My sorta yacht-y MMP

I was stuck in a meeting from almost 2 hours. It was wonderful… the kind of meeting where Person A says “I totally agree with Person B” and then proceeds to say something that’s exactly the opposite of what Person B actually said, and where Person C then pipes up and says “I think you may have misunderstood B” and proceeds to say something that is also entirely different from what Person B said AND misinterprets what Person A just finished saying. Clearly, a very productive and beneficial use of my time.

And now I’m craving lasagna. And cheese-stuffed sausage balls.

taxi, it sounds like you’re on a pumpkin kick. Despite the fact that I can’t stand her personality, I do agree that some of Rachael Ray’s recipes are still quite good (or should I say “yum-O”? ) and the sausage-pumpkin pasta sounds right up my alley. I think I might try that one next week.

Also, re: leftover phyllo - I know you specifically asked for baklava, but if you do want to try something just a teensy bit more advanced and infinitely more delicious, I have a recipe for Phyllo Rolls with Date-Pomegranate Fillling and Honey Syrup that’s to die for.

The cheese-stuffed sausage balls are AWEsome! (And also from RR.)

I am. It’s the changing leaves and the fall weather. It makes me want to eat apples and pumpkin/winter squash.

Yeah, she’s a bit cheerleader-ish, but when it comes to food that normal people can make on a weeknight, she’s got a big edge over many of the Food Network chefs. And if you don’t watch the show and just pick up recipes on their website, she can’t annoy you. Plus, a lot of her recipes have the meat and veggies in one dish, which I really like. I don’t like making the main dish and then having to come up with something involving veggies on the side. And, well, RR’s from Upstate NY like I am and her show was on locally before she got all famous and stuff so I give her more of a pass since we’re practically neighbors. :stuck_out_tongue:

Where in the world do you get (well, where does one get) pomegranate molasses?? Or walnut oil in large quantities? They sound good, but I’m not sure I want to put quite that much effort into it. But we’ll see. They do sound amazing.

Pomegranate molasses are a common ingredient in middle eastern cuisines. Try stores run by or in areas populated by Lebanese, Moroccans or Persians. We tend to get ours from the local Quickie-Mart type store, since the ones in our area are run by Lebanese families.

The molasses are incredibly sour if you try a spoonful on its own, but if you stir a little bit into a sauce/stew/dressing/whatever, it adds this nice tangy/sour base note (kind of like tamarind)… in this recipe, it’s kind of a must-have ingredient because it tempers the rich/sweet date and honey flavours.

If you can’t find it, you can also boil down POM or any other pure pomegranate juice until it goes thick and syrupy.

Walnut oil in large quantities could be somewhat expensive, but I would imagine that you could just as easily sub melted butter or a mild veggie oil (ie. anything but EVOO) The only reason the recipe specifies walnut oil is that the rolls were originally made those for a kosher non-dairy Rosh Hashana dinner, which nixes butter.

Lasagne is in the oven. It should be done in about 20 minutes or so.

**FCD **is taking tomorrow off to work on the new kitchen. I’m going to stay at the office so I can get some rest. It’ll be a busy weekend anyway - we hope to install the countertops and the flooring. In fact, we hope to finish the kitchen.

Nothing more exciting to share. Such is life…

Thanks for the info, Muppet! I think for this time I’m going to stick with baklava or maybe give up on sweets and make borek instead, but I’ve bookmarked the recipe for the next time I’m feeling adventurous!

Mmmmm… lasagna. I don’t suppose you feel like sharing, FCM?

Home, after some delays involving a derailed streetcar that stopped all bus/streetcar traffic from entering or exiting the station. Thankfully, it was resolved fairly quickly, which I am thankful for as I wasn’t wearing the right footwear to trudge home (it’s 15 mins in the right shoes, which means more like 30 mins in my sexy-bitch boots).

So now I’m killing a half an hour with the kitties and a little Dope-surfing, and then I’m heading out to meet some friends for margaritas and Tex Mex grub. I’m very much excited about the margaritas part.

(oh, and Borek sounds really yummy,** taxi**)

Mmm, Tex Mex and margaritas. I could surely use one right about now. I just got home from work. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to water aerobics tonight, but I don’t think I would have really put my all into it today anyways since I’m so tired.

There’s been too much drama in this day and it wears me out. I think I’ll be going to bed early.

Evenin’ Y’all! Home and fed and sippin’ on a bloody mary. What? I have mix left over from Sunday and gotta use it up. One can’t let good bloody mary mix go to waste now can one? Come to think of it… I’ve sipped on bloody mary’s all week. Haven’t even had one beer. How unlike moi!

Rebo IMO they could condense this training down to three weeks easily, but it ain’t my decision, so suffer through I must. I made three more hunnerts on tests today, so I’m good. Next week is all about pricing plans and all the different types of ATT mobile devices. I just know y’all wish you could be me. :stuck_out_tongue:

OOOOOOOH! Two people got walked out of training today and right out the door! One for surfin’ instead of going through on-line training modules and tests and the other for fallin’ asleep. I do mean asleep! As in rared back in the chair, mouth opened, snorin’! I sit all the way across the room and I heard her snore! Anywho, both incidents happened yesterday and this mornin’ they got walked out. Literally. To their vehicles.

‘Twas excitatin’!

Thus endeth the news from swampland.

my kitteh doesn’t walkabout - she has never liked the out of doors. She does, however, ignore me if I don’t share my dinner with her.

**Swampy **just reminded me, there’s a lifeguard on Thursday nights that tends to doze off while on duty. He did it the last two times that I was there. I was going to see if he did it again tonight while I was there and if so I was going to report him. Hope nobody drowns tonight.

 Wow, I guess they take their training seriously! Either Miss Snorer had a loooong night, or the training is ridiculously boring. Probably both, huh?

Taters it ain’t the most excitatin’ stuff in the world but Ms. Snoozer did sign on for training as a customer rep. I mean anybody should figure there ain’t a lot of glamour in helpin’ somebody set up their mobile services, compare plans or help somebody understand their phone bill and that there is a lot of technical stuff there and learning a system, all it’s ins and outs and quirks etc is not a day at happy funland. That’s why caffiene and breaks exist.

BTW the A-3 buttons on the cawfee machine at work will give ya quite a jolt of caffiene for fiddy cents! WOOHOO!!!

I got off early, and crashed for four hours. I vacuumed and steamed the rug, and am cleaning the bathroom. I’m gonna watch my friend DC play hockey tonight.

Added a link to the phyllo yummy stuff to the blog. I already had a link to the pumpkin sausage pasta recipe.

Hi Soapy!!! How are things going? I notice some people are neglecting their duty to keep you company. ::Glares at culprit::

Long day at work. Brother and his kids will be here either tomorrow or Saturday. Still need to finish putting my room back together again, but need to get out to Target first to get my darling nephew a birthday present (his birthday is on Monday).

I probably won’t have the house quite where I want it before they get here, but…they’re family and they’re flexible and I refuse to stress myself out about it. (I was starting to stress, but gave myself a stern talking-to.)

Back eventually…

I just finished my voting cheat sheet so I can go early vote tomorrow.

This is the year I got smart and wrote down who I want to vote for. I always forget half of them as soon as I see the ballot.

Very good, Spaz! I know most of my candidates, but there are always some obscure ones that I have to write down. I’m not voting till the 4th because I really like actually going to the polls (and my precinct is around the corner, so I can roll out of bed, put on sweats, go vote, then resume my normal pre-work routine). I’m going to try to be there when they open so that I don’t have to worry about the line being particularly long.

I have been a bad GT. ::hangs head insincerely:: Went to Target and saw that they had Season 2 of Bones. So, instead of doing lots of clean up and room restoration, I’m going to lounge on the couch and watch a couple of eps. I’m still tired from having slept poorly last night, so I’m using that as my official excuse.

Off to play couch potato.

Supper was teh YUM!!! We ate just over half of it, and the rest is in the freezer for a future dinner. I just finished helping to grade a bunch of papers for 2nd graders - great fun. Since **FCD **isn’t going into work tomorrow, I’m going to get up early and start early, so I can leave early. Yay!

Bernie weirded me out this morning. She made me take her out THREE TIMES before work - usually once is quite enough. Plus overnight, she’d pooed and peed in the family room. I left a note and my daughter took her out once, and SIL took her out 3 times. Plus when daughter and I took her out, she wanted to eat grass! Insanity!! But by the time I got back from work, she was her old Bernie self.

We may have to replace the carpet in the blue bedroom - daughter’s cat peed all over the place - the carpet is stained and the deodorizers aren’t working. The carpet isn’t 2 years old… grrrrrrrrr Methinks we’re going to make them replace it.

I want chocolate. NOW. <sigh>

Methinks your daughter and SiL should offer to replace the carpet since their cat ruined it. Only two years old? That’s practically new for carpeting.

Urgh. I am SUPPOSED to work 8 (eight) hours, folks. That’s the shift I signed on for and that’s the shift you want to pay me for.

So’s how’s come I end up being there for 10, 11 and even 12 hours? And I have to go back tomorrow for MORE!

The check is nice, I’ll grant that-and we need it. But I’m a tahred Rigs. :frowning:
And this one LOL made me homicidal. I can’t even describe how. I pity her daughters who are going to help her tonight-they’re in for a long night. She’s as sharp as a tack and about as much fun…

Perhaps a nice glass of red wine and bubble bath are what you need right now, rigsy.
