My eye is twitching

I can feel it. It does that from time to time. Of course, it’s not that noticeable to anyone else - or so I thought.

I decided to check myself out in the mirror while I was in the bathroom, just to see what it really looked like, thinking it’d be as subtle as a slightly engorged vein.

Uh…no. It’s pretty dramatic. Unbelievably so. I look like a cartoon maniac. I hope this doesn’t happen in public much

That happens to me when I don’t get enough sleep, like right now. It drives me crazy.

I don’t know why, but I’m laughing pretty hard at this.

That eye-twitching thing does suck, though.

You mean like a massively engorged vein?

My eye twitching is one of my telltales for too much stress. As soon as the eye-twitching starts, I know it’s time to make a few changes to de-stress.

Eye twitching for me often indicates low potassium levels. Eat a banana – if it’s a potassium issue, it will stop right away. And yeh, it’s freaky looking!

I get it from time to time – have since I was a kid, though it’s not limited to the eye. It can occur in pretty much any muscle. It is most irritating in the eye, though – drives me toast-weaving mad, particularly when it seems to happen for days on end.

Oddly, I don’t think it’s related to stress, as I’m a pretty hard guy to stress out, to say nothing of the fact that my current job is pretty low on the stress scale compared to my last job, which had more stress than a schoolmarm’s bun. Still I get twitches every now and again, though.

I think it’s pretty funny that you posted this- my left eye has been twitching intermittently, but daily, for about a month. I have the opposite problem though; it looks and feels to me as if it’s really noticeable, but in the mirror I can barely see it happening. And I don’t think in my case it’s stress related since this is one of the least stressful periods of my life.

I hope it’s not a potassium thing though, because I can’t stand bananas. Blech.

I have been feeling some upper back and neck pain lately, and recently was diagnosed with some nerve damage and carpal tunnel syndrome, so I’m wondering if it’s somehow related to that.

Bananas aren’t the only food high in potassium. If it is a potassium thing, hopefully you can find some food on this list that you like better. I hate bananas, too, but I’d rather welcome the excuse to have some avocado. Tomato juice is another food I like that’s high in potassium, IIRC.

I sometimes get eye twitches if I’ve been consuming too much caffeine.

Happens to me. I enjoy it but sometimes I cant stop and it freaks me out.

Genius that.

I get it if I’ve been imbibing too much caffeine, and take it as a sign to cut back.

It hasn’t happened to me for a while, perhaps a year, now. But I tell you what, I bet it will suddenly start again now that I have read this thread.

But at least I’ll know about the potassium, so that’s OK.

If it’s any consolation, mine was doing this for weeks a few months ago, and I totally hadn’t noticed that it had stopped until reading the title of this thread.
