I HATES unannounced compensation stitches. Say something in the directions fer crying out loud.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my firday.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 92 and mostly cloudy for the day with maybe rain. Or not. TWPTB just cannot make up their minds on this. This mornin’ I shall go assist with mowage over to the church house. I have been lax in this thus far this year, so will go today to make amends of sorts. Other than that sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness shall rule the day. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slawdawgs and fries. Fart fest to follow.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall make myself a bit presentable before headin’ out. Don’t have to be a whole lot presentable as grass does not care what one looks like.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Slept in till 6:30!!! Amazing! Now I’m having a PB&J on 12-grain toast while the dishwasher sloshes away (I should have run it last night - oops!) Critters have been tended and I think FCD is in the shower. After I surf (and finish eating and caffeinating) I’ll shower, pack our swimsuits, bag some ice, and we’ll head back to finish rasslin’ with wires.
Today is to be mid-80s with much sun, so the marina will be crowded. We’ll work till Daughter and grands come by, then take a pool break. Once home, I’ll toss a load of towels in the washer and hang them on the lines - they can dry overnight and into tomorrow. So, yeah, exciting plans for the day. ![]()
Happy Saturday and stuff!!
Mooooooom, I initially read that as “…I threw FCD in the shower”.
Need more coffee.
Up, breakfasted and caffeinating. In a bit, I’ll purtify and head up to SIL’s to celebrate her birthday with her.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Up early today for whatever reason. It’s gonna rain. My sinus feel it, the sky is cloudy, and the weather radar shows it. Getting my hair cut later.
Nellie, sorry about the a/c. Take the slider back to the hardware store and pay the nice man $10 under the table to make the opening a hair bigger. Then stuff foam insulation into it. And keep hounding Fridgedaire for a replacement part.
dicey, a travel toothbrush holder would work for your metal straws.
Urgh. Between cats and DH, it took me six hours or more to achieve maybe four hours of poor-quality sleep. Probably going back to bed once the Walmart order is here.
Morning all. Stayed in bed until about 7:15am today, so should be well-rested. The Weather Wizards say 40-50% chance of rain this weekend, I’m rather hoping it shows up, been pretty dry for a couple of weeks. Nothing major on the agenda, may do a little (very little) housecleaning here in a bit.
Everybody enjoy the day.
As I look at the clock, I’ve been up for an hour. I wish I could sleep past six on the weekends.
Good morning and happy Saturday!
It’s currently 54 and sunny with an expected high of 87. Tomorrow we should see 91. Blech! Too hot for me!
I am finishing my coffee with an eye toward hopping in the shower and heading off to the plant nursery.
I didn’t sleep well at all, but that’s nothing new.
I’m going to enjoy the day, hope I don’t bake too much, and just not worry about getting things done.
You all take care!
Mrs. L.A. said yesterday that I should get the air conditioner out today. It’s supposed to get up to 80º Ferret Height tomorrow and Monday.
I’m waiting for the corner market to open so that I can get some eggs for breakfast. I might get a Discover pass too, as The Missus suggested going down the state park to put in kayaks later.
Good morning! It’s sunny with a light breeze here in Northern VA (though it might be more accurate to call this area “West Northwest DC”), but it’s gonna be on the warm side: at 10:41am it’s already 79°F, and the predicted high is close to 90. This is the time of year when my power bills aren’t pretty, but I’m grateful to be able to set my thermostat to whatever temp I want (within reason, of course).
I bought some bananas when I went to the grocery store yesterday, and ate one in the evening. Happily, that went/stayed down with no problem – and, on Thursday I’d been able to eat some apple slices at lunchtime and baby carrots in the evening. I haven’t tried any solid food yet today, but I think I’ll stick with fruits/veggies at lunchtime. I had an extra protein shake this morning, to be on the safe side. Wednesday night’s episode and this resulting recovery are the worst things I’ve had to deal with since November’s surgery…meh.
My volunteer committee is meeting (via Zoom) at 11am, but otherwise I have no plans until my dad and brother arrive sometime after 5pm. Once my Zoom meeting is over I figure I’ll go be a human lump on the couch for a while – accompanied by a canine lump – and then start making myself presentable at around 4pm or so. The cleaners haven’t been here in over a week, but I’m pretty neat and neither of them will notice/care about a little fur so happily I don’t feel the need to vacuum or anything.
Happy Saturday!
Heaved. The Senior Shouting Officer was shouting at Captain Queeg. Not all her fault(the return belt kept going down, so Smalls couldn’t work), but still

Well, he has been spending a lot of time in the innards of the boat… ![]()
We haven’t seen much of Jax, save for the one-mile stretch between the hotel and the ballpark. Don’t plan to do any exploring by car today. It’s been a long trip, and we’re not as young as we used to be. We old men is gettin’ worn out.
We saw a Suns game back in 2001, when their old stadium already had a date with the wrecking ball, and it was pretty dumpy. The new (well, 19 years old now) ballpark is much nicer.
Last night, in addition to the well-attended baseball game, there was an indoor football game at the arena across the street, and a concert across the other street, at a smaller venue next to the Jaguars stadium. The neighborhood was bustling before and after; it was a fun vibe.
Tonight we have plans to meet up with one of the umpires after the game. We met him in a Bar in Mobile in 2017 and have stayed in touch. That random meeting has led to introductions to other umpires in other cities, and it’s always an interesting conversation. One of the neat things about these trips.
And tomorrow, I’m going home!
I think I have the AC acceptable jerry-rigged. I was able to maneuver/jam the nozzle end into the hole (Why does that sound dirty?). I had a foam strip left over from installation, so I used that and lots of electrical tape. MetalMouse, I used electrical tape before I saw your recommendation. I thought about using duct tape, but I needed to tape up some narrow gaps between the slider and the sill (poorly designed slider), and I thought electrical tape might be easier on the paint. The unit seems to be working OK. I invoked my mom’s spirit. She was a terrific handyperson, which is fortunate because Dad definitely was not.
WetOne, I will definitely stay on top of Frigidaire. They have their complaint system set up so you don’t get to talk to a live person. It’s all via email, and I suspect I’ll get a Do Not Reply canned message from them. I may try to get hold of a mailing address and send them a snail mail complaint. I shall be heard!
FCM, are you and FCD almost done with the boat work, yet? I mean aside from the regular maintenance/cleaning stuff? Have fun with those adorable grands!
Oopsie, I hope your tummy is fully recovered.
Did some searching and added some items to an Amazon wish list. Thanks for the suggestion.
This bears repeating. I feel like just playing computer games or sticking my head in the sand.
And more {{{{
}}}} for shoe.
Our not-yet-one-year-old Miele vacuum did this. Hubby had missed cleaning one of the filters. Vaccuum cleaner sucked better afterwards.
You guys are smart.
Cleaned out the fridge - there were a number of expired sauces in there. Doesn’t bother me, but somehow hubby’s stomach knows the expiration date.
Did some economy stimulation and then came home to go grocery shopping and tackle the paperwork.
Decided that’s enough for today and am working on some Kilchoman STR and 70% dark chocolate with sea salt from Theo chocolates in Seattle. I miss the ocean.
Have a good Saturday.
Mrs. L.A. cleaned the vacuum this morning. She found more clogs. There was an amazing thickness of reddish-brown hair encasing the beater bar. I mean really thick. Must’ve covered at least half of the brushes. My hair isn’t that colour. Anyway, it’s seldom long enough to even go around the beater bar once. The cats’ fur isn’t the right colour either, and it’s even shorter than my hair. I’m almost ready to form a hypotheses as to whose hair it is.
I did get a Discover pass. I see it’s only transferable between two cars. We normally drive the Prius on day trips. The Jeep has the kayaks on it. But there’s always the possibility of using the RAV4, or even the MGB to go someplace. (Actually, the only place we’d go in the MG is down the beach.) Maybe I should write the license plates on the pass in pencil…
SWMBO ‘suggested’ I go get the air conditioner now.
Got the a/c set up. I made the exhaust hose as short as I could (~3 feet) and covered it with a towel. It’s only 73º here, but it feels hotter. Personally, I think we’d be fine with a fan; but SWMBO likes the a/c.
Shortly after DH got up, I did go back to bed for a few hours. Woke up curled on one side (actually in the middle of the bed! Buddy’s learning “leave some space for Mom”), with Buddy up against the small of my back and Allie on the other side of the bed cuddling up to my lower legs. My nap helpers did do their job quite well, I’m a lot better rested now. ![]()
