Need help with a domain name Dopers!

Ok, youse lot being the smartest and hippest folk on the planet, I’m setting up a personal website and need some ideas for a domain name.

Last month I went on holiday and kept my FB friends (and some on a page devoted to holidaying at the place) updated with our daily stuff, and the feedback I received suggested it might be a good idea to set up a blog. This was not meant sarcastically just for your info.

So it seems that there are joints out there that will provide templates and domain names for barely more than a latte a week, and I’m happy to avail myself of their services…

BUT I NEED A GOOD NAME!

The blog will be a personal one: me, a grandmother living in chaos with her daughter and grandkids…travels…moving house…life as a telemarketer…which box of wine is the best value…musings on the meaning of life (not so much)…

It will be a sardonic and often sarcastic look at life through my eyes as a 56 yr old woman living in Australia. I WILL try to avoid political comment as much as possible though. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, chuck 'us ya ideas for domain names folks.

As much as I, as a fellow antipodean, want to avoid cliché, the only suggestions I can think of all have “Down Under” in them.

“Down Under Turned Over”
“Inside Under”

Not very happy with either of those. Nor my final best attempt: “Out The Back”

“The Annotated Antipodean”

I should be better at this.

You know, unless that’s the domain for Austria.

I think Australia was one of the very first countries to grab a regional domain, because we use “.com.au” instead of the more common “.co.au”.

(Austria is “.co.at”)

Don’t bother with a domain name. Just sign up with Blogspot or whoever and you’ll be xyz.blogspot.com

As a Graham Greene fan may I suggest Travels With My Arse.

I have no ideas… but I want to follow your blog once it’s set up.
Also, if all you’ll be doing is blogging, then Quartz has a good idea to sign up with blogspot or blogger or whatever.

If you want it easily found, YourName.com (or .co.au, .net, or whatever) is your best bet.

If you don’t care if anyone outside of your immediate circle finds it, figure out what theme you’ll be writing in (which can be broad); and name based on that theme.
