Ok, I’ll be the idiot. What’s a Mumper? In another thread, I think it refers to something called MMP. What’s that? I’ve been here seventeen years and 40k posts, and I have no idea what y’all are talking about.
MMP= Monday Morning Post. Weekly thread that’s like a coffee klatch. Chatting and whatnot. Mumpers are those who routinely post in the weekly thread.

You don’t *have *to reveal your username, altho most folks do, if only to establish a link.
As to what goes on - it varies. I organized one that was literally a picnic in a park. I’ve been to gatherings at restaurants, and one other one at a museum. I’ve also been to a few at private residences. And mainly what goes on is talking, eating, drinking, frivolity. I’ve never been to one that involved nudity, but I suppose it may have happened at some point. Hope it won’t be an issue this time.
Plus, I happen to know that Typo Knig has a guest room at his house (er, I know this because he’s my husband and I live in the same house, LOL).
I’m in. I promise to behave myself.
Sounds interesting - Kogod isn’t too far from me, I’ve been there a bunch of times. It’s really a nice place to sit and relax on sunny days.

Argh!! Metro has parts of Blue/Orange/Silver lines shut down tomorrow. Yellow and Green lines will follow regular weekend service, but the Silver line stops at Ballston (for transfer to the Orange line), and buses replace trains between Foggy Bottom and Federal Triangle on the Blue and Orange lines. Oh no - I had no idea Metro was doing that. Not sure where our guests of honor are staying and what lines they need to take. :eek: Hope it doesn’t screw anyone up too badly…
FWIW, I’ll be wearing a bright pink polo shirt with white dots, so I should be easy to pick out as long as it’s not Pink Polo Shirt day at the gallery. My plan is to arrive between 11:30 and noon to claim a table. And I do have some peach cake to share!

It was a lovely gathering, especially when the bluegrass combo took their breaks. And I can add to the list of “Dopers I have Met” - because that’s what it’s all about!
**Tugig **- you gonna post the group selfie somewhere? I put my pics on FB, but I forgot to pull the camera out before Wendell Wagner left, dammit. I always remember to take pics when it’s too late.
And I’m pleased to report that Dopers from across the pond are charming and not in the least bit imaginary! All told, we talked for more than 3 hours, following a meandering path of conversation, including lawyers, earthquakes, the eclipse, and the Air Florida Flt 90 crash in the Potomac. I also recall talking about cats, school, 80s fashion, scam phone calls… I know there was more.
The venue was really nice, except when the music got a little loud. The company was excellent, and all in all, it was a very pleasant way to pass an afternoon.
