Mrs Hudson's teatime gathering - Mafia penut gallery [No Spoilers]

I could believe it. Find something post announcement of Mahaloth’s to make into an inexplicable reversal and nail him as the converted scum when there was no such thing all along.

The only hiccup and it’s a minor one is that Astral claimed to have a one shot long before story’s announcement but whether that was originally just going to be derived from scum PIS, I don’t know.

I think you are correct. I don’t see storyteller letting scum evade a lynch like that. But come to think of it, I’m surprised to see any lynch evading at all. Quite a while ago storyteller came to the conclusion that any mucking with the lynch is anti-game. I wonder what’s up with that.

What’s Story’s view of recruitment? I don’t like recruitment – it seems anti-Game. It seems quite plausible that Storyteller decided that giving remaining Scum an extra life was the simplest way to restore balance. If Story dislikes Scotsman-like roles a priori, that makes it more likely Astral’s power is newly added.

:smack: Gnarly just claimed Detective. Astral is Town. :smack:

Well, that upsets the apple cart.

The power description is strangely worded. Following strictly from the statement “50% of your investigations into a an actual Town player will yield a result of Scum.” we have to conclude that Darth is town.

I suspect what was meant is “there’s a 50% chance an investigation of an actual town player will yield a result of scum”.

Yeah I would have to assume that it is a probability that a town investigation would give a scum result. You cant say 'exactly 50% of you investigations into town would be correct and 50% wrong as Story has no idea how many investigations gnarly would do.

If he investigates scum, he always gets town.
If he investigates town, he may get a town (which is not trustworthy result) or scum reading
As he knows a true scum investigation would result in town result, any scum result must be town. Any town result is suspect, so Darth is in the suspect pile.

The "into a an actual " looks odd
a and an following, some careless editing of a false claim?

I suppose it could be a massive fake claim, if Astral is town, Gnarly clears astral inclining Astral to believe gnarly. They lynch Darth as an unknown leaving Malahoth or sinjin to be investigated. If two scum they need one mislynch and scum win. If just one scum, then they need a mislynch a night kill then down to a 3 way tomorrow

I lean town on Astral , the one shot power claim was before the mod kills and the reveal of the scum one shot power. That would have taken a lot of foresight to predict. Of course there could have been scum/mod discussions on how scum would prefer a game balance.

The fake claim seams complex, but then is anyone going to disbelieve an investigator claim at this point?

No indication of what would happen if Gnarly investigated a godfather, which are scum that would investigate as town, in the role claim. It would appear that the investigation of Texcat could have ben handled if Texcat was scum ( ie gets town result) or treats Texcat as town for investigation purposes and happened to get a town vs scum read.

Why on earth do they keep talking about “instantly” hammering? Even if they ever manage to get enough votes to hammer, doesn’t the day continue for another 12 hours?

Duh… nevermind, I see Astral just answered my question.

A hammer by unanimous vote is instantaneous. A hammer by voting for hammer waits 12 hours.

Well that was surprising. I was shocked to see myself quoted in the game thread. For a second I was worried I mucked things up by posting in the wrong thread. Phew.

Precambrian makes a good point about godfathers, but since there were no other alignment detectives, the GF would simply investigate as scum. I don’t see a problem there.

The timing of the claim is weird. I have no idea how gnarly could go this far and not claim. I guess with all ambiguous results he didn’t have any actionable data, so that is a pretty good reason.

Also the circumstances of the claim works to his credibility since nothing he is claiming looks like it would change the lynch. (Am I correct? They are lynching sinjin yes?) If he were trying to get Astral or septimus out of lynch then I would be more suspicious.

Personally, I would have claimed just before end of day to get the info out without letting scum change their kill target. But I guess gnarly is sufficiently busy to prevent that. Also storyteller has shown a habit to change EOD without warning.

Tell me about it. All this page, I’ve been mildly weirded out by seeing myself quoted in the first post of the page.
