Monday The 13th - The MMP

FCD’s Caddy has heated seats and a heated steering wheel! What it needs is a cooling steering wheel for when it’s been parked in a hot lot in the summer.

Have you never plopped down on cold leather in the depths of winter after being out and about in the depths of winter freezing your buns off? That’s the attraction! I like them to take the chill off, but not for long-term use.

FCD had a bad night - how can pain meds work one day but not the next? He’s still abed and I hope he can stay there a while. It appears our fall weather begins and lingers this week - should be able to open the house maybe Tuesday - depending on humidity levels. I have no real plans for the day - we’ll just see how things progress.

And I’m going to talk to FCD about visiting his folks. Originally, we were going in mid-Oct, but his bro and SIL from Texas are going to be there the same time. I don’t know if they’ve been vaccinated, but I do know they live in Texas and they’ll be flying to FL, so lots of chances to gather plague. I’m pretty sure they won’t be renting a car, so they’d expect us to drive to Orlando to pick them up and/or drop them off, depending on who gets there first. And, frankly, 6 adults in that little house for a week is just too much. Plus I just don’t like this BIL, but without the other issues, I could deal with him.

Since we first suggested the visit, FCD’s second surgical follow-up has been scheduled during the time we’d have been gone. And my daughter has multiple Dr appts where she needs me to fetch Roxy after school. So I suggested we change to the end of Oct/start of Nov and stay thru his birthday (11/3) - that way his folks wouldn’t be overwhelmed, there would be no fight over who gets the bigger guest bed, and, yeah, I won’t have to be around BIL. I’ll get FCD to look at the calendar today and have him call his mom. Fingers crossed…

For now, tho, I’ll enjoy a quiet house and think about what needs to be done today. Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Time to clean, then watch some football(handegg to you foreign Mumpers)

Avast ye scurvy dogs! ‘Tis an announcement that that this be International Talk Like a Pirate Day! And if ye not be parktaking, it will be Davey Jones’ locker for ya! ARRRRRRRRRR!

: staggers of in search of rum guzzling wenches :

Good morning everyone, or, Aye! ye scalliwags!

Both my Jeep and the husband’s car have heated seats and heated steering wheels. I really do like them if I’ve been out in the cold for a good bit because they warm you up quickly. My Jeep also has cooled seats! I love that too. It’s completely refreshing on a hot summer day, especially if the Jeep has been sitting in the sun for a bit.

The kids are coming to visit today. I’ve got a cake to bake, and I need to get the stew fixings in the crockpot. I also need to finish the last bit of tidying.

Going to the store yesterday was a bit of a nightmare. It seems there were still a lot of power outages everywhere, so everyone came to my particular store making it a bit crowded. Additionally, there were a lot of bare shelves. The supply issues have really been abundantly clear these last few months. This is Safeway, not some specialty fancy store!

At any rate, I’m looking forward to spending time with the kids and grandkids. Zoe has progressed with the potty training. She’s been asking to use the potty the last few days AND actually producing something. It’s a good beginning.

Time of another cup of coffee and then I start with the chores. I also need to get laundry done today. But, first I’ll enjoy this last bit of quiet. It’s just me and my boy Polar at the moment. It’s really my favorite part of the day!

nellie, one of the attractions of heated seats for me is that my hips and back feel better with the heat. I even use them when running the AC.

dicey, I liked the fledermaus. A lot of old belfries have bats and / or swallows in them that will swarm when entering or exiting.

ARRRRRRGH! 'Tis another rainy day in the port of middle Tennessee.

It was raining hard when I arose at five, so I read for a couple of hours before taking Nelson out after it both lightened up and the rain slowed to a light drizzle. Apparently, the gods are against most outside activity for me this weekend.

Yesterday, when I went to the 'Boro to World Market for coffee beans, I swung through Tuesday Morning. I’ve found bargains there in the past on linens, kitchen gadgets, crafty stuff and dog related items (they’re an overstock outfit). I hadn’t been there for a while because they began raising prices some about a year ago. At this point, the selection in the parts of the store where I shop is minimal and the prices are pretty close to retail, sometimes more than retail. This has been discussed a lot on a couple of the craft groups that I belong to on FB, so I was a bit prepared. Now I know I won’t be back.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I love bats. Thank you for sharing this link.

I’ve always wondered, though: with that super hearing, don’t they hate the bells?

I thoroughly approve.

Having lived in Texas (a.k.a. Satan’s armpit) for 30 years … this would be one massive upsell. Everyone would spring extra for that.

{ waves hello }

Get the $%#@ outta here. Ferrealz?!? That’s a thing?

I’m over here.

Yup, it’s a thing and it’s been an absolutely awesome feature to have during these hot summer months.

Stew is going in the crockpot, a cake is baking in the oven, dishes are washed and washing in the dishwasher. Just need to sweep the floor and shower and then I’m ready for the kids. Oh, and get some laundry going.

Mowage achieved, with no walnut-missile related mishaps, but I did hit a dog toy hidden in the long grass. Adieu sweet Cuz

Now time for some chillage, then, like doggio I’ll be watching some hand-egg. I may multitask and watch baseball, too, Sox and Pats both play at 1.

Oh… One more password added. Mrs. L.A. spends a lot of time playing games on the Amazon Fire I got her for Christmas several years ago. She said her games weren’t downloading. I connected her to the new network, and she discovered her games were working this morning.

ETA: My new phone was left unplugged all night, and the battery is still at 94%. The iPhone 6S would be dead. I charged it up last night and powered it off, now it’s in a drawer.

Actually, it wasn’t/isn’t so much the heated seat part, it’s the heated back of the seat that I love. See, there’s two separate buttons. One heats the entire seat, back and bottom, and one button turns on the heat in just the back. When my back is sore, which is pretty much all the time now, that button is my jam.

Good luck with that. All the rum guzzling wenches I’ve ever met looked like Long John Silver.
Well I stand (sit) corrected. I’m certain Shoe and Boo don’t look like Long John Silver. I’m sure they both are Mary Pickford look-alikes. :grinning:

Speaking of food; we had a bunch of expired (but not moldy) bread the other day and Wifey decided that bread pudding would be just the bees knees. She found a recipe online for pecan pie bread pudding. It was delishush. It was too sweet, according to her, and didn’t have enough pecans, according to me, but was da bomb. Y’all should look it up.

Today I plan to go into the basement and clean out the storage area under the bedroom in preparation for stuffing it full of stuffs. Now that I have a truck, I’m gonna start hauling stuffs over here in earnest. Hmmm, maybe that’s the truck’s name. Earnest.

Happy Sonday y’all.

Had to Google that one

She had CURLS dang!

Hey! Avast, girlie! I got here first.

As a sometime Bristol resident, every day is talk like a pirate day -really, the cliché pirate accent is kinda based on the local one, that being where Long John Silver be from.

Are the rum guzzling wenches allowed to add mixers? I’m not a fan of straight rum, but I do like it with coke. Not that I’ve had that in yonks… I did actually visit a pub with one of my new housemates and some of her friends on Friday, but I neglected to get any rum.

Skool starts tomorrow- at least induction does. I’ve bought myself a new bag and some new pens n notebooks and things. No stickers. Maybe I should get some stickers? And do I need to take a picture of myself on the doorstep when I head over? I hope the other kids are nice to me

shoe, it’s the high frequencies that dogs hear waaaaaaaay better than us.

nut, one of my paternal great grandfathers sailed to the US from the port of Bristol (he was originally from Germany, but they made a pit stop in the UK for a couple of years before continuing emigration). Oddly enough, my mom was born just outside of Bristol (TN / VA).

As it drizzled the whole day, there were multiple games of indoor fetch instead of going to the dog park. The patio still needs tidied and swept too. I did get the new printer installed though. I also made two cards in the studio, bathed Nelson and made a nice chckpea - tomato curry for supper.

I beg your pardon!

Still got some laundry to process, but that’ll keep another couple of hours. Garbage has been removed and the royal litterbox scooped. Nails are prettified, hit Target for a few minor items, and nabbed lunch from Jollibee, which was CRAZY busy. I wasn’t giving up. Had to have my Chickenjoy.

Big project is achieving navigable in the kitchen, between moving empty plastic containment to proper locations and finishing putting away groceries. Also gotta finish laundry, run the dishwasher, and get a library movie (“The Death of Stalin”) watched so it can be returned.

Just hang out with us~we’re all nice!

All nice, all the time! ~~~that’s our Mumper motto!

Cleaned, recycled, watched handegg. I cut up an old towel the previous washer ate, to use as clean rags in the kitchen.

Yes, especially Mexican Coke.

Did you nearly fight the Vicious Chicken? :rooster:

Cinnamon seems to be not doing well. He didn’t even come outside when I mowed the lawn, and now has a peanut slathered bone in front of him that he’s barely touched. I’ll get him some of the beef stew currently on the stove once it’s done. Send us good thoughts.
