NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

It’s so predictable that the messaging has morphed from “these deaths are lies, didn’t happen, and if people died it probably wasn’t from COVID” to, as the numbers become large enough to be un-ignorable “just stop talking about these deaths, we don’t want to obsess about the past.”

Did someone buy one?

Well, he kept dropping the crayon and it broke. What’s he supposed to do?

Shoulda used a Sharpie like his hero.

He kept sniffing it and his nose got all blackened.

The Republicans are good at keeping their messages simple. No nuances, just straight poker face bullshit.

But I’ve thought that we’re sometimes wrong when we think that Republicans don’t understand the impact of pocketbook issues – they do, and maybe they’ve understood it better than modern centrist democrats who emphasize government spending but not enough of spending in ways that go directly into voters’ pockets.

The stimulus bill in 2009 was just the kind of example I’m referring to. It was a major whiff for Democrats, who believed that they were winning with wonkishness, but they fucked it right up in terms of not giving people direct stimulus when they really could have used it. They instead gave tax breaks for putting solar panels on people’s homes. They followed it up a year later with a mandatory tax bill if you didn’t go out and get insurance - not that more insurance is a bad thing but it doesn’t necessarily help someone who’s barely clearing rent each month.

I think the Dems are getting a little smarter in this respect, and I hope it continues. Put - money - in - people’s - pockets. Full stop. Let the Republifuckers call it socialism. Let them call it whatever the hell they want. Keep putting money into the pockets of working class folk. Make low-cost training and technical education a priority. Raise the minimum wage. Strengthen unions. Keep doing all that. This is what made Democrats a really strong party until about 1980.

The Republicans will too easily pivot to calling that Welfare and fostering dependency and buying loyalty. Because of course, it’s “bad” if you rely on the society having a mutual duty to support one another to have medical care and not starve, but it’s good and righteous and God-ordained for you to be at the mercy of your employer’s bottom line for it. (For a bunch of ostensible “Christians” they are the biggest Social Darwinists …)

Seeing’s how the Battle of Thermopylae took place in 480 BC I find it amusing that almost all of the Molon Labe stickers and tattoos use Attic Greek letters rather than Doric, as Leonidas would have. I’ve seen a few but they’re rare.

It’s like using Born in the USA at your campaign rally.

What the fuck could possibly go wrong?

Do not taunt Happy Fun Cop.

Cops in Kentucky be like…

Congresswoman Maria Salazar:
" So proud to announce that the Biden Administration has just implemented my bipartisan COVID relief bill as part of @SBAgov policy!"
She voted against it.

So right-wing Twitter has decided that Loser Donald is looking “fantastic” and “better than ever before”… and these are the photos they’re circulating to prove it;

He looks like he’s barely even bothering to put on his makeup anymore, let alone freak out any liberals.

Trumpy without makeup could scare the pee out of any sentient being whatever their political stance.

Trump with makeup.
Trump without makeup.
Each is worse than the other.

Donald Trump, disgraced ex-president, is now working as the elderly greeter at an overpriced, gaudy country club.

Sounds about right, tbh.

It’s like the Ouroboros.

Is there a version of the Ouroboros where the other end is a large ass instead of a narrow tail and the Head is partially shoved up that ass? That would be Trump.

I was going to mention the guy who ran around in ever-decreasing concentric circles until he disappeared up his own asshole. No need to now.
