I’ll probably join this one. Never done a variant yet. But one question: what’s the Dipping typically like? Meaning, am I going to be spending hours each day trying to convince 33 other folks that my plan is the best? Or does one typically chose a few key allies and work with them, shifting alliances occasionally?
Hmm…what happens if you get Spain, St. Petersburg or Bulgaria in the initial draw and choose to start with a fleet? Do you get to choose which coast to start on?
Shibb, you’ll only have so many neighbors and near neighbors. Communicate with everyone if you want, but how many people you want to is entirely up to you.
Orbifold, yes you’d need to specify which coast you start on. I’d be astonished if someone screwed that up.
Yeah but in this game if someone drops out they just get eaten up. Is this going to be anonymous, JC? I imagine it won’t, but knowing other players will be a serious factor in my decisionmaking. Knowing you can count on somebody at least not to NMR, if not to be honest with you, would make a big difference to me. Not that I expect to know anybody in this game unless the SDMB contingent turns out in force.
Hmm, I’m very tempted. I’ve been feelingskinda pressed with all the games going on, but since I’m going to be eliminated soon in one, I might be willing to chance it.
Whats the turn lengths usually like in this, and how long does this variant tend to take? Do you still need 18 SCs for a win?
