My Very First MMP

Not only am I working today, but I left the Orycon 35 Dead Dog party at 6am this morning to do so. At least I had brains enough to have someone drive me to work…but those were the only brains I had left. When she drooped me off at the gate I found a Subway breakfast flatbread in my bag, and I don’t even remember stopping there.

I ordered some stuff in the mail. I hope it comes soon.

We played a stupid game in class where we had (sometimes moderately controversial, sometimes very controversial) things written on cards and we had to say if we agreed with them or not. My friend and I hoarded all the dirtiest cards and laughed at them. Hey, I gotta amuse myself somehow in class.

I’m still in class now. I don’t have a holiday today, but the bank does. A shame, because I wanted to go to the bank. (That’s the way it works here - some get Nov. 11 off, and some don’t. We didn’t this year.)

3rd try at posting, my words keep floating off into the ether. So I will simply say good morning my mmper budz! Happy Moanday!

No vowels.

More fly blue roof?

I was the first person up in my house today. And I have the day off, so I have a to do list going.

Leftover green bean casserole for breakfast. Added a litte turkey.

I met OYKW for N.O.L. at The Cookie Shop. They make sammiches too so we did not have just cookies for N.O.L. although I can see nuttin’ wrong with that. Anywho, they make really good cookies so I have a dozen each of chewy chawklit chip cookes and oatmeal raisin cookies. OYKW took two dozen chewey chawklit chip cookies back to his orifice thus ensurin’ he is the most popular person in the world this afternoon at least as far as his irk is concerned.

loo this is death chikin. it’s there somewhere. Scroll until you find it. Also, you might want to ensure you have a linky to the Mumper Recipe blog. Some good eatin’ to be found up in there!

Guess who overslept? And was then distracted by the spectacle of nephew not wanting to go to school (change is hard; he feels behind; people ignore him; life is difficult).

Thanks for getting us started, Lucky!

Needless to say my “day off” hasn’t been what I’d hoped. So, instead, I’m being lazy and staying in bed much longer than reasonable.

Here’s the Death Chicken recipe, lieu.

Guess I should get presentable… Am going to go meet the guidance counselor in a bit.

Hugs all.

GT

Second try:

Firsts huh? Well I was the first born child, and the first female grandchild, not that I had anything to do with either. I was the first non-native approved by the tribal council to move into the village on Kodiak Island, and I had a lot of personal firsts there, but those all require a story for each incident. I was the first person awake today, which is always nice.

In fact, I awoke to a brilliant PNW blue sky morning, and my garden is ablaze with golds and oranges and reds. I love autumn. After all the years up north I can’t seem to adjust to the heat of the summers here. After three years (next month) I have yet to wear my coat, lol!

I don’t remember if I shared, but my mom died in July. Just writing that sentence, and this, closes my throat, my eyes get wet and I don’t want to break down today. damn I held her hand and sang as she left, as she had asked me to. Her final request had been that after she exhaled for the last time she wanted us to sing When The Saints Come Marching In. Yeah, that was the most difficult time I have ever had singing, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to sing that song again. It seems that mom was the glue that held the family together, as we have all drifted away. My step dad has done some really awful things wrt her belongings, but that’s another story. I moved here to be with her, and now that she’s gone I am thinking about selling my house and moving down to the SW corner of the state to be closer to my grand kids.

So, my mom was the first parent I have lost.

Now I gotta go wipe these wet eyes and find another cup of coffee.

Thanks all. I’m very happy to say dear ol’ Mom makes it under a different name and heck yeah, it is awesome. I’ll have to let her know there’s a new monniker for it though and that she better ketch up.

It’ll be leftover smoked turkey sammitches with lots of mayo, pickles, heritage tomatos, etc for dinner. The turk had creole butter injection, underskin chimichurri wet rub and some seasonings on top before the oak and pecan smokin’. Yummers to be sure.

ETA: That was very sweet, {{{kaiwik}}}.

FIRST time posting in MMP!!!

Irk allows me to loiter, yet methinks SDMB is causing my system to crash because it only happens when I’m on it (which is 6 out of 8 hours while irking)- no tech skills and cannot show my hand to the tech guys because then I will be outed and then really have to IRK!

Watching weather because its supposed to drop to 48 degrees and then 30 by Wednesday am. Obsessed with winter since I grew up in the desert.

Leftovers tonight- roast and taters and such… sigh, I need to really diet.

Made it through a grueling yard sale without killing either of my parents (a hugely triumphant victory for me plus it saves me the trouble of finding a spot to dig a couple of holes) and made some $$, which took a teeny tiny little bit of the sting out of having to do some incredibly painful jettisoning and downsizing. (Bonus: give me your most outrageous suggestions for hiding money here.) My muscles are sore as hell, so for once I’m thankful I have a sedentary job and can stretch discreetly in the relative privacy of my beige little cubicle.

In other news, I was in line at CVS last week and since the woman in front of me was taking for-freaking-ever I was perusing their insanely varied candy selections, and discovered a new reason to live:

Dark Chocolate Snickers.

My God, I didn’t know these existed. Are they new? Anyway, I’m nibbling on it at my desk (breakfast of champions!!) and feeling like this might not be the shittiest Monday on record. That’s about as positive as I can get, but hey! Positive!

Hey, welcome! Which desert did you grow up around? I loves me some desert, cool vegetation, critters and rocks everywhere.

Welcome!
Do not load any money to Swampy, Jim or Vunderbob.

I had french fries at lunch! After a week of oatmeal and soup and mashed potatoes, I can almost chew normally again. I’m still working on the right side when I’m accustomed to chewing on the left, but I was able to eat lunch like a real person and not an invalid. Today is a great day.

I’m also excited because Roomie is going away this weekend and I’ll have five days all alone. It’s disappointingly cold these days, though, so I might have to wear pants more often than I like to when I have the house to myself.

purplehorseshoe, I am not actually a fan of dark chocolate in general, but there are occasions when it’s totally worth it. Occasions that involve caramel and peanuts. nod I approve. I also really like the Milky Way Midnights.

Now I need a reason to go to CVS. Aw heck, who am I kiddin’, DARK CHAWKLIT SNICKERS would be reason enough!

redux this will work until a proper nickname is given, I have no idea how anyone would load money, but it sounds like it could be fun. Basically, we ignore flytrap, except when we want to make fun of him. :stuck_out_tongue:

Giving money to me, however, is okay.

Just make the check out to ‘anyrose’ and I’ll be sure Midget gets it.

Happy Moanday all

Welcome Redux

Loaning me money is a bad idea, giving me money is a great one, just sayin’

Jim

Now I’m off to irk.

Thank you all for the welcomes, so so happy to be back on the SDMB from a hiatus of oh, I don’t know, about 7 years!!!

I’m from the 24 hour 7 days a weeks twinkly lights desert of Las Vegas.

As for loading/loaning, notoriously bad at both since my background is finance/collections/legal
