My Cup Runneth Over - A Stanley Cup MMP

ahh ok thanks i was wondering …

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and mostly cloudy for the day. The next four days are supposed to be stormy. We shall see. I need to take care of candle duty over to the church house and also need to gas up twuck so I think I shall go ahead and do that this mornin’ just to get it all over with. After that I can concentrate on the usual sloth lest I get out of practice. We shall also go to the hog trough Golden Corral durin’ geezer time so that will take care of the main feed of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I suppose I should make myself presentable enough to be seen, though I do not imagine anyone would care at a gas pump and there will likely be no one else around whilst I am at the church house. Still, I suppose one should look somewhat decent, bother that it all is.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s 17c/62f here today and partly cloudy, which means it’s also partly sunny. Weather app is rather subdued today and only says “Mother Nature is a dork. The end”. Apparently there is a warning that says “thunderstorms moderate”. I’m not sure whether it’s a moderate warning for thunderstorms, or whether it means our thunderstorms will be moderate. Who knows? Last time we had a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and didn’t see anything at all.

Busy day still sorting out student issues, now that we’ve moved onto preparing letters for students needing to resit failed things. No doubt that will bring more drama, but the letters don’t go out until tomorrow and I’ll be on leave Friday and Monday so it’s going to be someone else’s drama.

I meant to ask you the other day - do prospective employers attach more importance to the having of a degree, or the GPA that comes with it? Here we have degree classifications so the top is a First, then goes down through 2:1, 2:2, Third, and then just a Pass. We have always provided a student’s overall weighted mean mark (OWM) on their transcript which is an indication of where they come in the classifications, and have only recently started including GPA as well. I’m just curious about this part of all this the students fret about most

Up, dressed in grubbies for mowing (still too early to get out there), and caffeinating. First thing I need to do is move those big broken branch pieces off the front lawn. FCD will drive John Deere and I’ll push the Toro. It shouldn’t take much more than an hour. Then we can get cleaned up and go chase wires till the afternoon.

The grands will be deposited here some time after 3:30 - I need to prep for that, including a dinner plan.

And it’s gonna be a hot one - already over 70 and it’s not 0700 yet. And humid… always humid. Fun times ahead!

Happy Thursday!

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 51 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of around 75 and sun by late afternoon. Tomorrow the clouds roll back in.

I had to go to the office yesterday for third work from the office day in the pay period. I really don’t like going there, but whatever. The day was full of the usual; fixing others’ messes, meetings, etc.

Today is my Friday and it’ll be a four day weekend, and although I have nothing of note planned, I’m looking forward to it. I need to get the lawn mowed and some gardens weeded. The husband had expressed an interest in going to the Farmers Market on Saturday, but we would need to get down there pretty much when they open because parking is difficult. He said he’d be game for that, but his sleep is all screwed up, which means he’ll stay in bed until noon or later and then it’ll be too late. I’ve arleady decided that if he’s not up, I’ll go on my own. I’m sick of trying to get him up when we plan something and need to be out the door in the morning. He won’t change habits that are preventing him from sleeping, and I’m over it. Especially because it means I don’t really get enough sleep either. I still get my tookus out of bed in the damn morning though.

Sorry about that. That’s been building up for awhile.

In good news, the meds that Polar are on have definitely kicked in. He still has more than a week to go on the meds, but I am so grateful to see they are working. And, I can really tell he feels better. He’s not licking at his “elbows” or paws and even his fur looks much better. He smells good again too.

My daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids are in Missouri and won’t return home until next week. I guess security was ridiculous. They line wound through the airport, over the skybridge and into the parking garage! Sea-Tac is not a small airport. In all the years that I’ve flown, I’ve never heard of the line being that long there. I’ve been in long lines, but they were usually limited to the concourse. They almost didn’t make their gate in time. But, they made it, only to sit on the tarmac for awhile. I guess the kids did really well on the flight too, which is good news, considering they’re both under five and Adam likes to go-go-go-go!

Well, I should finish my coffee and take care of some chores before I start work for the day. I hope you all have a terrific day!

Morning all. Managed to stay abed until nearly 8am, even with all the sunshine leaking in. Another day with 30-40% chance of rain, really wish we would get some as little bits of my yard are browning. On the other hand by checking account is in balance for the start of July and I’ve updated my ‘3 months forward’ budget (it never works, but does give me a goal to shoot for). Need to break fast, visit the bank and gym, and we’ll see what else develops.

Taters, must be the 4th of July crowds at the airport, I went out of Portland in May and got through the lines in 5-10 minutes. But Seattle is big. so on big travel days… And if Hubby can;t get up in time, let him stay at home while you go shopping. Maybe that’ll learn him.

Ok, need to finish the morning internettin’ and be about the day. All y’all take care.

It depends. I think you’re talking about grades from Uni, right? If that’s true, then most of the time it doesn’t matter. Some fields, it does. If you’re going to graduate school, it really does. What has made the biggest difference in my life, however, is the university that I attended.

Off to the heart of Silicon Valley today. The kids have a dr’s visit today, then we’re going to a Tea Room.

Take care everyone. Happy Thursday!

Pick up a pizza on the way home from the boat.:pizza::pizza::pizza::pizza::pizza:

Pizza is always a good solution.

It’s very frustrating to see someone you love harming their health needlessly.

I’m glad Polar is feeling better, I’ll bet not smelling “right” was upsetting Polar as well. Dogs notice that sort of thing.

Today hubs is bottling beer. This was started before his new fancy pants electric pot so there is a lot of spent wort. He offered to save it for me, but after poking at it I figured that the birds wouldn’t be able to recognize it as grain, so probably wouldn’t eat it.

I’m doing the post card exchange and have someone I had last year. I can’t remember what cards I sent last year and now I have to get new cards so I don’t send him a duplicate of last years. We are going to the dispensary in New River today and I think there is a tourist trap area in the high priced gas station off the interstate, so I will see what I can get there.

I guess I will need to start a little spread sheet to avoid this issue next year.

It boomed most of the night and poor GG is just plumb tuckered out. He’s not helping hubs with the beer and he didn’t react to VBC getting her morning kibble. I’ll be sure to wake him up and tell him we are leaving, I don’t want him to wake up all alone and abandoned, he’s got a bit of separation anxiety going already.

The chimney sweeps came to look at our chimney today. I’d wanted to schedule a cleaning, but SWMBO said we need to have them make repairs first. I can schedule a cleaning after that.

We haven’t had any leaks since we had the roof repaired in November. The chimney guy said that the flashing the roofer put up will probably start to leak eventually because the tarpaper is sealed to the chimney with silicone. The roofer said he’d come back after the rainy season, but hasn’t yet. Other than that, the sweep didn’t see anything that needed to be done.

The upshot is that I scheduled a cleaning. They’ll come out next week, and will replace the cement chimney cap with a metal plate. It will cost $250 plus the plate (which he said didn’t cost much), and Mrs. L.A. said she’d pay for it.

Linking to their website just because I like their logo.

I’m almost afraid to type this, but work is relatively quiet today. Some potential staffing drama got resolved (whew), my 2pm meeting got cancelled, and I’m at a point where there is nothing pressing on my to-do list and I can take a breather…which, of course, means reading and posting in the MMP!

I took Bailey to daycare this morning, and I keep going back and forth between “it’s nice to have a quiet house” and “the house is too quiet!” It’s unusual for me to be home without her. Typically, if I’m in the house and she isn’t it means I’m about to take a trip/just got home from a trip and she’s at the kennel. For a while I was taking her to daycare every other Wednesday, when I’d go to the office and the cleaners would come to the house, but I haven’t gone to the office in over a month and am not sure when I’ll go again and she could use the exercise – and the grooming (she’s getting a nail trim, a brush-out, and a bath). Her doggy daycare is only 3.5 miles from the house, but I am not a morning person so I’m kinda proud that I managed to get my s*** together early enough to drop her off and get back home before my first meeting.

In the Before Times, I would drive through McDonald’s on my way home from doggy daycare…this morning, I had a brief craving for a sausage biscuit and some hash browns…ah, well.

It hasn’t been a bad week, but I do keep having to remind myself that it’s only Thursday. At least tomorrow is payday, and Monday’s a holiday!

Me, too!

A bit of a nautical theme at work today. I had to box a boat steering cable, and I had a case of marine fire extinguishers and some rope and gear bags in overgoods. < waves at the FairyChats > And since I was in the Mez/200 all day, I was Queeg free. I stopped at Harris Teeter, since they had Yuengling on sale, and got 4 cases. And I got my geezer discount.

Glad Polar is feeling(and smelling) better, Taters.

Me, too!

Hopefully you didn’t jinx it, @Misnomer. May your entire day be quiet.

Yes that is a cool logo, and a good company name too.

It’sa quiet day here too. We’re still on the mend, getting better.

Oh, and dextromethorphan is good stuff! Still living better with good chemistry.

We ended up quitting early - FCD was in the engine room and working down there is physically hard on him. But we got some stuff done and we have a path ahead. We also discovered that the forward head (terlit) isn’t wired to a circuit breaker - it’s always on. For further info - it’s electric flush - a pump sucks in water via a thru-hull, it’s pumped to the terlit and flushes the bad stuff to the holding tank, which we’ll suck out at the marina when it gets closer to full. Anyway, we’ll hook it up to a circuit breaker as it should be.

The grands will be here within the hour. Life as we know it will be insane!!! Send chocolate!

Yesterday a couple of LDS missionaries came a-knocking. I know people resent the bejeebers out of proselytizing strangers, and I do, too. When the morose middle-aged tommyknockers appear, I’ve always said pleasantly, “I already have my own religious beliefs and am very happy with them, but you have a good day, now.” while firmly closing the door. However, I had so many LDS students, most of whom went on missions (which are now open to women), and the 19-29-year-old missionaries always remind me of them, so I just can’t be brusque with them. I give them the speech and make a few polite/maternal inquiries. I’ve actually had some good non-religious conversations with them.

I did tell those two that the management doesn’t allow proselytizing here. Hopefully they left after that. We didn’t get a mass text like we did last time this happened, so they probably did.

Today’s excitement includes laundering sheets, etc., working out, and walking to the pharmacy.

sari, I hope Buddy and Allie can become friends, or at least sign a truce.

Taters, yay for Polar! Several years ago, I was in a line at SeaTac that went that long, and they said it was the busiest day they’d ever had (and it wasn’t near 7/4). Employees were stationed at intervals to cheer us on: “Not too much longer!” and “You can do it!” Instead of us going through security, they brought a dog past us, with warnings not to pet or talk to him. It sounds like your daughter might have tied or broken that record. Glad they made their flight!

Have fun at the tea room, sunny!

Cool logo, flyboy?

Poor boy. And how will hubs ever manage the beer-making without GG?

I’ve always wanted the opportunity. Because I’d open the door with Pretzel wrapped around my shoulders.
“Can I talk with you about Beelzebob?”

flyboy what is SWMBO?

She Who Must Be Obeyed.

Howdy Y’all! I did the things this mornin’, we went to the hog trough GC durin’ geezer time, we achieved nappage, sloth, day drinkin’ and general overall uselessness as well. A full day for us! We are promised rain off and on this evenin’ and the end of the world tomorrow. We await whatever shall or shall not befall us.

BooFae as far as my irklife went, GPA mattered in the beginnin’ as I was gettin’ started, but after a few years, did not seem to matter anymore. The big thing then was that I had the degree/necessary experience for any gig I applied for. Others mileage may vary.

Taters a spousal unit is gonna do what a spousal unit is gonna do. Domestic life can suck like that sometimes. Glad Polar is feelin’ better and that the meds are workin’. :: skritches :: to Polar from Unca swampy! Flyin sucks which is why I hope never to have to again. Glad your daughter, hubs, and kids made it to Missouri OK.

Flyboy I agree, that is a cool logo!

Oopsie so what catastrophe occured as soon as you posted that irk was relatively quiet? :scream: I hope Bailey enjoyed here doggy daycare/spa day.

doggio I do lurve my geezer discounts!
