I just want reiterate this. This both sides thing not a good thing.
Stop it. Abusers are very good at making their victims they did something wrong,too. That they have a mutual problem they both need to work on.
That we need to work it out together. You’ve done nothing wrong. You were as good to them as you possibly could’ve been. The would not have treated you differently under any circumstances unless you gave them everything they wanted.
It’s a gaslight. The Trumpublicans have been relentlessly gaslighting liberals for four years now. We need to cut them off and cut them out NOW.
If they really want reconciliation, they will all stand up and acknowledge Joe Biden as the legitimate President of the United States. But I can promise they won’t. I’d love to be wrong, and if I am I’ll gladly admit it.
I’ve been in a psychologically abusive relationship, not with a romantic partner but quasi-foster child in his late teens. It’s insidious if it’s relentless. It got me, and I am forever grateful to the therapist that caught it. The one I went to with the intent of trying to work out my problems with the kid.
That is what this is. If they stop this rebel cosplay and stop pretending that an illegitimate government is taking office, we’ll talk.

This is the same senator who a year ago, after the Senate refused to convict Trump’s impeachment, said she figured he’d learned a valuable lesson and would never do something stupid again. I would say the answer to your question is, “No.”

That’s hardly “ZOMG teh wipepo are Iranians!!!1!” It was a statement of her initial misperception of what was happening, not a misperception based on actually seeing the traitors. I imagine she wasn’t the only one who misunderstood at first what was happening, since it’s typically not the case that even angry protesters become seditionist assailants, and especially so when one thinks they’re members of their own constituency.
On 9/11, had I had reason to write an op ed, it might well have included a statement such as “When I heard a plane had hit the World Trade Towers, my first thought was that the pilot had had a stroke or heart attack.” Then your headline might be “Idiot Bystander susan Thought Terrorist Had Medical Emergency.”
Again, I don’t care for Collins and could argue that I would have perceived the threat as more likely to be the rallying Trump supporters, but since that was a novel event, I can see where one might think a foreign power with whom the administration is at odds was seizing a moment to attack that would be both dramatic and damaging to the government.
In any case, the proliferating article headlined “GOP Sen. Susan Collins thought the mostly white pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol was ‘the Iranians’ at first” or similar suggests she looked out the window and thought those white rioters were Iranian. That’s not what she described.
While everyone is focused on the people who were killed in the terrorist attack on the Capitol and the threat to American democracy, let us not forget those who are the real victims of this insurrection:

The article you linked said that Facebook said it was a mistake. And they only blocked one admin temporarily. Given how hard they are working to block calls to violence on the platform right now, I’m willing to give them a chance on making mistakes.
Right now, Facebook is finally doing the right thing, which means it’s a bad time to attack them. You don’t attack your allies in the war until the war is over, or they cease to be allies.
