Much being accomplished on the boat, much abandoned wiring being removed. Pics on my FB.
We had soup and salad at Olive garden for lunch so we won’t want supper. Not sure how much longer we’re going to work, but I think we’ll quit in an hour or so.
Meanwhile, the marina is replacing the nasty dock boards. The old ones were really weathered, just short of rotting. I love this marina!
I have a few metal straws at home and have thought about carrying one, but don‘t have any sort of case. Need to look into it.
Oopsie (iPad wants to correct oopsie to lopsided), I am so impressed. Many people wouldn’t bother, and you stepped up.
So speaketh an expert on hospitality. Love this.
Yesterday evening we got a rather strong storm with wind, rain, thunder and lightning. We ended up rolling the tomato plants inside, before they got blown over.
Today we got another deluge, but a lot more wet, and less of the other stuff. Al the rivers and creeks are muddy, as there’s lots of runoff. We really need the water, and we are still under a fire advisory.
Tomorrow I need to add more supports for the tomato plants. I had forgotten to put them in as a pyramid, and the supports were totally inadequate for the storm.
Plus I have a lot of little tasks to do.
But for now, I‘m calling it for the day. Have a Good Friday.
The set I have came with titanium knife/fork/spoon, 2 straws and a slim-line case. I leave them in the glove box of the car for the times the people staffing the drive-thru are sloppy.
Poking in to say “hi.” I have been eating every single day but I am currently devastated about the Roe v Wade thing and it’s washing even more crap out of my brain. (You can figure out the details yourselves.)
So … um … “hi.” Wish I was doing better, but I feel like a walking skeleton with eyeballs.
3.1 miles today, in an hour and four minutes. This time I went up the street, over to the main road, down to the beach, down the beach to Bay Breeze, and then back up the street and up the hill.
ETA: Oh, yeah… I almost got run over by a guy backing his un-restored, early-to-mid-'70s Ford pickup out of the liquor store parking area. I had to slap his tailgate.
Afternoon all. Swimmin’ has been done, got a full mile done in just over 61 minutes, so one mile an hour is within reach. Then toasted for 30 minutes in the sauna, so nice and dried out. Currently 95F outside, so except for getting the mail in, I think indoors will do just fine.
{{shoe}}, politics is not much discussed here in the MMP (and I think that is wise), but I do expect a reaction–maybe not fast or loud, but more of a groundswell…we’ll see.
flyboy, prefer that you don’t get run over…
Oopsie, I’m not a big fan of waffle fries, I am a stunch crinkle-cut sort of guy, but these were better than a lot of others I’ve had to manage.
nellie, good luck with the AC.
OK, need to unbox that shredder and get it set up. All y’all take care.
Lunch didn’t go well: I had 2 oz of a food I’ve had many times before with no issue, and immediately felt pretty sick. Not being able to eat for a second day made me concerned enough to contact the bariatric center’s on-call nurse, who explained that after a night like I had it’s common to need a few days to be able to tolerate solid food again. I had no idea! She said not to rush myself, and to focus on hydrating and having extra protein shakes in the meantime. I’m sure hundreds of less-than-1-year-post-op folks have called her with the same concern, but she was very nice and told me not to worry. Nurses are the best.
I rescheduled the mammogram: I didn’t feel like dealing with that particular discomfort on an empty/sore stomach. I still quit work early, though, and will be going to the grocery store as soon as I click “reply.”
My father and brother are coming here from Baltimore tomorrow evening, and I’m taking them to dinner (I didn’t get to see my dad on Father’s Day). I might not be able to actually eat anything, but at the very least I can hang out with them for a while. I’m hoping to be able to tolerate something by then.
That…might not be inaccurate.
Keep checkin’ in with us…
What-ever.
I’m half Irish, which is how I explain my deep love of all things potato. Tots, baked taters, fries (all kinds), hash browns…they’re all excellent and good and right. Waffle fries, though? An abomination. I should love them, but I really don’t. No idea why.
This MMP has officially gotten away from me, but I wanted to check in anyway.
The Savannah Bananas game was a very fun time.
Since the game we attended was an official summer College-League game we didn’t see the likes of this:
But we did see all of this:
Post-game night life was mellow. Savannah is a very pretty town, and I wouldn’t mind visiting again!
We are now chilling in the hotel in Jacksonville. Going to leave for a pre-game beer or two in a bit.
As always, hugs, yays, and boos to everyone who needs ‘em. And a special shout-out to Shoe, who seems to need all our love right now. Hang in there, friend!
Mowed the back yahd, which took all of 5 minutes. Then weed-eated (weed-ate?) the edges. Another 10 minutes. That was enough for me. It’s 80f out there and I’m an old man with health issues.
We’re getting ready to go over to the valley this evening for a family picnic thing on Sonday.
Not my family. Hers. Who, if anything, are even crazier than mine. We will try mightily not to discuss politics. Much Winco chicken and salads will be consumed. The GirlChild, who is a middle school math teacher, had to work the equivalent of graduation for middle schoolers last week and now has covid. She was supposed to bring the grill fo BBQing. That ain’t happening, hence the store-bought foods. That’s alright. Winco makes righteous chicken.
The Savannah Bananas sound like fun. If we ever get to that side of the country again, we’ll have to check them out.
Yup. One of our A/C units is a floor-sitter too and I had to modify the window slider thingee to make it fit in our window too. I had to cut a new sliding piece out of a piece of hardboard.
well, what happened last night was my aunt has been having my cousin soak her feet in a foot bath massager because she worried about her feet and legs getting swollen, and ive been the one actually doing it …well last night my cousin wanted to go to bed early so I didn’t have her do it …
and wow I was called everything she could think of and I didn’t care if my cousin lost her legs and on and on for 2 hours
it’s not that serious its just things my aunt finds to nitpick on
You’re in my old stomping grounds. We lived in Clay County (just south of Jax) for a total of 18 years. We went to a Jacksonville Suns game (they were the farm team for the Expos, I think) and part of the entertainment was an Elvis impersonator… except he was short, fat, and balding. It was pretty hilarious! I can honestly say I don’t miss living there at all. Hope you enjoy yourself, tho!
We’re home. I have my car back - turns out the a/c issue was because the body shop didn’t reconnect the radiator fan! I’m lucky it hasn’t been stupid hot here. And my alignment definitely got boogered by my accident, but it’s all good now. so YAY!!!
We got a lot done today and we’ve got a plan for tomorrow. Plan for tonight too - chillage!
Hurray for Mumpers helping Mumpers! I looked at one of the videos but I’m a kinesthetic learner and wasn’t able to come up with any helpful advice.
We love you and wish you were feeling better.
Perhaps your aunt should be the one to take care of her own daughter instead of yelling at you over something that is not your responsibility at all.
The first time someone yells at me over something that I am doing for them as a favor is the last time I ever do any favors of any sort for that person.
It’s kinda boring here. Hubs is still spending all his time sleeping and I don’t want to make a bunch of noise doing stuff. Its too hot to play in the yard, so mostly I’m just messing playing games on my tablet.
Dinner is going to be a low carb quiche (no crust, heavy cream, cheese, ham and broccoli) so I’ve done all of the prep work and cleaned that up so making and cleaning up dinner won’t hurt too much. My hip aches when I stand or walk too long so I like to do the prep work and then rest my hip for a while before doing more standing/walking.
We had a very nice soaking rain last night which is always appreciated. I was planning on watering the clover patch today so it was good timing too.
I got class conformation today and it looks like we aren’t going to get our materials ahead of time like promised. This is annoying because project prep is super important for small gauge counted work and we won’t have time to do it in class.
Well, I think it’s time to wake hubs up and make him drink something. He probably needs some ibuprofen too, I’ve been hearing him moan when he shifts position. We are too old to be laying around for days on end, we get all kinds of sore and stuff.
Howdy Y’all! Got the things done this mornin’ and then got back to da cave for sloth, nappage and so forth. A front came through and we got a little rain, but more importantly, the temp dropped a lot. Right now it’s only eighty Amurrkin out. Positively chilly after the past two weeks! Sup got cooked and et as well. I done good if’n I do say so myself!
oopsie, my folks used to take us to town hall meetings, political rallies, etc. A lot of the town hall meetings were more or less meet and greets for county and state politicians, both D and R. Dad would ask us ahead of time if we had any questions that we wanted to ask and tell us to write them out. We were allowed to raise our hand at the meeting and ask a question if chosen. The first one that I recall asking about was about the Chrysler bailout (telling my age here). I think that it sometimes surprised the pols to hear questions like that from a kid.
Yay for the hardware guy nellie! It’s been so many years since I’ve lived somewhere that AC wasn’t supplied by the landlord that I can’t imagine having to plan for that.
{{{shoe}}} I am sorely upset by the SCOTUS decision too.
wheelie, the Bananas sound like a hoot to watch. I’ll have to check them out the next time I’m in Savannah during baseball season.
The oil is changed, groceries bought and some fake crab salad on spinach leaves ingested for supper. I’m thinking a nice peach for dessert.
I took a shower and had a shave so I could be out of the way while SWMBO vacuumed. I got out of the shower, put some clothes on, and went into the living room. SWMBO said, ‘I think I killed the vacuum.’ (Note: There are a lot of carpet pieces from the cat tree.) I called the vacuum repair place we took it before, 15 minutes before they closed. I saw on their website they will be closed from tomorrow through the 5th. The guy said vacuums have an overheating circuit that shuts them off if they get too hot. He said it might be clogged, and I might be able to figure out how to unclog it since I can’t bring it in.
I looked at the first YouTube video that came up on google. The presenter had a Dyson similar to ours, and he began instructing. It looked easy. The really nice thing is that he’d pre-packed the vacuum with cotton balls to show every place it might clog, and removed the cotton balls as he went along.
We’re going to dinner soon, and SWMBO said we’ll wait until tomorrow to look at it. While she was feeding the cats, I took the canister outside. It was clogged. I took all of the hair and whatnot out, figuring I’d check the rest of the system tomorrow. When I put the canister back on, the vacuum started. I guess I fixed it!
ETA: The new Mr. Coffee came. I ran a pot of water through it to clean it out before use. But… The clock isn’t clocking. I set the time, and it doesn’t count. I sent a message to Customer Service, but they won’t get it until Monday.
Frick. The window slider kit has the wrong size vent hole for the hose nozzle–about 3/4" too tall and 1/8" too narrow. I called Frigidaire. 90 minutes later, I find out that they can’t send me a replacement part because they’re out of stock all over the world and have been for some time, so there’s a big pent-up demand. The guess is maybe sometime next fall.
I suggested they take a complete unit they have ready to ship, remove the slider kit, send the kit to me, and sell the unit when they get more parts. Nope. If I can sort of jam the nozzle end in there somehow, I might be able to jerry-rig a gap-filler with foam and electrical tape. I dunno. Handy I am not. I can’t return the unit, so that’s out.
I went back to the salon because the ends of my hair somehow got fried, and now my hair is short and looks thin. I hate it. I’m telling myself a) it’ll grow b) short hair is cooler c) nothing says I have to look in the mirror for the next 6 months d) first world problems.
I was expecting the end of Roe v. Wade, so that wasn’t a shock. But Thomas’ opinion makes it clear they’ll be gunning for gay marriage and contraception. That WAS a shock, and I’m quite upset. I don’t need contraception and am straight, but it’s such a slap in the face to so many people I care about. I’m with you, Shoe. Envision me with one arm across your shoulders and a box of tissues to share.
I normally have a cocktail only on Sundays, but today may be an exception.
I’m hopelessly behind in commenting on your posts. I’m sorry. I’ll do better tomorrow. I love you all.
Evening all. Dinner was microwaved Fettuchini, the local stores aren’t carrying the Lean Cusine brand anymore (or they’re not getting deliveries), so tried the Stouffer’s brand, it was palatable. Otherwise have been internettin’ and now need to go work on Friday’s Triple Sudoku before bedtime. Chance for rain tomorrow has increased to 40%, so we’ll see.
Oopsie, hope you feel better soon. And I’m half-Irish too.
Bumba, enjoy the crazy relatives.
Shady, sorry you’re catching heck for something like that. Deep breaths now…
shoe, second that.
flyboy, congrats for the quick fix on the vacuum.
nellie, good luck with the jerry-rigging, and remember than duct tapes is your friend…
Not sitting on the dock of the bay watching the tide roll away…
@purplehorseshoe, envision me with an arm around your other shoulder. We’ll be like a mini-Mt. Rushmore of uppity, outraged women.
One box of Kleenex between us?~we can make do. I’ll tuck a couple in my bra. That comforts me cause that’s what my mom did when she didn’t have pockets in her gussied up dress. The more like my mom I am, the better I feel. Which is how I justify spoiling Harriet and Sorenson within an inch of their lives. My mom spoiled their mother like that (she was the only girl) and she turned out more than ok. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}} to all. Plenty more where those came from.
