I want to talk about this so much but obviously can’t. I’m very surprised at a number of Day One decisions.
Feel free to pm me with juicy details!
I agree. There are many possibilities, but the lack of discussion at all is confusing in and of itself. Something was going on there. It could be something as simple as DaphneBlack being scum herself. Perhaps they will start discussing when more data is available.
Is that an actual question?
Shoes refers to another game long ago where power roles were restricted from claiming for balance reasons. A doctor indirectly claimed by ranting about hating shoes (instead of protecting against Shu). It was China themed.
With the funky Days only setup the manipulations of the Chronos lynch are completely unnecessary and an unneeded distraction. Since everyone can multi vote, everyone can vote for Chronos and rely on the possible vigilante to kill the runner up. No Vig? No problem.
Yeah I agree and it’s making me suspicious of the people pushing the distractions.
Ditto and fully agree, the lack of discussion over setup ( how many scum possible roles etc) and the permutations for the scum kill is odd. With a lot of power roles maybe people are just being cautious and don’t want to risk letting on what they know.
Now that Chronos has more or less admitted his alignment, I will say that I’m a bit surprised he didn’t claim Town-aligned Vig. Without spoiling anything, I think such a claim probably gets him through Day Two at least.
WIFOM, but I feel weird about Chronos rolling over and drawing fire. Sure, he was dead dead dead, so maybe he just saw the writing on the wall and gave up… But I’d be a little worried about some sort of redirection power. Seemed like a pretty weak (likely false) claim.
I would agree it is a bit suspicious , scum will have been actively discussing the issue , my guess is they would have come to the conclusion that Chronos is a dead man anyway so had him admit scumminess and effectively kill further discussions for the day. I would think scum are not going to get any further info out of todays discussion, pushing for a second place candidate may, at the outset, have had the possibility of getting another town to claim, but the second place candidate idea doesn’t seam likely. All scum can do today with further discussion is slip up. obviously barring some serious vote manipulation power, but town can’t mitigate that as they have no idea what it is, so may as well go full bore and lynch admitted (well as good as) scum
Also I am not getting Malahoth and ATPG with the “lynch me” attitude. If both are town, essentially revealing they are vanilla is a bad, bad plan, it gives a smaller pool for scum to look for power roles in. Now it may be some gambit based on a power they have (can survive one lynch? or trying to get scum to take a pop at him?) . ATPGs attempt to get the investigator to commit to an investigation plan on him is also a terrible idea, particularly as it is possible there is a scum watcher role as well. ATPG would be high on my list for scum right now, plus distracting town with the whole, “I bet you I am town” and pointing to other games where he was town is not at all helpful.
I personally hate the “I bet you that I’m Town” play. It’s utterly useless. It’s either a sucker bet or a scum ploy – I find it a particularly smarmy way to play.
I do agree that Pizza should either be investigated or lynched but not both. However, the reasoning he gives is weird and not logical.
If Town knows they are going to lynch Pizza, then he obviously should not be investigated regardless of his alignment as the information would be redundant.
However, if Pizza is truly Town, then I don’t see why he’s making such a fuss. Dealing with M is so far off that there really isn’t any reason to care at this point. Furthermore, one could make the argument that investigating Town is a stronger use of power than investigating scum since all scum have to be lynched anyway. Finally, getting nightkilled after being investigated is par for the course. It would be the case if he was investigated or some other town was investigated. Nothing to get so bothered about.
Absolutely, sure an investigated vanilla town is always suspicious until the godfather is dead, after all the godfather role is a balance to the investigative powers, but once the GF is dead all the remaining confirmed town are a huge boost to wrapping up the end game. Investigated and lynched scum don’t help reduce the pool to look in and often leads town to rely on the investigations.
I guess as chronos being found next to a dead body indicates the scum have to nominate a killer. Which I guess indicates there are trackers and watchers. Still a bit confused as to what Sherlock is, doesn’t seam to be a conventional detective role.
And there was Daphne indicating it may not be a conventional investigator role. Good call on highlighting she won’t be drawn on what to do, although maybe there is some ground to be made drawing out the discussion to see what arises from others input.
I think you nailed this. It’s as quiet as a fog-covered morning on the moor over there (sans hound).
It’s times like this a hammer mechanism is a good thing
Aw, man, did nobody here notice what I was doing with those two posts, either? I was rather proud of those.
I couldn’t have pulled it off. If I were, I probably would have claimed as soon as Dawn came with no other kill, or at least as soon as Daphne did the “you know why”. Plus I would have been expected to give a full reveal, and I didn’t have anything I could work into a Vig claim. And I hadn’t expressed any particular suspicion of Johnny, nor did he fall into any of the standard vig-target categories (second-place, lurker, etc.).
Well, there’s always the catch-all standby “gut.”
But I agree that would be odd for you.
Hey your not dead yet! I guess story is running behind with the EOD.
Yeah a false claim would have been tough, with the colour in all the role descriptions it would be even tougher to come up with something believable.
What were you doing in those posts?
Just a quick reminder this is a no spoiler thread - just in case active players accidentally wonder in, but please do join us, cup of tea?
If I personally ever claim to base anything in Mafia on a gut decision, you should lynch me immediately. Which anyone who’s ever played with me probably already knows.
(not a spoiler for the game, just if someone wants to figure it out for themselves)
