She told us last weekend, but it’s been publicly announced now. I would have guessed her younger brother would have been first, since he’s been with his girlfriend for 6 years. For D and her gf/fiancee it’s more like a year, but they’ve been friends for several years. It’s a big milestone for us as parents.

Sounds like your daughter is having a same-sex marriage. If so, perhaps the comparative urgency is based on concerns about politics, SCOTUS, etc. Concerns that seem very real these days.

So years ago, my old friend Danny invited me to his daughter’s wedding, told me about the hotel where all the guests were staying, and so on. Then later he checked: “Do you have reservations?” I replied “Yes, but I’m coming anyway.”
That reminds me of the Woody Woodpecker cartoon where Woody says to Wally Walrus (proprietor of the Swiss Chard Lodge) “Reservations? I’ve got lots of reservations!” Then he pulls out reservations for a large number of other establishments and events.
