It would serve that prick right if when they arrested him, they’d cuff his hands behind his back and put a big Patch Adams nose on him for the perp walk.
The Republican National Committee is planning an aggressive counterprogramming campaign as President Biden sets out to promote the popular COVID-19 relief package he signed into law last week.
…
While Biden is on the road, the RNC is planning to saturate the airwaves with local surrogates on radio and television casting the relief bill as a $1.9 trillion “boondoggle” full of blue state bailouts and pet projects for progressives.
…
“Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress have let down hardworking Americans by passing their $1.9 trillion boondoggle of a spending bill, with only nine percent of the money targeted to fighting the pandemic,” said RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.
…
Um… this seems really stupid to me (therefore, I endorse it). Do the Pubs think that a parent who just got a check for several thousand dollars, plus other real-world practical assistance is going to care about labels like “progressive” and “boondoggle”? Ya gotta give 'em credit for being true to their ideology, namely, being against-against-against without presenting any better solutions to the problems that people are struggling with. And if they care so much about “fighting the pandemic,” why aren’t they jumping on the Vaccination Bandwagon? Never mind. Rational questions are not permitted, I know.
Mitch takes off the gloves. He must really be scared.
…
What they’re saying: McConnell warned on the Senate floor Tuesday that if Democrats eliminate the filibuster and Republicans take back the majority, “we wouldn’t just erase every liberal change that hurt the country — we’d strengthen America with all kinds of conservative policies with zero, zero input from the other side.”He promised that a Republican majority would immediately defund Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities, push abortion restrictions, ramp up security on the southern border and more.
“Nobody serving in this chamber can even begin, can even begin to imagine what a completely scorched-earth Senate would look like,” the Republican leader warned.
Fuck what might be good for the country, eh Mitch? This is why I always hated him more than trumpy.
If you invent fire, I will use it to burn everything to the ground!
What input did they take from the Democratic Party when they appointed all of those judges while Trump was president and refused to do so while Obama was president? The Republicans in Congress already practice scorched earth policies.
Truly,
we’d strengthen America with all kinds of conservative policies with zero, zero input from the other side.
This is different from the current Republican policy in what way?
Well, he is in the top 50 so far…
Yeah, McConnell could not be making it clearer that his party is simply the Anti-Democratic Party, and has no governing agenda other than opposing what Democrats support and supporting what Democrats oppose.
I had not previously been particularly in favor of ending the filibuster, but this sort of naked minoritarianism makes me think that maybe we should just get rid of it for the sake of not catering to minoritarian obstructionism. We already knew that the Republican Party isn’t interested in actually “strengthening” the country, but instead just playing partisan politics. So why keep deferring to them as though they were actually good-faith partners in governance?
So in other words, he’ll do what he was doing when he was in charge.
Tucker Carlson is so “outraged” by the performance of “WAP” at the Grammy Awards, he decided to air it multiple times on last night’s show.
The Washington Examiner says that the naturally subservient Irish race will make excellent cannon fodder for our inevitable war against the Yellow Peril.
Try to find someone to take the bet that Republicans, if they win back the Senate in 2022 (or 2024), will NOT nuke the filibuster—and then do all the stuff MoscowMitch listed here. Just try.
Mitch is just terrified that the Dems will remove their own shackles (by getting rid of the filibuster) before he gets the chance to do so.
(These ‘be nice to us or else we’ll stop being nice to you’ arguments are hilarious, especially coming from Mitch “no Supreme Court picks for Democratic Presidents, ever” McConnell.)

Meanwhile, in Mississippi:
He’s taking a leaf from Texas’ well-thumbed book.
Nowhere in that article does he give a reason.
He doesn’t have to spell out the reason. This is Mississippi. From the article:
Nearly 60 percent of people who’d gain health insurance as a result of Medicaid expansion in Mississippi would be people of color. The vast majority of those people are Black.
A long, long time ago, a student at the Art Institute of Chicago painted a picture of the former Mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington, in lingerie. It was rumored that when he died in office (literally - in the mayor’s office), they found lingerie under his suit. It was displayed at the school (not at the main museum) in a student display that no one outside of the school saw (for the most part). A bunch of aldermen got their panties in a bunch (sorry, couldn’t resist), and made a big stink about it, culminating with a news conference where EVERYONE could see the picture with a message of “See? This is what we didn’t want you to see!”
Ah, of course. I missed that. That bastard!
Thankfully it was before the Age of Memes, The Washington Effect would be ever more confusing than The Streisand Effect.
This language makes me want to vomit. Here’s a man who has turned his back on any sense of bipartisanship or commitment to governance. He’s in a war, and the only objective is to crush Democrats. Like, what kind of deplorable people want this as their voice in government? “Liberal changes” are by definition “hurting the country” and “conservative policies” by definition “strengthen America”?
Is Romneycare a “liberal change” or a “conservative policy”?
(I know, this is nothing new, it’s just reading/hearing powerful leadership in America spew things that are so counter to our Democratic processes and ideals should always be remarkable)
The thing about Mitch I can’t figure out is WHY? He’s not monetizing this, unlike trumpy who wouldn’t take a piss unless he could make money from it. Mitch is old and doesn’t seem to want to be Emperor of the World or anything. He’s not bucking for a Noble (or Nobel) Prize. Does he want Scorched Earth to be his legacy?
Was he frightened by a Democrat when he was nursing at his momma’s breast (sorry for that visual)? Has he always been this way? I gather that there was a time when cordiality existed between him and Biden. What makes Mitch tick?
