More Miscellaneous Morning Musings - An MMP

Pffft - it’ll make the little beggars appreciate you!! We’ll not mention the times I forget to scoop cat poo… :flushed:

Pretty pretty frocks???

Soccer runs till Halloween? Oh, right, you’re in the south.

FCD got a call from his neurosurgeon this morning. He’s got an appointment next week to talk with a doctor about implanting a stimulator into his spine to address the neuropathy. It means a trek to Baltimore, but luckily, it’s scheduled on the only day next week we had nothing on the calendar - huzzah!!

Guess I should pull out the vacuum and suck up cat hair before it overwhelms the house.

7:30am and we are already texting like mad, setting up tonight’s beer-fueled orgy of depravity. We actually have one of the owners of the brewery in our texting ring, and we’re bugging him to wake up and open up. Screw “legal hours of operation.” We need beer now!

Yeah, it’s turning out to be that sort of week.

Heaved, walked Gordie, had a bowl of cereal. I’m gonna nap, the start on my projects.

10-4, Roger. And welcome!

falling aslepp wouldn’t make you an a$$hole. Betting 40,000 Quatloos on the big female would.

I got an email with a voicemail attachment. (Very handy, that.) I forwarded it to my personal address, as audio/video are choppy over VPN. Downloaded it, double-clicked it, and… I didn’t hear anything. And the app was Music instead of iTunes, and it was asking me to sign up for a free trial, after which it would cost me a sawbuck a month.

It turns out the VM was playing, but it sounded like it was a butt-dial and no one was talking.

Ugh, the hospital is busy today. I’m waiting on mom to finish her CT. We got our flu jabs on the way in (yay, easy, free flu shots!) and are going to a needlepoint/knitting joint on our way back home (hopefully). There’s a gentleman to my right listening to and singing Van Halen. At least he’s enjoying himself?

My husband has called me twice asking what’s for lunch. I’m starving but don’t particularly give a rat’s patoot at this point. I just want out of this freezing cold waiting room!

So… Roger for his MMPer name?

I’m just grumpy today. 'Beamer did not go to school. He said he had a migraine, but the little (6’2" and still growing) brat sure seems fine to me. He disappeared into his room quickly when I started making determined inquiries.

I need to do some paperwork and boy do I not want to. I really, really, really don’t want to.

Shoe good for you for eating.

Nellie I hope the neighbor dog-sitting works out. It’s a very sweet idea. I routinely think of volunteering to take the Rottie next door for the day, but haven’t worked up the nerve to ask.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I had to go off antihistamines prior to allergy testing, and the allergist had me take Prednisone. Ask the office for an alternative. I had blood testing for allergies years ago and all were negative. Had the prick tests done in January and my arm lit up to cats, molds, and all trees.

Pixel is having a rough day. He won’t eat. i finally put his meds down his throat, but he bit me. I don’t blame him for it, and the pill has stayed down so far. I hope when the medication takes hold he’ll be back to himself. Right now he comes over to snuggle, and then wandering off just out of reach. I think I have damaged trust.

Holy, uh, water, Batman! It’sbeen raining cats and dogs out there all day. A doberman and two calicos just landed on my windowsill. I’ve been waiting for it to let up so I can go to the gym and then get my flu shot. I may have to…get wet. I must be turning into Gordie.

I have a state COVID meeting via zoom at 4:00. Speaking of which, my hiking buddy who took me to Rainier last week invited me to go hiking tomorrow. I said yes. She’s fully vaxxed (long story) and as she said she’s very cautious, neither of us have been masked in her car or out. Now I find out she and two unvaxxed friends went to a big anti-vaxx, anti-mask rally on Sunday. She knows how pro-vaxx I am. (She got the jabs only because of her career. She still believes it gets into our DNA.) Nothing I say can persuade her. So tomorrow I have to mask up. I don’t want to tell her why–wouldn’t end well. I’m pretty ticked, though.

Thanks much. I can’t have the prick test because my skin is too reactive. The one time they tried, it showed I was allergic to everything. The allergist who ordered the blood tests was confident I don’t have allergies. They’re pretty sure I have a mast cell disorder. I’ve been on Prednisone for urticaria (hives). The side effects are sheer hell for me. Fortunately, I see the clinic’s website says if you’re itching, don’t go off antihistamines. Whew! But I’m glad you found out what you’re allergic to!

Phone! BRB.

OMG - waiting rooms and restaurants are the worst for me - I’m almost always freezing! At least it’s now the time of year here that I’ll have a sweater with me.

Back with Roxy. She’s gnawing on an apple and I’m about to start supper. With luck, my daughter will be here in an hour or so. Still bleak and dreary out there. ugh.

I’ve just returned from getting my influenza vaccination. The pharmacist also gave me a free, 8-ounce pump-bottle of hand sanitiser… and $5 off my next $25+ in-store (Rite-Aid) purchase.

Notices of lots of leavings today. I mentioned my cow-orker who was sacked. Later this morning I heard of two retirements at different client companies. Returning from the flu shot, I got an email that the manager I work with at Big Credit Company is retiring. (I was at that company before she joined the department, and helped ‘train’ her on data.)

Cut early again this afternoon. At least I had a heads up & didn’t clock out for a lunch break.

Still, this is really cutting into my earnings, without giving me a chance to, I dunno, get a second job?

Grrr.

(… which auto-correct inexplicably changed to “herring” of all things.)

Well, the sun came out. I may take myself on a walk, maybe gather more acorns.

The software VP I just dealt with (our account manager’s boss) would test positive. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Hi emily! I hope that you’re feeling better.

nellie Would you be my neighbor? Seriously, that would be such a blessing to your neighbors and their pupper. Not to mention getting your doggy fix.

I’m sorry about your friend leaper. There are folks with whom I’m 180 degrees politically / religiously but on other subjects like and respect them. Shoot, some of them are my family and I know I could count on them to have my back, no matter how bat shit crazy they are.

Today was a weird day at irk. I’m thinking that it won’t be long before they cut me loose. (long story about disjointed training and them starting to train me on a position that I likely can’t handle physically this afternoon). I’m just hoping that somehow or another things get better.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Red I’m sorry to hear about your job. Are you unionized? If so, it sounds like a good time to get your rep involved.

I’m back from dropping Pixel off at the vet. By the time I got through, he was starting to act a little more like himself, but when I talked to the vet we agreed that he should be checked over. I really thought today was it. I hate this.

In cheerier dog news, Akiko has figured out that the food is kept in the closet. When I got home, she was pigging out. She had it blocked off so that Yoshi couldn’t get at anything. He’s almost twice her size, but she’s the boss.

Alas, no union. Tennessee is a rabid, red, right-to-work state. There may be an opportunity to transfer departments, but I’m continuing a job search.

Evening all. Dinner has been dispatched and all the Sudoku’s/Jumbles/Crosswords have been solved, so a night of sloth and internettin’ (and maybe some baseball) is on the agenda. Had to run to three stores to find everything on the list, but I think the bulk of my shopping is done now, except for the usual Monday stop. Rain off and on all day and supposed to be the same tonight, so we’ll see about the haircut tomorrow. At least the temperature is down to 67F, so no AC needed.

Have read all but absorbed little. Well, Thorsday is another day. Take care all.

Thanks, y’all.

My little acorn-walkie was nice, and I got an assortment of snacks for the poor, neglected ratties. { insert pose of rodent woe }

Got a bit more of my newest cross-stitch done, and I think it’ll look really lovely whenever I finally finish: a rainbow spiral, which is kind of tough when you consider I’m making it out of squares.

Curves are .. challenging!

Dinner shall be a blue box of mac’n’cheez (that’s “Kraft dinner” for you up in America’s attic) because I have still-good milk to use up, and because it sounds good. Not quite to “gnawin’ and cravin’” status, but close.
Might augment with something more meaty later, as I am famished tonight!

… and yes, I sometimes add tuna. Don’t wanna tonight, been eating a lot of canned fish lately.

But it meant washing a pot, only to immediately dirty it again. { insert pose of human woe }

With an early evening, I should be productive. Oh, say, fold & put away laundry.
But one of my Cook’s magazines showed up - they’re one of my few non-essential indulgences that I refuse to scrap from my meager budget.

Will I continue dressing myself straight from the clean laundry basket, and sit around reading instead?

Very likely.

And silence returns - Roxy has been taken home and I’m catching my breath before attacking the dishes. We determined tonight that the only thing she’s willing to share with her brother is her guitar (actually a uke, but it’s guitar-sized to a toddler.) She’s a hoot!

I think when the dishes are done, I may pop a melatonin. Or not. We shall see…

The vet called and Pixel is fine, meaning that there are no changes from the last visit. She suggested that I film him if he seems in distress again, so they can see it. Apparently this is the animal version of taking your car to the shop, or as my mom likes to tell me, taking a toddler to the pediatrician with an earache. I’m glad he’s ok, and simultaneously still worried sick. Fingers crossed that tomorrow we’re back to normal.
