Wow, whining on The Dope really works! I got a call from the allergy clinic! Unfortunately, I can’t get in until November 1st, so 4 more weeks of Purgatory. At least there’s an end in sight. They want me off antihistamines for three days before the appointment in case they decide to do skin testing. No. Way. In. Hell. I had blood testing for about a zillion possible allergens some years back, all negative. I’m going to see if I can get ahold of those.
I wanted to get a flu shot Saturday, but I forgot. I was going to get one yesterday, but the Rite-Aid pharmacist said I had to make an appointment online. I couldn’t get one until Wednesday. At least I don’t have to wait until November!
But then I remembered someone complaining on Nextdoor that they’d made an appointment with that pharmacy and brought in their appointment confirmation and were told they didn’t have an appointment.
Welcome home {{{BUTTERS}}}!
Happy retirement!
I know what you mean about stuff. There is always stuff.
Even after KonMariing the place, there is still too much stuff.
Now I’m going for Swedish Death Cleaning.
I pick something up and think, do I want my son to have to deal with this after I die?
Well Shoe, if the apocalypse happens, bop on over.
I won’t eat the cereal, but my son probably would.
You’d probably have to put the rats in the basement, as my dogs would want to eat them.
They are afraid of the basement stairs and won’t go down there.
Interesting about FB being down.
I didn’t think I had done anything to be in FB jail.
You never know seeing as I how I got fact-checked for a joke.
A friend got put in jail for threatening to beat up a friend, even though it was evident by the context that it was a joke.
So annoying. da Jungle keeps changing my delivery time.
First it was 430 - 730
Then 530 - 830
Now 615 - 1000
I was hoping it would get here before my son goes to irk because the box is going to be heavy.
I’m also wondering why one box of dog treats is $39 and the second box of treats, exact same kind and size, is $19.
shoe and Mooooooom, back when I lived in the House of Queens ™, one of the queens declared that cats possessed the cloak of invisibility (yes, she was a geeky, D&D playing drag queen).
Yay for retirement butters! Enjoy being only responsible for you and Buddy Boy.
Irked, popped into the convenience market to see about video of the truck that ran me up over the curb Saturday (their video didn’t reveal anything), came home, et and am fixing to do KP before chilling in the studio.
Whilst checking out the internal job postings today, I noticed that they have posted for the position that replaced mine again. According to my former coordinator (who is being jerked around with work hours), the new guy quit after two weeks. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Just got an email from Pizza Hut referencing the Facebook problem and suggesting that pizza is a good response.
Had some thunder earlier, now it’s light rian, which is gonna last all week. “Preincess Pretty Paws” is not amused.
I feel personally attacked.
Aex Catt has done that once or twice.
Yay! Woohoo! A wise choice, considering what that job was doing to you. (((hugs)))
" Après moi, le déluge " - Louis XV
I got one from a liquor outfit.
WOOHOO!!! Congrats!!!
The electrician was at daughter’s house for about 2 hours. He fixed several things right off and he made a list of other things to be done. He’s got a real full-time job - this is his side gig. And yes, he is a licensed Master Electrician. He’ll get to them as he can, and he’ll send us the bill. It won’t be cheap, but the peace of mind will be more than worth it. He already uncovered and corrected three unsafe “modifications” that one of the previous owners perpetrated.
Afterwards, FCD and I went to Cracker Barrel because it was close and we were starved. He got his dinner in good time, and the server who dropped it off said my salad would be right out. Well, we waited and waited and he ate half his dinner before we finally were able to flag down our server and FINALLY get my salad. But she was good enough to take it off the bill, so I couldn’t really complain too much.
We’re home and chillage is about to begin. I see that FB is back. And all is right with the world…
Evening all. Just to confound me, they left the soccer fields open after yesterday’s rain, so a couple of the boys and I kicked the ball around for 45 minutes, so I did get a little exercise. Dinner was provided by the Red-haired girl (not good–may have to drop them from the rotation) and watching some tackleball is on the agenda. Rain is forecast 2sday and Hump day with a chance for some into Thorsday, so glad I did the shopping today.
FCM, that will be some peace of mind for both them and you, getting the wiring fixed. And usually Cracker Barrel here brings everything out together, sorry your salad was slow.
doggio, so far we’ve had Oscar Wilde and Louis XV quoted today on the MMP; This is the type of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put!**
Sari, hope whenever the stuff arrives, it’ll contain a billing that will explain the discrepancy (or allow you to claim a refund).
nellie, the power of the MMP compelled them to answer you…
OK, need to clean up the dinner mess and do a little internettin’ (maybe even check out the Book of Faces). All y’all have a good night.
** If you didn’t recognize it, the quote is from Winston Churchill, who is almost always quotable no matter what the subject
Howdy Y’all! The runny urinal got fixed without me needin’ to be there. The plumbers showed up at the church an hour after I called so the Parish Administrator (I had called her to let her know) let them in the church proper so they could do their thing. She texted and told me they were in and out in an hour, so all was good. Thus, I could work on sloth for a good bit of the day. Sup got fixed and et. It rained some, All is good.
Butters yay for retirement! It’s fun to be a retired drain on society. I wake up everyday so happy I do not have to go to irk. I’m sure Buddy Boy loves havin’ his mommy all to himself, as well.
Nellie they felt the wrath of the MMP. I am sure they did not want to get THE LOOK or be on THE LIST.
Now my delivery time is between 8 and 10.
I usually go to bed shortly after 9, I guess I won’t be tonight.
Echo is going to be the death of me. When I got out of the truck tonight, she saw something and took off jerking the leash right out of my hand. Then Ripple, who was unleashed took off after her.
He came back, she wouldn’t.
Try finding a black dog in the dark.
At least her tags jingle.
I drove around the block several times and she would run up to the truck, but refused to get in and would take off again. I called one of my friends that she loves and turned up the volume and had her call Echo. Finally, Echo came up to the truck and let me get her.
Over a half hour of trying to catch her.
Little Bitch.
I am drenched with sweat; I didn’t realize how warm it is outside and wore sweats to drive my son to irk. She was panting her fool head off. I got pissed off at some asshole who had to see her standing on the corner and he sped up driving past her. You see a loose dog you slow down.
My packages got here. I heard the thump on the porch.
The delivery person was so nice to leave them right at the door, so close that I couldn’t open the door to get them.
Lovely.
I figured out the price discrepancy. The $39 was for two boxes, the $19 was for one. So, I have three boxes of dog treats instead of two. They’ll keep.
Deluge indeed.
Thanks for all the congrats and welcome backs. I tore apart the linen closet today but only got it halfway put back together. Gotta refold a few sets of sheets. The dog pound called me back and doesn’t need sheets so in the trash they will go. I’m not taking used sheets to the Salvation Army store.
I sent a trailer load of crap to the dump last week and sent some stuff to the SA already. I am putting the rest out as regular trash. I am trying to minimize my household goods.
Still hotter than two hells here. I hope y’all are getting a little break. I had to get my own A/C employee today to irk on my bedroom unit. It just needed a little cleaning. Kinda handy owning an A\C company. I did tell the guy running the company I want all that A/C stuff moved to storage facility uptown and that will happen by the end of the month. I will finally have my house back for the first time since I lived here. It’s not cheap to rent a place but the company can pay for it. I’m done with it all.
Happy new week everyone.
My uncle, dad’s youngest brother, emailed me today that he was having chili and cornbread in remembrance of dad on his birthday. I told Mrs. L.A., and she went and got some Stagg chili and Jiffy cornbread for dinner. I had mine on a burger patty, so as to not have too many carbs.
I did get out for a walk today (finally), but only did about 1.5 to 1.67 miles instead of 2 miles because I ran into a neighbour and we chatted a bit.
And yet you still got them doggie treats. You are a truly good dog parent.
Cin hasn’t run off, except one time when I walked down to the corner store and he was standing in the middle of the road when I got back (it’s a whole 100 yards), and once when the neighbors tucked him back through the gate, so not bad for 14 years. Still not sure how he got outside of the fence.
His predecessor, Tango, on the other hand was a runner. I had many times asking people if the saw a big dumb red dog running around.
Happy birthday flyboy dad.
I started a new job a few months ago, in July, and it’s been pretty okay, if not stellar. Then as Covid started to re-emerge in our city, and Lockdown took its toll, work started to dry up and our days often had an hour of not much going on, until it got to a crisis point. Last week, the Boss decided we should take some time off, they would regroup behind the scenes, we’d build up a backlog, possibly have some new equipment or even a new workspace, and the rest of the year would have a renewed energy as we tackled work again and Lockdown eased.
Then on Sunday I got a phone call. The co-director of the company, my immediate superior, got Covid, caught off his younger brother. He sounded like he had a heavy cold, but also no sense of taste or smell; we’ll see how it develops.
So that means we all had to get tested, which I did yesterday. I am negative, as are all the rest of the team, though they will test a second time next week just to make sure (and depending on their results I might have to too). So now, by coincidence, the shutdown now has extra necessity, and extra poignancy. I have to isolate. And life just gets weirder.
my first dog was “buck” an ornery as hell red Doberman who was previously owned by people who owned a ranch in the boonies when he went out they just opened the front door until he came back of his own accord well they moved and for some reason, he couldn’t go
So I and my family go to my aunt’s house for a bday party and Iw hear this pitiful whining and howling and get told most of his story (note not the important part ) So my stepdad takes him home and over the next two days we learn dog didn’t give a tinkers damn about my stepdad or 2nd brother he liked mom but he decided i was his new owner and that was that
the only problem is I’m disabled and well I’m disabled so my gait is stumbling/waddling around mostly so when he decided boy needed a walk I was drug down the street and we learned that to him an open door was an invitation to go for a run even blowing through a solid screen door …so the first year I chased him around the neighborhoods until he was tired and wanted to go home but his game was "let boy chase him around but stop every 20 or so feet so he can almost catch up and then take off " sometimes even beating me home …the boy was in no way amused with this new game I inquired to the people he was staying with and they filled me in on his habit,
Eventually, after we moved i just didn’t bother to chase him and after a couple of hours, he come back except for 2 times … after we moved he got out and found a house where a female was in heat and tried to force his way in …didn’t work and he ended up in the pound and howled for 12 hours straight until he saw me …mom wasn’t amused at the 60 dollars it costs …40 for the pound and 20 for the screen door he clawed up
The 2nd was he just decided to go for a run and ran along one of the main streets in town… I get a call from la county animal control … asking me did I own an un-docked and un-neutered red Doberman … and I sighed and said yes… she then asked "do you run track and field? " I said no why?
apparently, the hound out ran about 6 animal officers and was clocked at almost 40 mph …they had to use a truck-mounted spring-loaded cowcatcher and they missed twice before he became tired and slowed down and caught him …another 40 dollars …
When he had gotten senile and at the end I was 17 and after much crying and discussion with my grandma i made the appointment but he ran out and the other dogs came back but he didnt and the vet said sometimes they like to go off at the end and thought it was better that way …
Up, caffeinated, and shevled. Off to heave.
My previous 2 beagles were runners, Nelly K. Beagle having went missing for 6 months(which is why I ended up with Gordie). Gordie is not only not a runner, he actually stops and looks in horror if he accidentally gets unleashed.(I think he assumes that The Invisible Mole People will drag me under if we’re not attached). Well, one time he did bolt out the door, but that was to chase after the Majikal Intertube Pizza guy, to beg for a pizza of his own.
Goooooood morning.
Big plan is to go to Geneva for Five Guys, eclairs and American foodstuffs. The eclairs and American foodstuffs will be coming home with us. The Five Guys will be going directly to my hips. Probably why we only go there 1 or 2 times a year, plus the 3 hour travel time.
Not possible to get good milkshakes any place else. Most of the ones here are way too thin. McDonalds and Burger King have the best shakes in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
And today’s the day. Dunkin’ Donuts is opening in Luzern. Hope they have chocolate munchkins. The one in Zurich is always sold out, and those are the only ones we like. Might try their maple donut as well, but not too often.
Both Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are offering Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I know there’s lots of people who like them, but I prefer eggnog.
In high school I did petsitting for my friend who had a husky. At least he always went to the same place - another friend’s house. Probably should have just left the dog there and I could have just taken care of the cat. Who hated me, and expressed his displeasure by crapping on the couch, even though the litter tray had been scooped.
At this point I’m probably never going to have a cat or dog of my own, so I’ll just chuckle at the antics of others, and coo at the cute pictures.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 81 and rainy for the day. This is fall-like weather in these parts. Today we shall launder and sloth. Sup shall be a pot roast cooked in the slow cooker. Side matter shall be butter beans, roasted carrots, smashed N.O.T. and rolls. Should be tasty!
Batboy sorry about the irk situation. Hopefully things will get better soon. Glad you tested negative.
shades sounds like Buck was a handful!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
heh it apparently poured in la off and on all day … all it did here was cloud up and drizzle after we got all the Halloween decorations out…
Speaking of that the 14 weeks of holiday decorating hell begins … while were trying to find a house to buy …you would think 300 k would be enough to live in the dirt and Joshua trees but house flippers and investors have been out buying everyone with cash … I had a line on a house that needed work but was going for 275 k and we’d made an appointment to go see it and an hour before we were to leave we get a call saying the meet was canceled because some prick paid 325k in cash for It …
