Aw, {{{Pie}}} - sorry you’re having a bad day. If it’ll make you feel better, you could sneak over and push **swampy ** into the pool…
We’re done for the day. And we’ve got enough tile leftover to do the landing at the foot of the stairs - yay! So **FCD ** will do that tomorrow, as well as grout our work from today. SIL and I will sand and mud in the bedroom until he has to go to work, then I’ll continue as much as I can till I poop out. I expect tomorrow will be a short-ish day.
Daughter and friend will be home on Weds, long enough to do laundry and have dinner before they have to be back to camp. Last session starts tomorrow. I’ll be glad to have my baby home full time again. Although I don’t know what she’ll do then. Turns out she never got around to doing what had to be done to get certified to teach in MD or VA. She hasn’t taken the Praxis exams, and I don’t think she’s even applied for certification, so she’s not going to be teaching. No, I have no idea what she was thinking. For a smart kid, she can be dumb sometimes. Guess she’ll have to be satisfied being a substitute or a server or something till next year. Sheesh…
I’ve got a nice pair of scratches down my left arm, thanks to Taz. I was trying to lift him up on a shelf so he could look out the basement window, and he got nervous and dug into my arm. There was blood. It looks lots worse than it is.
And there’s a nice London broil in the rotisserie, some N.O.T. chunks boiling on the stove, and peas-n-carrots being nuked. I fear we all may be too tired to eat. I’m thinking supper will be the last great exertion of the day.
skimmed - tired -
Happy Belated B-Day mmousie
and didn’t I miss BooFae’s or someone else’s birthday as well? - Happy Belated to you (whomever I missed) as well
–still tired - bye
I just talked to my buddy Rick the Deputy. The Sheriff department doesn’t have hideout cameras, but he did point to an electronics dealer in Bugtussel where I can get one. I’s goin’ shopping tomorrow.
He also confirmed Sharon’s past criminal history.
Changing the subject, VWife and I went to VA Beach today, and bought molds and specialty doodads to make a rabid beaver cake for the rescue squad dinner Monday night. I have $50 invested in a joke, so it had better be funny.
It’s a rabid beaver BBBobbio! How could it not be funny?
The sun decided to come out and it got waaaaaaaaaay hot and humid. We came in around four this afternoon. Supper was steak, those Friggin’ Good N.O.T. and sallit. There’s cake for dessert later on. Everybody’s too stuffed for it right now.
Does anybody else think Sarah Maclachlan (whatever) sings like she’s in pain? That’s the consensus here. The drinkin’ of adult beverages always causes deep philosophical discussions to ensue.
ETA: {{{CutiePie}}} sorry you’re havin’ such a sucky day. You could always go track mud all over MOOOOOM’s freshly laid tile. That might make you feel better.
Yay for CutiePie returning to the MMP, and many HUGS for her. Also sending good thoughts her way.
Yay for FCM finishing up work for the day! Sorry that Taz gouged ya, though - bad kitty! Hey, did you ever find out what was wrong with him? Did he have a UTI or was he just being a really bad kitty?!
We’ve got tandoori chicken cooking and boy does it smell good! This tandoori sauce I got at Whole Paycheck (aka Whole Foods LOL), and it’s supposedly all natural and all organic, so I’m hoping that it tastes good; it’s the first time trying it. I does smell delicious at least. We also have naan bread to go with it.
Almost forgot! I hope MamaTigs doesn’t have the same cold I do - it’s a doozy! Sending good thoughts her way too.
Well, is everyone out whoopin’ it up on Saturday night? No posts for almost three hours. I’m about to turn in for the night. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we watched Sordid Lives. I’ve had a chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah glued to me. I’s sleepified.
I guess everybody ducked and covered. Home from work. Not too dizzy tonight, but I stepped in somebody else’s dog poop tonight.
swampy, glad you crockpotted instead of crackpotted. The you, JoeDawg, and the guests would have ended up hiding in a closet with tinfoil hats on.
{{{{Pie}}}}} Sorry it was a bad day, but welcome back.
I got a zipcar tonight to do some shopping at Target. It was a good thing too because Hawkeyeop and I had a lot to get! We spent a lot for us.
About half of it was big things-- a storage thing for my craft stuff; another storage thing for Hawkeyeop’s stuff; and a microwave, because I blew our old one by running it with nothing in it. I was setting the timer, but I guess I took too long to think about how long I wanted to set it for, and it timed out of timer mode. There was a big popping sound when I stopped it. It no longer cooks stuff. So, yeah, had to get a new microwave.
The other half of the Target stuff was mostly basic stuff that everyone needs–shampoo/conditioner, laundry detergent, stuff like that. I can’t believe how expensive all of that stuff is! It certainly adds up anyway.
Also, I got a third grader in a pretty poor school all of his/her school supplies for the year. My department is adopting a third grade class and different people are buying a backpack and filling it with the school supplies that the kids need. They never gave us a gender breakdown of the class though. It was impossible to tell if girls’ stuff or boys’ stuff is needed more. So, I got everything gender neutral; that was harder than I thought it would be! I had to get a basic black back-pack–it’s kind of boring. I was thinking about putting some fabric paint in it, so that whomever gets the supplies can decorate them. Does that sound like a good idea? I also thought about getting some stickers for the notebooks, folders and such.
It’s Sunday and I’m up early - big surprise, huh? Sir Taz apparently wanted to be *really * sure that I was asleep because he climbed on me then got close enough to my face that I got a whisker in my nose. That is an unpleasant awakening. So, I’m up. Critters are fed. Teeth are brushed. **FCD ** and SIL are both still dead to the world.
I just checked the hours of the convenience center - 8-5. Since SIL is working all afternoon and evening, I’m going to suggest (insist??) that we make a run first thing. The garage smells like cantaloupe, which means the garbage cans are getting ripe (I cut up some 'lopes earlier this week) plus both basement trash cans are full. So we can load up the van and have the garbage and recycling taken care of in about 30 minutes. Then we can work. Yay.
I’m hoping to get some studio time this afternoon. Craft show in just over a month and I have no new stuff to display. I don’t think I’ve done any real clay work since January. I’d like to get a kiln load, and I can if I throw some big pieces - like some large flower pots and critter bowls. That’s the plan, anyway.
Oh yeah, and today is exactly 35 years since I arrived in Orlando for Recruit Training (boot camp) at the now-gone Naval Training Center. I enlisted on a whim, and what a change it made in my life. I can’t imagine where I’d be or what I’d have become had I taken my dad’s offer of $95/week to work in his office. I probably would have turned into one of those crabby old women who worked for him. Whew - dodged that one!
Ms Coffee, your behavior is shocking. Just shocking I tells ya!
It’s amazing how easy it is to fill a cart/car at Target, isn’t it, mousie?
ETA: I know, Taters. I’ve actually seen kohlrabi here at the grocery, but I figured it would be better if I was buying it from the farmer. Not sure how I’m going to prepare it… Gotta remember how I made it last time. Seems like there were potatoes and ham involved.
I’m awake and was thinking I’d fall asleep again, but I’m very awake, so I guess I’ll get up and get something done.
I googled “kohlrabi recipe” and got a whole list from Simply Recipes. Several of them sound yum. Of course, I spent too much time looking at a few of the blogs connected to the recipes. But now I’m regretting buying only one.
I’m having the remaining sweet potato bread for breakfast and am going to go out and divide the remaining dalylilies before getting ready for churchification.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. I’m the only one astir. Some adult drinkage was still occurin’ when I went to bed. That’s why I insist on crashin’ at da cave when that happens.
Soon I shall purtify for churchification. I made a corn casserole to take for brunch. I have a feelin’ I’ll be goin’ by myself. Actually though, if it weren’t for the fact that I am a Lector this mornin’ I would be skippin’ out too. Not because of hangover but because it’s just kinda one of those lazy feelin’ days.
Ok, off to perform beautification and get a casserole all heated up.
I never did clean the kitchen yesterday. ReboSon called and said that he had no power at the old apartment, and couldn’t shampoo the carpet. I told y’all he was moving into another apartement, in his own name, right? He’s been in an apartment in my name for over two years. I’m a proud mama!
Anyway, we took over an inverter (?) that was supposed to give enough electricity to power the vacuum and the shampooer, but all it was capable of was powering a fan. We also took over a cooler of water. And we helped clean, when it was 98°F outside - with no air conditioning. OMG, it was hot. But we got it all cleaned out. The carpet looks bad, but what can we do. If we have to pay cleaning fees, so be it. I was thinking when I had the power turned off on the 1st that it would roll over into the apartment’s name and still be on. Nope.
Anyway, his new apartment is within walking distance of his new job. Everything is moved in, and it’s very nice. He and his roommate actually work at the same restaurant, and that’s good. He even has a view! The old apartment overlooked a parking lot.
I’m really excited for him, and hope he gets it together finally.
So today will include, grocery shopping, cleaning the kitchen, and taking Ernie to the groomer’s - the little fuzzball looks like a hippie!
