my fave commercial is back!

I always love August for the return of the Staples commercial where the father is jubilantly tossing back-to-school supplies in the carriage while his dejected children trudge along behind him, all to the tune of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.

Gets me every time.

Oh, and I second the Cadbury Bunny. How long has that commercial been around, anyway??

I’m digging the BK commercials lately.

I crack a big grin watching the one where the flunkie and the CEO get the same kind of burger and flunkie keeps saying, “We got the same thing… we got the same thing” in a pathetic, “notice me” voice but CEO just ignores him and walks off. Then his buddy pipes up with, “There are some more buns in here (holding BK bag up), wanna kiss 'em?”

I love the whole atmosphere of this new BK idea. It’s funny!

For my money, it if don’t got wierd little things singing about how much they love subs, it just ain’t a commercial.

I miss the Geico commercial where the gecko has been named “Employee of the Month” – you hear this rock riff and then see his tiny little sports car pulling into the EOTM parking space. Cracked me right up every time.

It’s a little more dramatic than “fur flies everywhere”, the cat basically explodes!

not literally explodes, of course…

Have you noticed there are two versions of this? On tv, when he’s dragging the hose to the gopher hole, it’s slung over his shoulder. If you see the commercial at a Regal Cinema before the movie, he’s carrying it between his legs like Carl the Groundskeeper actually did in the movie.

There’s a new gecko one. I think he’s on a road trip with a family and he starts singing “Kung Fu Fighting”, everybody gives him a dirty look and next thing you know everyone is singing it. Something about that song is infectious. Anyone, I’ve only seen it once and it got a grin out of me.
The gecko one I really hated was where that chick was swinging him around by the arms, it was supposed to look romantic but I would always think “She’s going to rip his arms off!”. If you love a gecko you don’t swing him around by fragile body parts … not that I’ve ever had that happen, I’m just saying …

that commercial is living proof that Tiger Woods is the absolute worst actor in the history of the world

Is that what it was? I was always to busy laughing at the “exploding” kitty (BrotherCadfael - that’s exactly what it looked like!!) to notice what they were advertising

I’m sure he’ll cry about that tonight while he’s sleeping with his beautiful woman on a huge pile money :slight_smile:

I LOVE that bunny commercial!

You can watch it online here:

The very first time I saw the bunnies I sat there in creeped-out fascination.
Now I can’t quit giggling! My husband gets annoyed because I will stop fast forwarding through commercials just to watch that one.

Now if you want a creepy ad, check out these ads from Ford off of Snopes.
Cat = creepy
Pigeon = funny

It is a few months old but the one I love is the one for, I think Computer Associates. The guy tells his boss he has the entire presentation in his head when he smacks into a file cabinet and is out cold. No problem, in the meeting room, lackey #2 says he has it all covered when his hand slips on a piece of paper and he jams his jaw onto the table. Out cold and the looks on everyone face was priceless.

I cringe and laugh at the same time every time I see that one.

Oh, the Cadbury Egg ones are even better this year! They are set up like 1950s horror movies, sorta. Low camera angles and creepy “Hallowe’en music,” and dingy brown colour palette on screen.

Eg/
Little girls wakes up in bed… Hmm, something isn’t quite right… looks under pillow gasp Cadbury Egg! Where did that come from?? Kid is bug-eyed! Music strikes ominous chord!..

Camera pans back, you see the littel white, fluffy, Easter Bunny, hiding in the shadows under the bed with his wiggling nose, “bock, bock, bock, bock…”

It would be genuinely disconcerting and creepy if it weren’t for the total overacting hamminess of it. They all look like they are overacting in an Ed Wood flick.
