept complaining about the motel - “You know, when I met you, you were eating cereal out of a bucket.”
“We stopped going to the beach when Alex started printing water quality reports.”
“She’s so weird.”
“Don’t worry, she’ll be China’s problem soon.”
So Jay played high school football, huh?
I loved that line!
Didn’t Al Bundy also play football, and wasn’t he pretty good? He threw that up to Peg many times, how getting her knocked up ruined his future in sports.
I liked the scene with Claire in the convertible, when those guys pulled up alongside, and quickly got disgusted with her for having such a cool car and not using it to full advantage.
Polk High, “Touchdown” Bundy - 4 touchdowns in one game. Yet more evidence that this is a thinly veiled sequel to MWC.
Except in this incarnation he spent most of his time on the bench.
He was lying. He was just buttering up Gloria to get her on the chopper.
The tka tka tka!
Did anybody else go “Oh, that’s what he meant by Luke Skywalker shorty shirt!” when they saw the action figure?
“Colonel Klink, that is nice.”
“Well, I had a lollipop with me just in case.”
Is it sad that I knew that was exactly what he meant by “shortie robe”?
I enjoyed:
Lily: “Daddy lost Bunny”
Cam and Mitchell: “She means you!”
Not to be syrupy, but, we’ve seen Phil and Claire express their physical desire for each other before, but the beach scene did a great job of showing how much they genuinely love each other.
I enjoyed that “tender moment” scene, as well.
