Nah, too easy.
I’ve gotten one warning, and that was five years ago.
I don’t go to my user CP all that often, but it seems like I’m there a few times a year for one reason or another. And yeah, I’ll confess to being rankled by that warning, especially because they never could tell me what I was being warned for.
(The warning is for failure to follow a moderator’s instructions. I had two posts in the thread in question, and I asked which post I didn’t follow the instructions in, or whether it had been some combination of the two. The moderator wouldn’t tell me, and the admins wouldn’t tell me, despite repeated requests. So to this day, I still don’t know what I said that I got the warning for. OK, I’ve been warned not to do…what?? Really effective warning, there.)
Actually, it seems to have worked real well, since you’ve never done it again.
Yeah, I dont get the “expires never” thing either. The Staff has said they dont count or consider really old one, so why not drop them off after a period of time? Why annoy the customers pointlessly?
It’s one of the few perks of the job.
Ah, Free coffee mug, jackboots and annoying those customers who truly deserve it. Not a bad cafeteria plan, really.
Not for nothing, but where Lynn is, she’s still keeping a VERY CLOSE EYE on you.
( Man I miss her… )
Went to User C.P. Cannot find where to look for Warnings. Does this mean I have none? ( I thought I had 2. )
Hmm.
You don’t have any under the current automated infraction system, which was instituted in 2009. If you really want to know, you have three from 2004-2006 under the former manual system (file cabinets with index cards behind the hamster cages;)), but these won’t show up on your user CP or profile.
Me, too - I went 14 years without a warning, just received my first this year.
I think Cecil should sell indulgences, like medieval popes.
Sure. $10 per infraction, after a year, why not!
Um. Thank you.
Man that's embarrassing.
I have, um…more than one infraction. It seems that Marley is my bane on this board, since all of them came from him. While it does say that they never expire, they are also listed with zero points, so I presume that means they are there merely for the historical record. My guess is if I go off the deep end and start flinging the insults that they might be taken into account, but that it will be my trending behavior at that time which will get me a time out or ban-hammered.
I wouldn’t sweat it, OP. While I don’t see them as any sort of badges of honor (getting Pitted where folks actually take your side and turn on the OP like hungry sharks is the ultimate badge of honor, IMHO :)), I don’t think you need to fret about them either.
We don’t use all the options of the automated vBulletin infraction system. It allows the assignment of points to particular offenses (like on a driver’s license), and the withdrawal of permissions (such as starting threads or posting) based on point totals accumulated. It also allows issuing an infraction as a “warning,” in which no points are assigned. (We call any infraction we issue a warning, but don’t assign any points. What the system calls a warning we call a mod note, with the difference that we don’t record mod notes in the automated system.)
Given that your most recent warning is from 2011, they are effectively dead letters.
Well, you did ask.
If anyone wants to make it less obvious that they have warnings on the UserCP, but doesn’t want to run a script, clicking the little arrow thingy* at the right hand side of the blue bar will hide the list.
*Highly technical term.
…that’ll teach ME to ask things…
That’s 3 people or so in the thread who went over a decade with no infractions, and have multiple since 2011 or thereabouts.
Add me to the list. 2000-2011: 0 infractions. 2011-2015: Four infractions.
What’s changed?
They didnt start recording them on your profile until 2009.
Or… (joke ahead, warning, warning the following is to be taken as a joke) you became a asshole in 2011. (end joke) :D:p
On the other hand, I got three infractions between 2003 and 2005, and none since then. What has changed?
You should go down to the quarry and throw that warning in. That’d show 'em what fer.
