My First Post

This is scary than I thought it’d be after so many years of lurking.

So… hi, everyone.

Hey.

Cream filled?

Welcome - now you’re hooked. (bwahaha) we’ll keep the goat chained up for now

Just relax and have fun. We won’t eat you.

On second thought . . .

 Seriously now, this is supposed to be what you do for fun and you can’t hardly mess up, so just relax and enjoy yourself. Welcome to the board.

Welcome, Twinkie, to the boards. Prepare to spend a lot of time here as the 'Dope is very addictive. Love your screen name!
Jake

Twinkie!!!

Oh, man I’m in trouble, I know what today’s mid-dinner snack’s gonna be…

Welcome to the board, enjoy the stay.
Someone will usually come along with the margaritas. Beware room 6. At least I think it is room 6.

Jim

Wow. My first response to my first post is from QtM! I’m so thrilled - I love to read your work-tales, and the thread singing your praises tipped the scales in favor of signing up here.

I can’t respond to anything else yet, because I need to know if I was actually able to get the coding for bold text right.

You’re doin’ jes’ fine, Twinkie, and welcome aboard!

OK - I can bold. Which, it turns out, is easier than being bold. That, in turn, means I won’t answer the “cream-filled” question.

anyrose, goats don’t like Twinkies. They like tin cans and shoes and flower beds and stuff. But keep him chained up anyway.

TubaDiva, relaxing and enjoying myself are high on my list of priorities, but low on my list of successes. Working on it…

Jake, hi, and thanks!

MBG - good thing I’m on the East Coast!

What Exit - I’ll make sure not to follow you…

CK D H - I’m bolding like crazy! Can I use italics too? Maybe…

Next, you’ll learn how to change fonts, and colors, and sizes.
Posting is FUN
  :dubious:  :smack: :stuck_out_tongue: :wally  ;j   :o  :frowning:

perhaps I should have made the **font ** and **color ** differences clearer

You might as well pick up a few tricks like invisible posting and spoilers.
For invisible letters use [ color=white ]This is the white text, almost impossible to read [ / color ] Just remove the spaces I showed after the open bracket and before the close bracket. It looks like this. Double clicking the blank spot will display it.
For Spoilers use [ spoiler ] hidden message [ /spoiler ] Like this:

Welcome to the board, what part of the East Coast do you live in?

Triple clicking a spoiler will reveal what it says.

Some stickies that are worth reading over the next few weeks:
FAQ - guidelines for posting at the SDMB
vB Code List Though some of these are disabled.

If you want to contact a Mod for a problem in a thread, click on the little Red Triangle with the ! in the upper right corner of each post.

If you want to see how somebody did a fancy piece of coding click the reply button and you can see the code.

Fonts, colors, and invisible posts? Oh, my!

I think I’ll take this a little slower. I need to get past the “oooh, what does THIS button do?” phase first!

My part of the East Cost is right near your part, What Exit. I’m in NY, but on a clear day, you can see New Jersey.

East Cost. We call it that because it’s so expensive to live here. It’s also know as the East Coast, to some…

My first typo. That’s exciting, too!

New York? Neighbor! Lawn Guylandt here.

You have clear days? :stuck_out_tongue:

The Dope is a feast for the mind
Attracting all manner and kind
But what do we lack?
A cream-licious snack!
Then Twinkie appears. What a find!

Snacks in the middle of dinner…hmm, I might have to try this.

Now that the thunderbooms have stopped, can you see me waving from New Jersey Twinkie? And Welcome Aboard!

Yes, Annie-Xmas, I can see you waving! Hi! We’re really neighbors - I’m closer to Bergen than I am to anyrose out there in Lawn Guylandt. Sorry, anyrose! I’m over the other river!

And I got a poem! I really should have signed up sooner.

Thanks for rolling out the welcome wagon! Off to do kinda-fun Friday night things. (Not big fun. Maybe next week.)
