My favorite mixed drink is a Rusty Nail. And yours?

Summer: gin and tonic with lime. Winter: White Russian. (can’t think of anything for spring or summer, I guess I drink wine then.) Actually, I can’t think of many cocktails I’ve had. I’ve never had a martini. Or any of those cocktails they put in a martini glass and still call it a '_____ 'martini. ick.

A mixture of pineapple juice, vodka and Blue Curacao is officially designated the “Blue Hawaiian,” but I prefer to think of it as “Smurf Blood.”

Cape Codder (hold the lime)

An old fashioned, but in the summer I enjoy a Tennessee Highball, or a Petworth Punch.

Lemon, lime and bitters

Whatever’s part of the half price mixed drinks menu

Failing that, a Dark and Stormy.

Amaretto Sour.

Sometimes I feel like tequila was invented just to make me happy.

Gin & tonic in the summer. Now that I think about it, I don’t drink mixed drinks in the winter. Weird.

Canadian Club. Rocks. Splash of water.

If that doesn’t qualify, a Gibson.

There is really just one mixed drink that I love: Bloody Mary.

The others I just tolerate (or not).
mmm

I’m more of a beer or wine guy, but I won’t say no to a screwdriver.

Vodka and ice. A really skilled bartender gets the two in perfect proportions.

I saw that in “Bartending for Dummies”. They said that most people order it by saying,“Give me a vodka and grapefruit juice.”

Bloody Caesar (extra spicy) is my favorite patio drink, barely beating out the deadly Long Island Ice Tea (they sneak up on you)!

Hard to pass up on a good gin and tonic.

Runners up: Old Fashioned, Manhattan, gimlet, Tom Collins. Yes, I prefer gin and whiskey based mixed drinks above most others, with a few rum exceptions. And I’ll automatically enjoy anything that has both gin and citrus.

Whiskey sour or a screwdriver, though I’m working on expanding my horizons. Like margaritas too.

Very dry vodka martini made with Tito’s vodka.
Chill the glass, shake the vodka in an ice filled shaker.
Empty glass. Place a bit of dry vermouth in it and toss out the remainder that doesn’t cling to the glass.
Strain shaker contents into chilled glass.
Enjoy.

Stoly’s served ice cold or on the rocks.

Bourbon and coke. Rarely a Black and Tan, if that counts.

I don’t order mixed drinks that have more than 2 ingredients anymore. Bad experiences (such as ordering a Manhattan and getting a bourbon based beverage served on ice in a highball glass garnished with a orange wedge ) have led me to believe that knowledgeable bartenders are too far and few in between to bother.

However, if Rachel Maddow wanted to make me a drink, I’d gladly accept.
