Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels ready for the dryer and clothes ready to go in the wash and am fixing to do KP and start the housecleaning. A friend is supposed to come over when he delivers his son to irk and take care of the connection issues with my printer.
Tomorrow, SIL and I are going to go ramble up on the plateau where we both lived at different points. The leaves should be beginning to turn at that elevation, so we’ll likely do a bit of leaf peeping.
Morning all. Newspaper has been rescued from outdoors and temperatures are supposed to reach 82F today, so a pretty nice day is in the cards. Today is haircut day, probably go this morning so I can wash it this afternoon. Otherwise nothing much planned (called off soccer practice earlier this week, it’s Fall break and a lot of folks are taking time off).
{{{Oopsie}}}; it has to be frustrating to be primed for one thing and have something else come up just as you’re about to start the prepartion…hang in there, all will get done.
red, enjoy your ramble.
FCM, sorry about that… And I found Edward D. Jones about 30 years ago and they’ve given me good advice and options over the years, so I’m set.
OK, need to finish the morning internettin’ and then make myself presentable for public and get the hair cut. All y’all have a good Firday.
It’s my RDO, so I allowed myself to stay in bed until 5:00 am, but then got up so Polar could receive his meds.
Oopsie, I would probably have a very similar reaction based on the time and amount of energy put into obtaining the bariatric surgery. Hopefully, the delay will be minimal or not really happen at all.
It’s a brisk 37 degrees outside this morning with an expected high of 61. I am guessing I am going to actually have to turn on the heat soon, damn it.
I need to run some errands and track down my mushroom hunting knife. I think my husband appropriated it for some other use and now I can’t find it. I need to reach out to my old friend and let her know that I plan to be at her house NLT 6:00 am because the place we’re going to is a couple of hours’ drive from our county. I like to get there first thing and start heading out in the afternoon because it becomes dark early in the woods.
I am not a fan of flamin’ hot anything. I don’t taste anything but heat and it just rips up my stomach. I have to eat a ridiculous amount of tums to settle my stomach down. When I was very young, and prior to losing my gallbladder, I liked spicy stuff, but since my 20s I have been unable to handle it. Besides, I want to taste the other spices, seasonings, and herbs used in the cooking; not just have a burning tongue and then gut. Everyone is different. My kids love spicy food. I often feel like a wimp because I can’t handle it, but I’m not going to make myself feel like crap trying to eat it either.
Well, I think today is a three-cup of coffee day. Time for another cup.
They decided to change remote access from OpenVPN to FortiClient… at 20:00 last night. I’ve downloaded FortiClient and logged in, but it disconnects after 15 seconds. The instructions we were sent are for Windows, and I’m on a Mac. Nobody gets into our IT Support until 08:00.
Goo seems to be sick. She’s drooling and not eating as much. Hoping the vet will see her.
Taters, I agree with you about spicy. A little kick is OK, but my chicken should taste like chicken, not like a delivery platform for peppery fire. It took me a long time to try Mexican food because of that - I thought it was all pepper-ful. But I avoid Indian food for that reason - every recipe I’ve seen features chilis and such. No thanks.
I reassembled the baby swing, removed its cover for laundrying, and carried the frame to the basement where it will live till I start wrangling Toby. SIL took most of the pack-and-play accessories with him but I kept one unit so I can wash the cover, since I’m doing laundry anyway. Roxy is still lingering over yogurt - because she’s watching Shimmer and Shine - we’re heading downstairs shortly. ONWARD!!
Another soggy day here. Ironically, I’m low on drinking water (don’t really trust the tap water here) and don’t feel like going back to the store again.
BigBoss said we’ll be open today. HMPH. We’ll see about that.
Not many good job openings locally on Indeed, but I’m still pursuing something better paying. May need to look at remote WFH stuff, though that may not be the best for my mental health.
I dunno, I’m tired of going around in circles over all this.
I know. I just let it go. No arguing with a fool. It’s her choice obviously and I respect that but she has several autoimmune diseases. I was planning to make a visit but I shan’t now.
My purge and cleaning continues. It’s never ending. Happy Friday to those that celebrate that.
Moooommmmm when is the baby due? And congratulations.
I’m so sorry, Oopsie - that sounds incredibly frustrating. I’d have felt the same way. You’ve put a lot of time & effort into securing your surgery. I hope you get the all-clear as soon as possible.
It is a gorgeous, sparkly day outside today - cool in the morning, though it’ll be up in the 80s this afternoon. I am very glad it’s the weekend. It’s going to be pretty busy, but hopefully not busy bad. It’s after 10 and overlyhusband is still sleeping. I’m working and kind of gross since I got the waddle out of the way early and haven’t showered yet since my calls started early-ish. I’m just really damn boring right now. I’m good with boring.
Butters - baby 2.0 is due around Thanksgiving. He’ll be called Tobias Oliver. And he’ll be in my charge after the first of the year. Hope I’m up to it.
Almost lunch time. I’m standing! Off to the kitchen…
Scooped the litter box, took out some trash, and cleaned up a bit of kitchen stuff. Went out & got that drinking water, mostly as an excuse to do a drive-by past work & verify that, yes, they’re actually open today.
IT Support shut off OpenVPN last night, and we had to switch to FortiClient. Couldn’t get it to work last night. Logged on just after six this morning and tried to get in touch with IT Support. Got a response a couple of hours later, and couldn’t resolve the issue on the phone. Tried to allow them to control my computer, but osX Big Sur wouldn’t let them. Lots of back-and-forth and trying stuff. Meanwhile, I had a meeting. I downloaded MS Teams and joined late… while still on the phone with IT. Couldn’t log into my computer, so I had to give answers without having things I needed at my fingertips. Hung up on IT. We think we answered the client’s questions. I called IT back. More back-and-forth, being put on hold, etc. They still couldn’t see my screen and I still couldn’t connect. On hold, I discovered in Security & Privacy that FortiTray was being blocked. I unblocked it, and was able to connect to my computer. But I couldn’t tell IT because I was on hold. Anyway, I’m connected but I’m four and a half hours behind in my very busy schedule.
Goo is sick. She’s been drooling for at least a day. In retrospect, probably a couple of days. She hasn’t eaten as much of her kibble as she usually does, though she did eat this morning. I’m hoping it’s just a dental issue, but drooling can also be caused by liver or kidney failure. I’m worried sick. Creamsicle died of acute kidney failure a couple of years ago, and we just lost Tonka in June. Mrs. L.A. called our vet and was told they couldn’t see Goo until October 22nd. She cancelled her patients today, and she left about 10 minutes ago to take Goo to the 24-hour emergency clinic in Bellingham, half an hour away.
Connection issues because of an unwanted change, meeting I wasn’t mentally into and without access to my computer, and a cat I’m very worried about. I am not having a good day.
Nice morning at the park. Echo behaved with Remus, they even played together. He’s still a bit timid around her. She pushed Nelson around a bit, but only when he came too close to me.
Another grumpy day though.
I’m ready to tell off whoever the city inspector is. I got a notice about the weeds in my parking pad, only my pad doesn’t have any weeds in it. It’s one big pad that runs behind my house, my neighbor, the next neighbor up, and up to the garage of the neighbor on the other side of me. His side is clean, my part is clean, my direct neighbor has ivy growing in the pad. It’s the next neighbor up who has weeds.
We used to weed whack her weeds and spray them, but after she was such a bitch to me, she can f’ right off.
The inspector needs to get her shit together, too. This isn’t the first time I got a notice for a different yard. Once I got one for a car without tags parked on my pad. Not my car, not my pad.
I’m sorry for what you are going through Ooopsie.
My truck goes in the shop on Moonday.
I was hoping I wouldn’t have to get a rental car, but I guess I do.
Irritating.
Oopsie, how incredibly aggravating. You’ve had to do so much to get this surgery, and to have one unanticipated glitch cause delays and re-do’s must be so disappointing and frustrating, especially when you can’t get any further information for another 5 days. I’m hoping the delay is just so they can do a few tests to ensure all will be well.
flyboy, I hope Goo is OK. Please let us know what the vet says. I’m sending healthy-kitty vibes.
shoe, you seem like the most motivated, reliable worker at that place. If you told the manager you really must have more hours, could/would he schedule you more during the hours they are open?
Mrs. L.A. texted a few minutes ago that they’d just taken Goo in. (I think they’re doing curbside admittance.) Earlier, they said they’d have her two or three hours.
Roxy is reading with Grandpa, so I’m getting a break. She commandeered the baby swing after I set it up in the basement and filled it with her Word Party babies. Her brother doesn’t stand a chance!
Laundry is done, supper just needs to be warmed up, and I should probably pick out another side to go with it. Maybe the steak fries I didn’t find the other day.
I hope all is ok with Goo. I’ll worry right along with you.
Oopsie I hope it all works out.
I managed to get 'Beamer off to school and then went back to bed. Rain (huzzah!) coming in and my haid hurts. In addition to rain (huzzah!), the temps are coming down. I can actually have the windows open instead of running the AC.
I managed to get the last (I hope) round of paper-irk to the refi people, and hopefully the loan will go through soon. The house appraisal needs to get done, but I think that’s the last step. The good news is that houses in this neighborhood have been selling for crazy high prices, so my house is worth more than when I started this process.
