New Dip Chaos Game Forming

Okay, I’m in, and it looks like a nice little SDMB contingent is forming. To that I say –

I see the bad moon arising. I see trouble on the way.

Don’t go around tonight, Well, it’s bound to take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise.

Still a few slots open!

You could just start them as garrison armies that don’t move.

No chance.

Still 3 slots open! Tell your friends!

I actually recognized way more than half the names on that list.

This is gonna be fun.

You just be happy The Packrat has retired.

Well, I still have the rules, and since it’s going to be a free-for-all setup; if there is a spot left, I’d like to try again, if that’s OK.

First off, did you get my email? I never got a reply from you in regards to this game. WL, where’d you see the list? Did I miss a link or email or something?

Secondly, you may or may not have heard or readin the other threads that the Newbie game has lost a pair of players and I’m looking for replacements.

Here’s the link to check out.

SDMB Newbie Game 1092 “-GRY”

France and Russia are the powers in disarray, and both are fairly well positioned. There’s already been 2 powers snuffed out, so we’re solidly in the mid-game phase in the Summer of 1907. Even though the game began as a Newbie game, everyone is now seasoned enough where all comers are welcome to pick up the slack here. Shoot me an email at address in the link in the top of the page linked above. Enjoy.

Bump

I think I was referring to a recipient list on an email JC sent out trying to fill the last 4 slots. Not sure though. But the final email with assignments came out this morning. I think I didn’t see your name on there Omni.

I drew Smyrna – I am not too pleased. Should be fun though.

Where is there to be pleased with?

I dunno, Ankara, Berlin’s decent, maybe Sweden, I wouldn’t mind Sevastopol or Warsaw, or anything with some options.

I just don’t care much for Smyrna, because I have to deal with such a distinct microregion of the three Turkish states, and my tactical position is the worst of the three, I think. It’s not like I’m sepaking from experience. Who knows. At least in this game going out in the first few years isn’t as embarrassing since it happens to half the players in the game.

St. Pete here I come.

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines! We don’t ask for experience, we make it.

NC? SC? or Cossacks?

I’m in Brest, Weirddave is in Holland, Abe_Babe is in Marseilles, McG’s in St. Pete, WL is in Smyrna, my friend Steve is in Warsaw. Don’t recognize any other “IRL” names. Any of the rest of you out there? (I didn’t see any "Ben"s either)

nogginhead is in Rome. Chris Richards, the Moscow player, played Germany in back in 983. That’s it for SDMB involvement, I think.

A lot of names I recognize from CAT23. Probably a good number of big-name players we’re messing with here.

There are a few winners in there. Bill, Tom, Deepak.

Good luck, children.

Honestly, JC you make me blush.

If he really likes you, he’ll call you a super duper pooper!

can i join if a new game is forming?

of course, i haven’t the slightest idea how Diplomacy it is played, but i learn fast, i promise!

Sorry, Abe, I just naturally assumed that JC meant the Tom in Liverpool or the Tom in Constantinople, not the Tom in Marseilles. That’s a buttload of Toms for ya, that’s fer sure.

aasna, this game is full and a strange variant, so it might not be the best way to learn the game. There seems to be a new game start up every few weeks or so. Also there is a need for two replacement players in the Newbie Dip game being GM’ed by Omniscient, so you could contact him if you want to join a game mid-stream. Again, it might not be the best place to learn, but you could get a bit of a taste for the process there.
