My 6 year old daughter makes history

When my daughter’s cancer (neuroblastoma) relapced, our doctor had only a few options. They started her on this retinoic acid pill. A vitamin A dirivitive similar to accutanne.
These pills were bigger than a Mike & Ike. Naomi, then 4 just could not swallow them. So we dissolved them in boiled pediasure. (Formula for older children)
On her next test, the cancer was gone.
Then it turns out that the drink we dissolved the pills in improved the effectiveness. The fat in the pediasure increaced the absorbtion rate.
Now…
There is a new study headed by our doctor that involves mixing these two things together to fight cancer. Because my little girl refused to swallow pills, there are laboritiory technitions and chemists and doctors working on new stuff.

What could have been a tragedy, God turned into something good.

Thats amazing! Very cool! “Wow” is all I can say, but it seems the most pertinant word…

That’s great Roadwalker. I’m so glad that you’re daughter is better and that some others may benefit from her hardships.

Oh, that is WONDERFUL!!!

YAY!!!

So cool. Congratulations!

What a happy ending, with the possibility for so many more!
Give your little angel a hug, she deserves it!

Wow, that’s great!

: ahem :

Yeeeeeee-HAW!

Damn good news, walker. Congrats and backslappin’ all around.

It’s so great that everything worked out, and that now even more lives might be saved because of a small action on your part. You and your daughter might one day save someone’s life because of this. In representation of all of those lives, let me just say thank you.

Too cool! I am so happy that your daughter is better, and that your experiences might be beneficial in helping others in the same situation!

Cool stuff! Tell her all about it and get her hooked on science. While you’re doing that, tell us more. I want to hear more about “retinoic acid pill” and whatever.

faaaaaantastic

Wonderful!!! So glad to hear your little one is OK, and that others may soon be, too, as a result.

Thanks for sharing this

It’s excellent news, and ditto what Rasa said.

That is just fantastic news!! I am so happy for you all!

That’s some great news! I’m going to forward this on to my sister, who is a pharmacist. I think she will be fascinated.

I’m so glad I opened this thread first today - what a wonderful way to start the day! And what a wonderful discovery you made! Hugs all around!

Wow, that’s fantastic!

It’s amazing how some of science’s biggest steps are often made by accident. This is something no one would have thought of by themselves, yet it happened because the circumstances asked for it.

Call it God, call it luck, call it Karma: the end result is the same, and I’m thrilled to hear it!
