Would you prefer us to email you with a report of, say, a possible troll, or to use the “report this post” function? Is one method more convenient or quicker than the other?
Thanks.

I thought the “report this post” function WAS an e-mail, specifically, an automatic e-mail to all the moderators of the forum where the post occurs.
So it’s faster for YOU to use the “report this post” function, because it means you don’t have to go find the mod’s e-mail address. Dunno why it would be any faster or slower than you sending a personal e-mail to the mod. E-mails all travel at the same speed.
It would be faster to have the moderator’s e-mail address in your address book and use your e-mail program, since by using “report this post” you are causing work for the SDMB server, which is feeling mighty peaked these days.
On the other hand, it’s better to report a thread and not to report it at all. And when you use the feature it automatically includes the URL of the thread and other good information. So I think using it is a good idea. (We have had one report of the feature possibly malfunctioning though, so check ATMB periodically and read the FAQ for more details.)
