New Kitters

Thanks for the info, @VOW . I dunno if there’s some place in the Quarantine Forum to drop those knowledge nuggets … but that’s a very good explanation, and I am grateful.

Now, back to the topic at hand, I say the orange boy looks quite marmalade-y and thus “Jam” or “Jammy” as short for Jambalaya is thoroughly appropriate.

Also, they are both adorable, as you already know.
Let us know if they sleep with you tonight… :slight_smile:

It’s so nice to hear about such a “love story” during these depressing times. Congrats on your two adorable kitties!

@purplehorseshoe

Oh, I shared that info over on the Quarantine board. Wasn’t even a flicker of one eyelash.

They are too busy arguing that children are “exempt” from COVID, and start throwing around percentages. Stuff like “the probability of a child becoming infected and dying is 0.003%” or some such nonsense.

To the parents burying a child, their kid is 100% dead.

I’d rather talk about kittehs.

It takes patience to train a cat to ignore to its name. I trained a cat to keep folded blankets, sofa cushions, and beds from floating to the ceiling.

Awww, kitties seem pleased with new digs!

@VOW, you just blew my mind. My cat had gut issues for years and I never knew why, but they seem to have resolved. Could that have been it?

Do you know about Suzyn Pupman? A couple woke up to find an in-bad-shape stray dog in their locked house in the middle of the night. Deciding to keep her, they got thousands in donations for her medical care. Seven months & multiple surgeries later she’s doing much better & some of those donations are not being donated toward the cost of adoption of other critters, including dog’s mortal enemies…catz. See SuzynPupman.com for how to get your $100, if interested.

She went viral; literally worldwide when the story broke in Dec & has her own IG page, too.

@Esprise_Me

It very well could have been a coronavirus infection. Especially if the cat was a rescue.

It’s heartbreaking to say this, but I will never get another animal from a rescue organization.

Aww, congrats! Sibling kittens are the best.

So last night went fairly well, Jam jumped up a couple of times to investigate my bedroom window and my water glass but jumped down as soon as I moved. I’m pretty sure Kai spent the night under the bed which seems to be their safe space right now. Little by little they’re spending more time around us but at a distance. Got some scritches in on both of them and they expressed their disapproval at our not feeding them as soon as we were awake. They Hoovered their kibble and drank a goodly amount of water which is a good sign; we’ll try them on wet food tonight. If that works we’ll continue the pattern of dry in the morning and wet in the evening.
I wasn’t sure about the whole one litterbox/cat +1 but I have to say that it is working out well.
@VOW, thanks for all the info on CV in cats, spreading one definitely helps curb the other…
@Spiderman, I’ll look into it, TY.
@Ranger_Jeff, Cats are masters of ignoring their names! :smile:

FWIW, I think the names are staying and shortening them to Kai and Jam works.

As to your failure to provide sustenance to your new Feline Overlords, are you familiar with Simon’s Cat in Cat Man Do?

People say that cat training is hard and takes a long time. I say “Nonsense!” Our cat had us trained in just 2 days.

They are adorable! Those faces, so sweet and devilish, hehe. Enjoy them to the fullest. (I had a Hellcat, a Sydney Hellcat once…miss her terribly.)

Great cats! I like them both on sight, but must admit I’ve always had a soft spot for gray tabbies, which started many years ago with my grandmother’s cat, Minnie. Hope you’re all very happy (and healthy) together.

I actually got some lap time yesterday and they were sitting on each other’s heads trying to get the best spot on the Kattsang (Which is your bog standard Ikea Poang chair that has been commandeered by said felines). More pics in the album.

They look like they’re settling in really well!! What great pics. Thanks for sharing Kai and Jam with us. :cat:

It is absolutely my pleasure. It seems they are helping me as well as I have been battling a bad case of the blahs and I feel a renewed sense of purpose so maybe we’re saving each other a little bit.
