Moving on up-- TO HELL! Mr. Sick (Chick) really skewers evilution AGAIN! CHECKMATE!

I imagine Death’s “Hi there” in the style of Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington from Welcome Back Kotter

Surprising. The arguments used by the workers against religion are perfectly sensible. No strawman. Completely at odd with his other tracts.

What I find oddest about Mr Chick’s work is that he never seems to come up with a good reason to BELIEVE and REPENT other than “you’ll go to hell if you don’t”. Is that really the best he can do?

My son goes to religious school, and every time someone says, “Thank gd”, he automatically answers, “All hail his noodley appendage!”

Why yes, I am going to hell, why do you ask?

αΩ, actually.

That is the exact same impression that I got the first time I saw a Chick tract. Ha!

Too funny.

Doesn’t this have repercussions? Odd looks?

Pretty convincing, really. I suspect that was the problem. It doesn’t look good when you give out a tract, and the reader says “Y’know, them construction workers make a good point. I think I’ll be an atheist”.

Not really. I’m in a mixed marriage, and his school is already used to our… umm, “deviations” from the norm.

Besides, my son has a winning smile - who could resist a Flying Spaghetti Monster reference from a cute kid?

“Here’s an absolute: the words of God (KJV)!”

What a great line! I can’t imagine a more clever and ironic statement being written by someone who was intentionally writing satire. I’m still giggling.

On a tangent, why do evolution opponents so often say that the theory teaches people evolved from monkeys rather than apes? Here it’s even to the point where “scientists” think that monkeys losing their tails is an important step in evolution. Apes don’t even have tails. (Probably there’s an exception there that I’m not thinking of.) Is it somehow more revolting to think we evolved from monkeys rather than apes? Do they not know the difference? Is it just more fun to say monkey?

Lowest-level propaganda I’ve seen in hours

The irony is that there’s nothing in the principle of ID that precludes evolution.

Yeah, I was going to paste up two Youtube.com links. One is just a page-by-page display of other tract and the other is this same animation.

I’m pretty sure that neither of the 60’s versions had the pentagram symbol on the back of the bystander’s jacket.

More interesting is something I clearly remember from a 60’s version. For the first and last time the immediate destination after death for the unsaved is called “Hades.” Later tracts did not, and simply said “Hell” with “Lake of Fire” (which really hurts) coming later, after Judgment Day. (And it is only here, in this tract, regardless of version, that the term DOOMSDAY is used. I can’t recall whether or not the non-Purgatory remark is made.)

Perhaps old whatsisname realized that “Hades” is also the name of a Greek deity, called Pluto by the Romans, who ruled the underworld (assigned by lot) which was given the same name.

“Oops!” would be considered a variation, rather than a reprint, because of the black characters and title change.

A fairly recent development for the tracts is the reworking of several old tracts to reach AAs.

But for several years prior tracts were rewritten in foreign language versions, which also had changed artwork to match the ethnicities of the target nations. Some of these featured rewritten scenarios and, in some cases, Black characters. (It would not make sense to call these Blacks AAs.)

I personally pictured Freddy “Boom Boom” Washington.

I thought so much. But then, it implies that Chick isn’t an idiot, understands perfectly the legitimate objections to his beliefs, and deliberately avoids to mention them or address them in his more recent tracts. IOW, he isn’t deluded, but purposefully misleading his readers, by depicting “heathens” in a way he knows very well is a strawman.
If true, then we could question his sincerity in other aspects of his work. For instance, when he explains “the truth behind Islam”, does he actually believe what he write, or is he just lying through his teeth?

The sillier the strawman argument, the more chance of it working.
