More Miscellaneous Morning Musings - An MMP

Morning all. Rain seems to have gone away after several downpours late last night. Hopefully it’ll dry out by Saturday for the soccer games. Haircut is the major item on the agenda to do today (just looked and the place I prefer is closed again today–what business closes Wednesday and Thursday but is open Friday throughTuesday?).

FCM, hope both Roxy and you do well.

Oopsie, glad the Googling made you feel better. But I do hope the Dr. calls you back.

Unknown, nice work on the stitchin’ ; and glad you did give that poor dog a loving home for a part of her life.

Sunny, glad the news for Pixel is encouraging.

OK, pills have been taken, paper has been shredded, and garbage is at the curb, so that is enough activity for one morning; let slothage commence.

All y’all take care.

Happy Thorsday!

Cloudy morning at the park. Hardly anybody showed up today.
My two were disappointed because the two that did don’t play with other dogs.
Lucy stands in the trees hoping a squirrel will pop out, we call her the invisible dog. Her owner is ‘the creepy old man without a dog who sits in the dog park all day’. Yes, people have actually asked him why he is there if he doesn’t have a dog.
Jax fetches the ball the entire time.

My truck goes in the shop Moonday morning. I didn’t want to get a rental car but it looks like I’ll probably have to, since my son has to irk next Wednesday and I can’t count on having the truck back by then. As well as, one of my friends needs me to pet sit for her for two days next week. If my yard wasn’t so small, I’d rather she brought her dogs over here.

I’m grumpy as fuck this morning.

It’s rainy here in western Mitten State today, too.
Pity my poor kitties, sitting on the threshold and glaring at the mud & wet grass. { insert feline pose of woe }

Put out a few applications on Indeed. Need a better-paying gig.
(Yes, “everyone is hiring” but they’re mostly the crap jobs going unfilled.)

Working the (short!) closing shift the next several days in a row. So I have the whole day to sulk and/or apply for jobs and/or deal with household stuff, through at least next Sunday.

What I don’t get, is any chance to try and hang out with my few local friends. We haven’t seen each other in ages, due to conflicting work schedules. (“I’m off next Monday?” “Nah, I work a long shift into the evening. Can you come over Sunday night?” “Nope, gotta close.” Etc.)

Well, gonna rustle up some kind of breakfast, and see what I accomplish before tonight’s irk shift.

One that does most of its business on Sat/Sun (the “weekend” for most normal folks) and thus has their own weekend mid-week.

Just spent the better part of an hour arguing with my sister about the vaccine. According to her 74% of all ppl that have had it have either died or had horrible complications. Out of 7.3 billion fully vaccinated people worldwide. The stupid…I can’t even. Then I said well I know I won’t change your mind and she said “I’m scared of shots”. How can we be related?

Roxy had to get a COVID test before they’ll let her back in school. Her Papa took her this morning, but they won’t get the results for a couple of days, so I have Roxy duty tomorrow. SIL will use the drop-off time to get the crib out of the attic and we’ll take it with us on Sunday when we go down to re-do Roxy’s closet.

I ran to Food Lion and got a London broil for tonight’s supper and cabbage and ground beef to make gołumbki for tomorrow’s supper. So lots of kitchen time today. In fact, the water is just about to boiling so I can scald the cabbage. Toodles!!!

Jolly joker!

Very odd contrast. Dove cooing while I’m watchng “The Shining” (or trying to, since they’re cutting up the movie roughly every 5-10 minutes for at least a minute of ads each time, and this is on-demand via my cable that I’m already paying for, dammit!).

The figure should be 6.41B with at least one dose and 2.7B fully vaccinated depending on which site one uses.

Heaved, then had to pull for six package cars, since 4 loaders didn’t show up. Whew.

Gordie likes to hump boy cats.

Outside not so great
Rain and mud coats my tiny feets
I need to go poop

Yay!

And we’ve all died, and been replaced by crisis actors.
Sorry you have to deal with this, on top of everything else, Butters.

Got a few things at the Gettin’ Sto’ but shelves were empty of odd items. (For ex. plenty of French Onion dip, but no Ranch dip. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:)

Got home in time to beat the pouring rain by a solid, oh, seven minutes or so. It’s now so dark, at oh-noon-hundred, that I’ve had to turn on all the lights!

Monkey heard me stack cans of gooshy-food & is now being a begging little butthole.
Nikki is alternating between glaring at me, glaring at the rain, and glaring at Monkey.

Nikki: “Send 'im here. Maybe Gordie can teach this bastard a lesson.”

Thank you for the compliment and I do understand what you mean. I’ve seen some beautiful handiwork that I admire to no end. I wouldn’t want to own it and I wouldn’t want to do it, but they sure do make their magic look easy. It’s kind of like watching the British Baking Show. I walk away thinking I could pipe perfect choux dough when actually I can’t even remember how to spell it half the time.

Right now the house is likely destined to end up in a closet and forgotten about.

I haven’t had a humping cat before, I sure hope he stops before VBC gets mad and stops playing with him. They both need the exercise.

Today is a free produce day and my friend has been transferred back to the office close to home so I’ll deliver food to the office and have lunch with her. I’ve missed our weekly lunches, that’s where I got all of the local gossip!

I went to light a new candle (to help combat the darkness) and saw that it was scented.

The label?

“GARDEN RAIN”

No, thank you, Satan, not today. Got enough of the real stuff as it is, kthxbye.

Afternoon all. BLT’s for lunchtime, forgot to take the burger out of the freezer, so that’ll be tonight’s dinner. Garbage men have come and gone and the can is back in the garage, so that is done. Otherwise just a quite day in the neighborhood.

You’re probably right, but it’s a chain (Great Clips) and others are open in the area (but I like this one, so I’ll wait until Firday). Reminded me of living in Abu Dhabi where the weekends we Thursday and Friday (Friday was the holy day there like Sunday’s are here). Made coordinating work with home even more of a pain (I was +9/+10 hours ahead). About 2 years in the Emir decreed weekends would be Fridays and Saturdays, which worked a little better, and which everyone did, because he was the ^&$#^% Emir, after all…

OK, some soccer to watch and then see if the Parks are open or not. Take care all.

My MIL used to do paper tole. I can appreciate the attention to detail and how difficult it is to do well, but when they die, I fear we may have to hang some of her works in our house. Well, there’s some wall space in the basement and the guest room.

Keep an eye out for local silent auctions at schools or scout troops or such - maybe it would be accepted as a donation? Better than gathering dust and rotting away…

The London broil is marinating - my daughter shared her favorite recipe. The stuffed cabbage is simmering - it’ll be for tomorrow because you can’t eat it the same day as you make it. It must sit overnight to realize its full flavor potential! Anyway, two nights have supper planned. Yay.

The dishwasher is sloshing away. As soon as the timer goes off for the gołumbki, I’ll let it cool a bit before finding space in the fridge. Then knittage and chillage shall ensue.

Cracker Jack Pepsi? WHY?

So we’d have something to drink with our weird flavor limited edition Frito-Lay potato chips, silly!

Words fail me.

I begged off hiking today due to side effects from the flu shot. Last night I felt crummy and woke up at 4 a.m. because I’d drenched the sheets with sweat. Nothing like a good pre-dawn linens change to keep you awake. I didn’t tell hiking buddy it was from the vaccine, though. Not adding fuel to that fire.

Yes! Even formerly nice friends have become meaner, like they’ve drunk the Cruel-Aid. Hope you have a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend!

FCM, hope Roxy didn’t infect you, adorable little germ factory that she is. Is she still doing a stellar job of potty-training?

MetalMouse, when did you first get interested in soccer? Did you play it as a kid? I think we’re about the same age, and I don’t recall seeing soccer on TV back then. Of course, ESPN hadn’t been invented yet.

shoe, too bad poetry doesn’t pay, as I see you have a natural talent for haiku. The ancient Greeks included poetry in athletic competitions. Too bad we don’t. You and doggio could go head-to-head on pay-per-view. You could be on a Wheaties box! (Hope you really do get a better gig soon.)

Maybe she’s a Jack Nicholson fan. Or maybe…uh, just don’t let her near any tiny axes.

Well, I would expect to hear more about that. I wonder where all these billions of deaths are… (/jk)

Or … or … they can let me know an hour ahead that they’re closed today, so don’t bother coming in.

I woulda re-arranged my day very differently, if I’d known I did not work today after all.

Where’s that damn job-hunting site? And the other one? And the three dozen more … ?

… because what’s more fun than job hunting? Finding out the market fragmented & everyone is using a different website.

{ many bad words }
