HIPPO BEARDAY, SWAMPY!!

Checks preview–yup, that’s tacky, yet heartfelt!

Bobbio, you would!

Neck rub for Rigs

Purty sparkly there, Dotty!

Poor Flutters, hope all gets fixeded…

Add me to the list of those puzzled by what a Magical Hoo-Ha is/does. Iz a pozzlment!

Happy shoe thoughts for Haze!

My calf hurts like I’ve been climbing mountains in my sleep. WTF is up with that, anyway?

Mmm, I smell cawfee, laterz…

I need to figure out what to do for my Software Tip of the month. It’s my turn to come up with a tip. Before I did shortcut keys and that was well received. This time around I have no idea.

Happy Birthday, swampy!!

And yes, swampy, Methodists do have Confirmation. I took the class and stuff when I was ~13. I think that’s pretty standard. It’s not as formal as Catholic Confirmation, but I don’t know enough about the Episcopal process to know how it compares. Ours was very casual: we met with the minister once a week for… I don’t know, probably 6 week, and then we had the service where we joined the church. That was it. I think the church I’m in now though has a much longer (like a whole semester) process so it’s probably more varied than some other groups.

Me either and yes. It’s been so humid here for the last couple days that we’ve had to have the AC on overnight, but it’s wreaking havoc with my sleep. Bleh. I hope it cools down soon.

And yes, I’m a big Me Time kind of person. Fortunately, KT was out of town last night so I had the whole evening to myself. I was even going to order Papa John’s (KT doesn’t really like it.), but the local store had a power outage! So no pizza for me.

I am a little concerned about what’s going to happen when, someday in the undefined future, KT gets a job closer to home. Right now he leaves at 6:45 and comes home at 6:15 so I get an hour alone in the morning, often an hour alone at lunch (if I go home from work), and an hour after work. I’m not going to be a happy taxi if that suddenly all evaporates. I’ve been bugging him for 2 years to get a hobby or join a group that gets him out of the house one night a week. When he gets a job closer to home, we’re going to have to have a Serious Discussion about giving me some alone time once a week. Going out of town overnight ever 3-6 months does not count. Hopefully the incentive of a kinder, gentler taxi will help. There are times when I’m really jealous of my friends who are in LTRs but who each have their own house. Yeah, it costs a lot more, but one’s sanity might be worth it!

I’m home with a story to tell. But first…

OOOOOOH Dotty sparkly shiny ring and shoes to match!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes y’all! Makes me feel real special.

I got a snail mail card from BBBobbio with that most sentimental birthday sentiment of all…

Happy Birthday Ya Old Fart!

Heart cockle warmin’ I tells ya!

I got ecards from MOOOOOOM and Rebo. Funnnnnneeeee!!! Hee!

Oh and rest assured there will be appreciation tonight. I also get ice cream cake and champagne. It’s a tradition.

Now for the story.

I started out this mornin’ really good. Goin’ to meet ol’ y’all know who for brekkies then go to work. Ok, so brekkies happened and I start to work. I was drivin’ twuck today for some reason. Anywho, I’m behind this dump truck and a rock flew out and busted the windshield. Right in the center. Of course the dump truck keeps on goin’. Anyways, since I was near work I went on in cause I had stuff I needed to take in that I’d worked on at da cave yesterday. I told ‘em what happened and that I needed to go see my insurance agent and start whatever I needed to to get the windshield fixed. The good thing about comprehensive insurance is that I don’t have a deductible for stuff like cracked windshield. So, off I go to see good ol’ Tim. He looks at it, tells me to come inside, gets on the phone and five minutes later I have an appointment with a local glass company to get it replaced. So, twuck is gettin’ a new windshield. The folks at the glass company brought me home even. It’ll be finished sometime this afternoon and they even offered to come pick me up if I need ‘em to, which I won’t cause ol’ y’all know who will take me to pick twuck up. That’s my story. Excitatin’ huh! Oh and lest y’all think I’ve decided to be a birthday slacker, I have work stuff to do for the rest of today and tomorrow, bein’ as tomorrow is a telecommute day. I like this workin’ from da cave thing a lot.

There is one fortuitous thing from all this. I have decided that when twuck’s insurance comes due in September I am droppin’ coverage down to what I just have to have since I only use him around town these days. So, I guess it was a good thing I decided to drive twuck if I just had to get hit with a rock while I still have comprehensive coverage.

Life. One great big adventure.

OOH! I got an ecard from a friend that’s the Arrogant Worms singin’ The Happy Birthday Song. HEE!

I got you the card because of the front, and you don’t even mention it to the Mumpers.

ETA: I just got back from the doctor’s office, for a happy reason. I got all updated on my shots, 'cuz they’re required for EMT school. I’s gonna go back and get my Intermediate shingle, starting 25 August.

That’s a lovely ring, Dotty, and I approve of the shoes.

It’s so hot, and I’ve been bleeding so heavily that I actually feel light-headed. (Sorry, TMI. Deal with it.) Early bed for me.

I am now in deep mourning for Scrabulous. :frowning:

What a weird way for someone to give you a new windshield as a birthday present!

It’s just what I wanted! How did you know clear was my favorite color?!

Flutterby, I hope you get the insurance thing squared away with a minimum of hassle and sailing over counters.

I can so relate to the “me time” thing. Unfortunately, I really don’t get any either. Someone is always home or with me. Frankly, the only “me time” I get is on the commute to and from work. Not exactly quality time, is it?

Glad to see you got a shiny new windshield with a minimum of fuss, Birthday Boy. I hope your day is as nice as you are!

I am a tired** Taters** ** today. I could literally crawl under my workstation, curl up and take a nice nap.

Well, back to the grindstone…

Urgh. Tired today. Nat seems better. My Dad wants to come over and wash dishes, so I’m creating dishes for him to wash. I’m doing a big pot of beans with a smoked turkey leg. Some will be soup, and some will turn into chili. Yum.

They got it fixed.

What happened is what I figured once I calmed down and noted dates. You see, since my car is older than 12 years I need an inspection done. They gave me insurance for two weeks to get it done and handed in then it would extended in full. So I turned in the inspection papers on the 12th (they were due the 21st) and paid the remainder of my policy for six months.

Well the girl who took a copy of the inspection sheet made a note of the payment… but not that I had handed in the inspection sheet. So my policy was cancelled on the 21st like they told me it would be if I didn’t hand it in.

The nice lady took my info again, made me a new policy, used the check they sent me of my refund to pay for it, and made a note in my file that it wasn’t my fault.

So I’m on the road again, but damn that was a shock to open that letter!

Where is everybody? Only 2 posts in the last 3 hours!

It’s sunny and almost 90 out. Why am I at work instead of sitting by the pool?!

I’m here, I’m here! I’m ordering books on Borders. Have been looking for the past hour or so. Great exciting life I lead here. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m here- just met with a student and should head home…

Parents had a bad day yesterday and I’m feeling a bit blue and not chatty…

ordering books might help, though…

AWWWWW… don’t be mad BBBobbio. The front of the card was a bear with it’s mouth open like  and a pair of those plastic google eyes glued on. The inside said “YOU’RE HOW OLD!!!???”

I took a little break from the work pile. Actually I’m not worried about gettin’ it done cause I have tomorrow to work through it too.

gotti the least they could do is write happy birthday on the windshield after they install it.

Anyone who wants $5 off of each regular priced book at Borders.com just put in this code at the end: BR41925 You can have it shipped to a Borders store for free, or if you have over $25 in stuff you get free shipping as well. So far I have 52 books in my cart for $29.32. Christmas gifts and books for me. I have a TON of under $5 books there for myself. A lot of classics that I’ve been meaning to buy. Free books for me! And if I don’t like them, I can toss them on PaperBackSwap.com

Running errands. Do you think you can freeze falafel batter?

I kept forgetting. **Beebs ** thank you for the comment on my blog!!! I love comments and you made my day.

**LiLi ** from what I googled, it sounds like you can freeze falafel batter.

Yay for an insured Flutter, Scourge of the Highway!! :stuck_out_tongue:

**Haze **-- hope you feel better tomorrow. Obviously no personal experience, but does not sound like fun :frowning:

**Ivory **-- hope your parents are better. We’re not getting any younger, nor are our parents… :frowning:

Rigs, **Taxi **-- I’m with you on the “need ME time every so often.” Don’t get nearly enough of it…
