Since the board seems to like these things, here’s Jack Chick’s latest, The Star. A celebrity is dying…he’ll die twice! The thing I don’t understand is that the celebrity mentions the Pope and a Cardinal. Seeing as the hospital worker never said anything about the Catholic Church being invented by Satan as an attempt to fool Christians, isn’t this guy going to remain a Catholic and go to Hell anyway?
Love it! “Are you coming back?” “I have to clean the toilet.”
She doesn’t mind offending a patient, but can’t take a chance she’ll get fired for not cleaning the toilets quickly enough.
Felt cheated we didn’t see the car crash; but only sinners get the gory treatment.
I’m not referring to The Star. I’m referring to It’s Your Life! and Hard Times, which are new remakes of This Was Your Life and Somebody Loves Me with blacks instead of whites.
As always, I find the stupefying literalness of these Chick tracts to be fascinating. Judgment Day isn’t just a metaphor, it’s your life on a plasma screen with a battery of angelic prosecutors and the Big Guy pronouning sentence. You gotta love it!
Maybe it’s a Canadian thing. I don’t get out of the country much, but I think I heard some 420 mentions on American TV…
Anyway 420 is code for marijuana. People actually celebrate April 20th here (4/20 get it?). Usually they do this by smoking reefer at 4:20pm.
As an aside, I remember watching an episode of “Price Is Right” where a young man is called up and when asked how miuch he’d bid on the item on the stage he said something like “I’ve been waiting my whole life for this Bob, I bid $420!”
What’s the deal with the life movie? “Everybody will get to see it?” So everybody in heaven gets to watch the life movies of everybody else in Heaven and express their opinions before the big J weighs in? Yeesh, that’ll take a while.
Then again, in Chick’s view there are only about 40 people good enough to get into Heaven, anyway.
I like how in every Chick tract people are so willing to just believe another person’s theology and abandon their own beliefs. If this guy had a Haitian nurse, he would have been practicing Voodoo when he died.
