Hey Cool Kids, thanks so much for affirming that this separate-yet-together thought isn’t stupid. Skiffman himself came in yesterday to get a quick root canal, and he and the skipper flew back this afternoon. He is feeling better about the idea. He perked right up when I told him that it would be a place where he could take his hunting rifles out and take them apart on the kitchen table and I would not nag.
Please excuse my focus on me this week My dad called me in frustration the other day, pretty much telling on mom. She isn’t taking a med she needs to keep her brain from marinating in ammonia, and she is refusing to eat, in particular any protein. So when she called me today and I was trying to reason with her and she became all defensive I just fell apart, cried, told her I wasn’t ready to bury her, blah blah, and I was literally trembling by the time she backed down and promised to try really hard to eat even if she isn’t feeling hungry. And right now I think I need to just get on the bed with my comfy blanky and start in on the stack of movies a friend loaned me. Thank you so much for being a consistent shoulder, you guys really are the best ever, and I appreciate you so very much.

Kai- I think this sounds like a really good plan and you shouldn’t feel self conscious about it. It’s really no different than in our larger home when I go hang out in our bedroom and my husband watches TV in the downstairs den- we just need our space!

It’s tile day. As soon as the menfolkses get themselves out of bed, we’ve got to move the washer and dryer, clean the floor areas in the bathroom and laundry room, then start mixing mortar and laying tile. We should be able to get it all down today and grouted tomorrow. Hope so… I may not be popping back in till way later today. Soldier on without me!

Nuthin’ much planned for today. The dog park and cleaning the kitchen (and that includes the floor, young lady!) I got a few movies yesterday, maybe I’ll watch one. We watched “The Bank Job” last night. It was pretty good! Based on a true story, it was a bank robbery actually set up by some government officials to get some compromising photos of some muckymuck from a safety deposit box.
Well, gonna go surf a bit.

In parental news, Mom is home and gushing about the family vacation we forced her to go on (really, she needed to organize her room (or some other random part of her apartment)!!!). So glad we insisted. And envious because A) they went to Hautulco, which I’ve never been to, and B) stayed at a very nice resort with beach and pool and nice food and everything.

Cookin’ stuff is all done. Well, the dip stuff is crockpotting (it is too a word!) away and should be ready to eat within the hour. Good thing it’ll be ready cause I’s hongry and want me some dip. JoeDawg, Daddy, Partner and JoeDawg Aunt will be here shortly. It’s cloudy out but we’re still gonna hang at the pool. I’ll be the one runnin’ around tellin’ everybody to put on sunscreen even if it’s cloudy. Sometimes I channel my mother.

Good morning everyone. I’m up and the coffee is brewing. Plans for today call for us going to brekkies and then a classic car show. A guy we’re friendly with at the Y is working the show and asked us to come.
After that, we’ll head back home and start working on cleaning out and rearranging the garage again. We’ve got to get it done.
We’re slightly bummed that our daughter won’t be able to go on our little trip to the Olympic Penninsula on the coast with us this next weekend. She has to work, unfortunately.
kai, here’s hoping that your mom will start eating and taking her meds. Parents can be so stubborn sometimes.

I am shocked and appalled at your treatment of JoeDawg, swampy. He is soooooooooo spoiled.
I’ve dug up and divided 3 more kinds of daylilies. I’ve got 4 or 5 more to go.
Also went to the little farmer’s market that sets up around the corner Saturday mornings and got: one kohlrabi, one head of lettuce, a basket with peppers, summer squash, potatoes and cucumber, and a mini-loaf of sweet potato bread.
Just had lunch and will now proceed to paint.

Well, time to get cleaned up. We played just a little too long this morning. I wish the sun would come out.
Lunch break! We’ve got all the full tiles down. We just got back from the rental place getting the saw for cutting the tiles that’ll have to fit around the corners and edges and stuff. It’s looking mighty fine. **FCD ** has been doing all the down-on-the-floor stuff, SIL has been toting and handing tiles, and I mixed the thinset mortar. When we return to work, I’ll be cutting the partial tiles, **FCD ** will be back on the floor, and SIL will be toting the pieces that I cut. We should finish in a few more hours.
Tomorrow we grout.
We had a thunderboomer scoot thru earlier, but it’s sunny and muggy right now. Possibly more rain later - hope it holds off till after I finish cutting tiles - it’s a spattery job that’s gonna be done in the yard.
I’m sick of working on the apartment. Wish it was done, but I see at least 2 more months of work. Oh well…
Back to work.
I’ll have to get in touch with her, but I just heard that MamaTigs is down with the same cold that PapaTigs has just gotten over, so I think the chances of her doing the MMP next week are pretty slim.

Hi guys. Long time no see.
I’m feeling kind of sad and alone today so I thought I’d stop by and depress everybody else too.
Today I went to SockLady’s son’s wedding and the reception is in a couple of hours. I’m doing this alone because TVMan’s son wanted to spend time with him and that doesn’t happen very often. While I understand why it’s important, I’ve still been varying degrees of upset all week. Today at the wedding SockLady’s sister and brother who are folk musicians played before the ceremony. One of their songs that they played was “Our Song” for my ex-fiance and me. It’s not exactly top 40 so it’s not something that you just might hear on the radio and it’s been a long time since I heard it. Also, the last time that I went to any wedding was with my ex and it’s all just made me kinda sad. I don’t really blame TVMan, I guess it’s just a bad situation and a day filled with emotions.
