(Native) American Graffiti - A West Texas MMP

And you did not make plans to meet up with our very own Moonie!?:p:eek:
For shame, I say. For shame!!

Sounds like quite a week you had there! No wonder your body gave in at the end. I think mine would have, too. Glad you’re OK, though!

er, um, ah, because I didn’t think of it? (hangs head in shame)

So, Rosie a week of carousin’ and poker playin’ made ya all weak in the knees did it? Seriously, glad you’re ok and glad you had fun.

I’ve never eaten a mulberry though I’ve been around plenty of mulberry bushes (trees?) cause they just look nasty. Also, if’n y’all are sayin’ they taste like blackberries then I for sure ain’t eatin’ 'em cause blackberries are the nastiest fruit evah! ICK!

Dindin tonight is leftover ribs, chicken laigs, N.O.T. sallit and fresh corn on the cob. I’s cleanin’ out the fridge.

Special1 Tel Aviv is substance. “An hour south of Armageddon” is style. Always choose style over substance. :stuck_out_tongue:

Home. what a day…

**FCD **hit the road early this morning, and it was odd that I hadn’t heard from him by lunch time. I went out to my car to get my phone (they’re not allowed in the building past the lobby) and there was a text from him saying he couldn’t call out. I tried calling him and it went straight to voice mail. So I called AT&T to see if they could help me - the nice lady tried all kinds of thing for about half an hour, but to no avail. At one point I was disconnected - I think I lost signal - and since I didn’t know the lady’s name, I didn’t know how to get connected to her again. So I called my kid and asked her to text her dad. (my text function wasn’t working.)

She called me about 15 minutes later, after I’d gone back to my desk, to let me know he was in SC. Then, on the way home, he called me - the phone apparently fixed itself. Anyway, he was in Georgia, about 100 miles from Jax. I figure he’ll hit Ocala between 6 and 7 this evening.

Possibly bad news about FIL - they’re thinking now he may have a probelm with his heart. They’re doing some kind of scope test tomorrow to look at the back of the heart. Glad **FCD **is going to be there. I hope it doesn’t mean more surgery…

Meanwhile, it’s me and the critters till Saturday. I hate cooking for one. On the other hand, maybe I can play in my studio in the evenings. Tho maybe not tonight - I had a bad night and I’m tired.

Two down, three to go.

Damn skippy we do. And not just because of their current obsession with all things MJ, either.

swampus, that just leaves plenty more mulberries for me, and that’s a good thing. Nom nom nom. I’m hoping some will be ready for picking by the time I get home tonight (they were still a tetch unripe yesterday).

ETA: Forgot to mention I’ve got my fingers crossed for FIL, Mooooooom. Hope all goes well with the test tomorrow.

Appropriate hugs and whatnots all around. I am home from the oral surgeon’s office, minus one and a half (well, a molar plus a tiny nerdle anyway) teeth. Emotionally, I feel soooooo much better. Physically? Not sure yet. Still numb. Icing away.

This is minor compared to Moooom’s FIL, but it’s big for me. I hope they’re wrong about the possible new problems and that he’ll be fine.

This.

Hmmm… I’m mulling it over.

If I do change my “Location,” though, I think even better than “One hour south…” would be just “An hour from Armageddon.”

Forgot to mention before – best of wishes for FCM’s FIL! Oh, and Cell Phones can get all weird like that when “Roaming.” **FCD **probably just went out of a poor coverage area (or one without reciprocal Voice contracts with your carrier) and back into a better coverage / recip. contract area…

**SnowBunny **-- hope your tooth extraction aftermath goes as cleanly as possible!

**Muppet **-- you should totally come live here. I didn’t have to listen to even one word about MJ all day! Still no rain, though…

Folks, whenever you get a “no service” or “no service available” type message on yer cellphone, try turnin’ it off, count to five, turn it back on. More often than not that will fix the problem. The dang things can get wonky from time to time like all things electronic. What this does is just get the silly thing to refresh itself. Poor thing just may need itself a refreshment.

Special1 an hour from Armageddon… hmmmm… now that’s style!

Soapy style over substance means it’s not how you get there, but how you look when you get there. This valuable lesson was taught in that cinema classic, To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.

Have I ever mentioned I’m gay?

The hits just keep on coming. I called my mom, and found out my sister’s husband is in the hospital, too - kidney stones, they think. Poor guy. At least he’s not missing work, being unemployed and all. :frowning:

I’m thinking I’ll go see Mom on Saturday. She needs help with some stuff and I want to get some catnip and some flowers from her. I may even take the dogs. If I time it right, I can stop by Clayworks and get the clay I need to finish making the cats for my sister. At least 50# more, I think.

I’ve got crab imperial in the oven (toaster oven) made with fake crab. I’ll have some Amish 'maters with it. And ice cream after. I hate eating alone, but at least I can make what I want and not worry if anyone else will like it.

I don’t think I like being home alone. It’s too quiet - even with the TV going. But I can park in the middle of the garage!

**swampy **- he did turn the phone off then on - dunno how long he left it off tho. It’s a crackberry, if that matters.

Oh, swampus, I most definitely know what it means! Love that movie! Have I mentioned that secretly I am a gay guy, too?

Ah, Anthrocon explains why I couldn’t get ahold of my friend, who I’ll call Joe ('cause that’s his name), when I tried to call on Saturday. I guess I’ll have to try to call again soon so I can get all the juicy details.

Sounds like a good time, rosie. Sorry you had to call for help, though. But burly cops are good.

I haven’t tried mulberries before either. Dunno if they grow around here.

{{**FCM **& family}}

Glad the tooth extraction went ok snowbunny.

I think the giant blister on my thumb appears to be deflating a little bit. Still looks like some weird growth though.

I think this week is going to be a <40 hour work week. Don’t tell anyone, k?

Ummm…are others aware of this fact as well,? I’ve always wanted to see that movie and have never quite made it. I agree on the style over substance ruling, BTW. (Of course, I don’t currently have anything stylish to put in my location, but welcome suggestions…)

Sorry about FIL’s news, FCM.

::raises hand in answer to taxi’s MJ poll:: I’ve scanned some of the coverage, but refuse to be taken over by it.

Hope the teeth are better quickly, snowbunny.

The crappy medical news is hitting the other end of the age spectrum in my family this week. I just found out my cousin’s youngest started limping last week. They found a lump in his leg and were doing a biopsy today. Little guy is four. :frowning:

On the nice side of life, FarAway Best Friend called to confirm that I’ll be joining her (and her enormous group of students - 22, I think) in Chicago in September. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to arrange for a proper Dopefest, but will try to at least meet up with **rigs **and MBG sometime during the week we’re there. (I’ll be there from 9/3-9/9, I think.)

Tonight’s dinner: peas. And one kiwi fruit. And chocolate. That seems like enough, somehow.

Need to get to the grocery for yogurt and fruit.

Back later…

GT

Nooner, it might not be that big of a change. I mean, I spend half my days dealing with Israelis as it is. On the other hand, I’d have to complain about the lack of rain even more than I already do, and I’d rather have Tim Horton’s over Aroma any day of the week.

{{{Mooooooooooooom}}}

I’ve got some candy cane beets from the market roasting away in the oven, which will shortly get sliced up and tossed with baby spinach and some balsamic, and possibly sprinkled with a crumbling of lemon feta (also from the market and which, incidentally, was recently served to the Emperor of Japan… all the more reason to buy it, just so I could say I’ve eaten the same cheese as an emperor. La dee da.) We shall serve the sallit with some grilled chicken snausages we also picked up at the market.

Why yes, I do love my farmers market. Why do you ask?

My sweetie arrived in FL a little while ago - he said it was 780 miles. And his phone wouldn’t call out again, altho he was able to send me an email. I told him to turn it off for a bit - we’ll see if that works. Otherwise, he’ll have to go to the AT&T store, I think. He’ll figure it out.

I think I’m going to assume the knitting position. I need comfy time.

South of Pie and North of da swamp(y)

I have a ‘thinking too much’ headache. Yuck. Perhaps a Bailey’s milkshake may be in order.

I am going to be sooooo good and do everything the way I’m supposed to for the next few days. So far so good. I’m stocked up on soup and other easy things to eat. I think I might scramble some eggs a bit later. Yum. I can’t tell if I’m still numb or not. I don’t think so after all this time, though. Guess that means the pain meds are working as advertised. Yay.

Still, I’ve been worried about this for months. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of me. I have some other unrelated weights but at least one of them is now gone.

swampy, you’re what? I had no idea! g

Two down, three to go …

Many hugs, good thoughts and prayers to all those in need of them. I’m a bit wiped out tonight as I woke up at 3 am and decided to just go ahead and get ready for the day. Let me tell ya, that’s probably not a good idea. Although I did get in to work early and made a bit of credit time … it probably wasn’t worth it.

Glad to hear that you had a good time, Rosie, but sorry about your knee and hope the swelling is going down. Good thoughts sent to your FIL, FCM along with hopes that there’s nothing seriously wrong.

Good to see ya again, SpecialOne—that one armed paper hanger gig is awful, isn’t it?! Soapy, the highlights look great!!

Take care all.

Well, it seems some people here are in need of big hugs and good vibes.

Seriously, I hope the bad medical news turns around for those affected.

What a day. I woke up to HUUUUUUGGGGEEE piles of dog hork on the stairway landing, plus two more piles by the sliding glass door. I tried to get some of it cleaned up before I left for work, but what I did clean up made me late and I didn’t want to be too late. So, unfortunately, my kids had to clean the rest up. I’ll have to really scrub the spots and hit the stairway with the steamcleaner.

My computer was acting wonky at work, but I finally got that squared away. Then my glasses fell apart at work, so I had to stop on the way home and get them fixed. I need new glasses, but they’ll have to wait a bit.

We’re heading off to a 50th wedding anniversary party this weekend in The Dalles, OR. We’re leaving Friday and the party is Saturday. Hopefully, we’ll have lots of fun.

Gotta check on chop chop now.

The Dope wasn’t working for me this morning. Hugs, drugs, beer, and gropes for all!
