Montréal Sugardope

I hope I can finally make to a Dopefest one of these times…

As long as I don’t need to be able to speak french, I might be able to make it. Haven’t been to Montreal for a while. My SO and myself might be able to make it together, or just me.

I can also ferry up fellow travellers to Montreal from Toronto in my trusty Matrix. Although all speeding tickets are to be split between all occupants

I’ll probably do the tourist thing and get a nice hotel room. I can share if my SO doesn’t come with me, and if you don’t mind my snoring :stuck_out_tongue:

Since I look to be the “newest newbie” here, does that mean I need to bring my stake-proof shirt and asbestos underwear for the sacrifice?

Mapquest sez it’s only six hours, 55 minutes from Lewiston to Montreal. I may have to add “Montreal” to “San Diego” and “Philadelphia” on my list of “Dopefests I have known…”

I guess we’re all good with the weekend of March 21 - 23.

detop, do you have a particular cabane à sucre in mind? We’ll have to reserve for a group once we know how many are coming, which brings me to…

**Who’s actually coming? **

Any resto suggestions for a late, light Saturday dinner? Sunday activities? Friday night?

Ok, if it’s the 21st, I can’t come. Sorry.

Well technically if I show up at your place and we go from there to the dopefest you will be bringing someone with you.

Part of me is horrified by that guy (meat from a cart is never a good idea in my book…I know the guy who works for the owner, the redheaded kid. He’s nutty…) and part of me is enraged that I didn’t come up with the idea of selling cheap meat to drunken frat boys. Feh.

As far as the mystery of the hotdogs in maple, it was definately still in sap form, as we were also given cups of it to drink, and the grownups were given sanka made with maple sap. All of which had been contaminated with hotdogs.

Welcome to small town Vermont.

(count me in for the time being, but if I get another job then all bets are off…)

But that means you’d have to drive all the way down to my house, then all the way back up north.

Maybe I’ll ask Crazy Tony. He’d be up for Canada, and fine with the idea of meeting a bunch of people from That Crazy Intraweb.

meh. Wish I could come  I’m drooling already!

Swiddles, you mean E****, with long red hair? I lived next door from him in the dorms at UVM for a year. He is nutty. I bump into him occasionally. Nice guy, but very very intense. Good in small doses.

He seems to know everybody.

Sorry for the late answer. It’s the first time since Friday morning that I have been able to get online (my roommate hogged the computer). To answer your question scott, no I haven’t chosen one yet. I have been looking at several ones though and inquiring about other possibilities though.

Also I would like thoser posting with their intention to attend to indicate which week-end would be better. We already know that racin would prefer the 15-16, while Swiddles would prefer the 22-23. The sooner we know the better planification we could make.

As for restaurant suggestions, I have no ideas for the time being (maybe Le Commensal, a vegetarian restaurant where you pay by the gram).

I can make the 22-23, but not the 15-16 weekend.

Is that a vegetarian restaurant or a Dutch “cafe”? There’s only one thing usually bought by the gram … heh…

anyway, the 22-23 weekend is better for me…

I guess I’m outvoted. Have fun, guys.

[BurlingtonGossip]It’s all coming back to me now, I think we already had this discussion. About how odd that guy is. I just ran into him the other day, he says he’s gonna propose to his girlfriend, who should get a metal for putting up with him for this long. Don’t tell her. [/Burlington Gossip]

FWIW, I know a fantastic Dim Sum place in China Town. But I seem to think that already happened at the last MontreDope, the one I missed.

I’m all for the vegetarian place. Hi, I’m Swiddles and I’ve been meat-free for 7 years.

I missed the last one, too, and I’m always up for Dim Sum. Can’t get it around here.

So I’ve tentatively chosen a place : http://english.montrealplus.ca/profile/451987/. Since we have at least one vegetarian, I would like to point out that usual sugaringe off fare involves lots of meat, usually pork-based.

Oops sorry for the link. Let’s hope this one works. http://english.montrealplus.ca/profile/451987/

Here a link to Cabane à sucre l’Hermine, including a menu. Of course, it’s in French, so I can only figure out some of what they offer.
