More Miscellaneous Morning Musings - An MMP

Howdy Y’all! Stuff got done and leftovers got et up. Oh, and of course sloth and nappage. That pretty much sums up the day at da cave.

I have read everything, but right now, don’t have the mental wherewithal to respond, so I will at a later time, i.e. tomorrow.

From one fairly recent retiree to a noob, you are going to love this time of your life Butters! While there are still things ya gotta do, they are your things and you can do them how you want and when you want. Within reason, din-din time for our furry overlords must always be delivered on time!

Well, crap.

The whole thing is horrible, but the worry would make me crazy. Do yourself a favor, do NOT google it anymore until after you talk to your cardio person.

Our neighbors are like that with their dogs. The poor dogs are so lonely and bored, it makes me sad.

We only had one dog and she kinda followed me home and brought a lot of baggage with her. She was terrified of ending up starving by a dumpster again so didn’t like to get far away from us when we weren’t home and never once left the yard if the gate was open. We got lucky because our retired next door neighbors fell in love with her and would let her out while we were working so she didn’t have to stay out all day. The husband also got into the habit of taking her for a walk in the early evening.

We haven’t had a dog since because we wouldn’t be able to provide that level of care again. They went into a nursing home and we visited every single weekend for years while the retired out of state children came a couple of times a year. We were the ones to call the kids and tell them to come when we could see that the neighbors were passing.

Dog sitting could be helpful for your neighbor and for you!

It’s been raining and icky here for the last couple of days so much stitching has happened. I’ve gotten started on key chains for Christmas and am using all of my left over metallic threads.

The house is going apace. This is the second quarter of the first layer:

I’m getting behind on the background, but I’ll be sitting around for 4 days in Vegas, simple background stitching is just the thing for that sort of event.

What do you do with the acorns? Our oak tree has a branch with acorns and I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with something to do with them.

I’m mailing something to a doper in the UK and am very jealous of their address on Feline Ct., Cat Hill. George and I want to trade houses with them!

Started projecting, now having a martini.[quote=“Sunny_Daze, post:106, topic:951848”]
So… Roger for his MMPer name?

I second the motion.

I feel you. The last 2 years have taught me that a significant portion of my friends are actually barking loons.

“We’ve secretly replaced shoe’s autocorrect with the Knights Who Say ‘Ni’. Let’s see if she notices.”

Unknown, house progress looks good.

Mrs. L.A. had leftover Stagg chili for dinner. I went down to the Thai take-out and had yum neua (beef salad). I like it squeegee-hot, and they never get it hot enough. Tonight it was suitably spicy; not squeegee-hot, but enough so that I mopped my face and blew my nose after I finished it. I got some chicken satay too (because they don’t have beef), and I might have a stick later.

Give 'em to the rats.

Back when I lived in Texas, I’d gather pecans for them.
Here, it’s acorns all the way. Thought they’d be too bitter (acorns have a shitload of tannins) but they seem to enjoy gnawing them, and I think the littles play with them & roll them around.

I got a solid belly laugh outta this.

D’oh. You even gave a big ol’ clue when you said this: I got an assortment of snacks for the poor, neglected ratties. I’m blaming George for my distraction.

He’s been acting like a spoiled child today. He’s been getting into everything, jumped onto my house and stretched out so he could get maximum shedding coverage and then looked offended when I yelled at him and spent the next half hour pouting like an emo teenager. He pounced VBC and started bunny-butt bouncing on her which did not make her happy at all, so she smacked him off and is now in her box and refused to come out for dinner. He got under Hub’s feet while Hubs was at his comp and untied Hub’s shoelaces and then screamed when Hubs stepped on his tail.

His snipping is on Monday, I really hope he calms down shortly afterwards.

Your husband’s or George’s?

Hey, we have the same friends!

OK, this is sad. Were the portions that small? Four out of five discriminating dogs prefer hickory over oak, so I hope that’s the kind of stick you had.

He jumped on your HOUSE? Is he cat or kangaroo?

I got my flu shot, and I got a 10% off coupon AND a SUCKER! Woo-hoo!

Question: does the high-dose flu shot make it more likely you’ll feel mildly icky? The regular ones sometimes did that to me. Hoping this one does not.

I will think good thoughts, but I fear you are in for an unpleasant surprise. He’ll be a kitten for a while yet.

Too late!

I did one more Google search this afternoon, but it actually made me feel better: most of what I found was along the lines of “it’s tempting to ignore this condition because it’s pretty mild but it still increases the chance of heart problems.” Nothing sounded scary or dire, so I’ve exhaled and regained some optimism. I did call the cardiologist’s office again today to see if she had any cancellations in the next week: she didn’t, so I sent her a message asking if she might possibly be able to give me an early idea of whether the diagnosis could affect my surgery plan. I explained that waiting will be harder for me than knowing, no matter what the answer is. I don’t really expect a response, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask/try.

At this point, I’m less stressed about the idea of waiting a week to talk to her. The upside to work being a little non-stop these days is that I stay distracted most of the time…and, luckily, the weekend will be somewhat busy.

Oh yeah, he’s still going to be a pain in the ass for at least another year, but at least the VBC humping will stop. She does a lot of kitten distracting when she’s not in her box. This morning I put her in the closet for an hour and she emerged much happier.

I’ve given up on hubs! Although he has mellowed a bit, he’s going to take George to the big appointment and he’s always managed to avoid taking males in to be snipped in the past.

Excellent news! Every time I’ve consulted Dr Google, I’ve ended up scared out of my few remaining wits. I hope things continue going as well as they can.

I beg your pardon! I’ll have you know I Do Not Bark!

I howl. :wolf:

I meow. :smile_cat:

When I’m good, I’m good. When I’m bad I purr.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave,

Hopefully.

For cats, humping is a dominance thing - females will hump other females, or even subordinate males.

Monkey came pre-snipped. Within a few weeks he had figured out that he’s bigger, stronger, and faster than Nikki, and that - although initially he was the intruder on HER territory - now he must assert dominance.
Near-daily humping has ensued, to her immense irritation.

I told her to be glad at least someone is getting some action in this house, but she doesn’t see it that way.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy/foggy with a predicted high of 86 and rain for the day. I had planned on mowage over to the church house today, but that is not likely to happen. From the looks of the weather map we should be gettin’ rain real soon. Oh well, tomorrow is promised to be a dry and N.O.S. day, so maybe then. I am sure the text chain will be firin’ up soon. Maybe I’ll start it. Yes, a text chain about mowage. Envy my life! Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs and oven fries. Fartfest to follow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, well, let us see what the day holds! Will I mow? Will I sloth? Oh, the suspense!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

I have read, but not really retained.

I can also say that I’ve been found out that some of my friends are bonkers too. It’s really disappointing. The world just seems uglier and meaner now too. I know it’s always been a rough place, but it’s somehow worse and I’m losing hope for a return to civility and some semblance of sanity.

Today is my Friday AND it’ll be a four-day weekend for me. I am relieved because I’m just dog tired. Besides, it’ll be nice to have a couple of days to recover from the mushroom hunting expedition. There’s lots of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and getting back up again. It can be a workout depending on the terrain you’re in and oftentimes the best spots are in some rough terrain.

My workday will be jam-packed, but that’s nothing new.

Welp, it’s time for another cup of coffee.

I am very impressed! While it’s not the sort of craft I’d want to tackle, I can appreciate what it requires to do it well, and you do it very well. Once it’s done, what will it be? A gift? Decor for you? Tucked away and forgotten? :open_mouth:

I got it and the only thing I experienced was a sore arm for one day. YMMV.

Interestingly, neither of our cats are humpers. Higgs, on the other hand…

Just got a message from my daughter. Roxy has a fever. Yesterday, her little nose produced copious amounts of snot. naturally, my mind goes to COVID, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a cold. SIL is off today, sparing me nurse duties. But I may get her tomorrow if it’s more than a 24-hour bug. I just hope she didn’t share her germs with me, considering all the snuggling we did. Rotten little germ factories… :stuck_out_tongue:

Off to help my sweetie with his therapy. Happy Thursday!!

Afternoon all.

I’ve got a bit of a case of information overload today; have read, but have no space spare in brain. It’s only lunchtime, and my brain’s already full. Am enjoying it though- we have a guest speaker today who is both extremely knowledgeable and very silly- and very very glad I don’t have to try and squeeze in a job around this…

Anyway, time to go try and squish more info in!
