I’m happy to announce the appointment of two new SDMB moderators. Bone will help moderate Great Debates and Elections, while Chronos will help moderate Café Society. IvoryTowerDenizen will shift from Café Society to IMHO. Hal Briston has retired from moderating duties with our thanks. Longtime users will recall that Chronos moderated years ago; we’re astonished that he’s agreed to do so again, but grateful nonetheless. Likewise, we’re pleased to have signed up Bone while he was in an agreeable mood; he’ll realize what’s he’s gotten himself into soon enough.

Please join me in welcoming Bone and Chronos to the staff.

Chronos was actually sort of Pitted once fifteen years ago, when complaints about moderation went in the Pit. So Bone is the only virgin with regard to complaints.

Back in the day, Chronos was a real slacker. He couldn’t hold a candle to manhattan in terms of Pit threads.

Huh. Y’know, I’m actually not certain that I ever even saw that Pit thread, back when it was active. Though it seems to me that I did see at least one Pitting of me, at some point or another, and another where one poster pitted another because of a perceived injustice against me.

No idea what I actually think/anticipate/imagine how is eagle eye and rationality will play there. Just, huh.

What was he/were you mod of before? (Pit? Whew.) Do you anticipate a different type of note-and-warning comments or amount from this crowd (e.g., “username is a fucking moron who wouldn’t know a Mozart symphony from a Bach fugue. A Trump voter, no doubt”).

I miss many of those people. Missed Fenris for a while, but he came back. Look forward to the day I can miss him again. Manny was almost pleasant, IRL.
