NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

And no doubt, if he is lucky enough not to fall deathly ill, he’ll claim it’s all a hoax.

He and Bill Barr walked into the Congressional hearing yesterday side by side, sans masks. He also was one of the first Republicans to talk during the hearing, so his virusy germs were all over the microphone.

He’ll probably recover with minimal symptoms and then he can proclaim it’s (1) a hoax, and (2) No Big Deal. “See? I didn’t wear a mask and I didn’t die!”

I wish I was a better person and there wasn’t a part of me that’s laughing inside.

But I’m not.

The chief economist for the Texas Public Policy Foundation tweeted out a celebratory tweet this morning that only old people and Hispanics are dying from the virus.

Wonkette is a great site. Not subtle. They let it all hang out.

Gohmert thinks a mask maybe gave him COVID.

I thought the liar said he didn’t wear masks.

More from my Wonkette link. I guess he had one on for five minutes once or something.

…The far bigger news, of course, is that Louie Gohmert, in keeping with his declared mission of always being the stupidest dumbshit in Congress, is jes’ wondering if maybe it was wearing a mask that made him catch the Rona in the first place. In an interview with East Texas TV station KETK, Gohmert told anchor Cynthia McLaughlin he suspected that might have been the case. Jesus this idiot:

I can’t help but wonder if by keeping a mask on and keeping it in place, that if I might have put some germs, some virus, some of the virus onto the mask and breathed it in. I don’t know, but I got it, we’ll see what happens from here, but the reports of my demise are very premature.

When McLaughlin asked what he thought about several East Texas counties where authorities have said they won’t be enforcing the state’s mask mandate, Gohmert chuckled and said,

I think … this used to be what was called a free country, and people could do what they thought was appropriate, and if somebody feels strongly about everybody should wear a mask, then they shouldn’t be around people that don’t wear masks. But I do feel that once somebody has been found to have the coronavirus, that they should wear a mask, preferably not even be in public. […] I think that’s important.

Perdue. Is he in any way involved with the Perdue chicken I see at the store? Need answer, not fast, but need answer.

David Perdue? or his cousin Sonny Perdue?

From Wikipedia re: Sonny Perdue:
“Perdue is not related to the family who owns and operates Perdue Farms (commonly associated with “Perdue Chicken”).”

NM with 5 minimum characters for fuck’s sake.

So where did he think the germs that he might have put on the mask came from? Walmart?

When are these dumbasses going to buy the clue that the mask is not there to keep you from getting the virus – it’s to keep you from spreading it to other people!

Either never or when they’re all dead, whichever comes first.

As long as it isn’t after I’m dead because of their idiotic bleats about their freedom.

nm, nm, ffs, nm

I like the “very few kids die” part too. I mean, if it’s only a few, that’s OK right?

Louie Gohmert lives in his Congressional office and will be quarantining there, much to the consternation of his colleagues.

“Louie Gohmert lives and sleeps in his Capitol Hill office,” Rep. Gerald E. Connolly (D-Va.) [said in a tweet. “Now that he’s tested positive, he cannot be allowed to quarantine there. He’s put Members and staff at enough risk already. I wish you well, @replouiegohmert. But you need to figure out a better option.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/rep-louie-gohmert-who-had-been-scheduled-to-travel-with-trump-tests-positive-for-coronavirus/2020/07/29/3a0974f2-d1a6-11ea-8d32-1ebf4e9d8e0d_story.html

Well, that’s also their attitude about school shootings, so yes?

That’s the hypocrisy of “Pro-Life.” This movement isn’t pro child, it’s pro fetus. These kids have to get born at all costs. But once they’ve turned into live children walking around who need health care, education, child care, enough nutritous food to eat, safe homes and neighborhoods, fuck 'em. They’re on their own and so are their parents.

You just cannot make this stuff up:

Why is Donald Trump Jr amplifying a quack who believes in ‘demon sperm’?

…Dr Stella Immanuel. A Houston-based pediatrician and pastor of a church called Fire Power Ministries, Immanuel made internet history on Monday after she spoke on the steps of the US supreme court with a group of rightwing physicians who refer to themselves as America’s Frontline Doctors. (The group is supported by the conservative Tea Party Patriots.) In comments that were live-streamed by the far-right Breitbart News, Immanuel brashly stated that “Covid has a cure” in hydroxychloroquine, a claim that has been roundly rejected by the medical establishment. She also said that, with hydroxychloroquine, she can “stop Covid in its tracks in 30 days”. Then she invited the world to look her up.

[snip]

…Dr Immanuel believes that serious gynecological problems are caused by women having sex with “spirit husbands” (ie demons) while the women are in their dreamworlds. Sommer explains Immanuel’s views this way: “Real-life ailments such as fibroid tumors and cysts stem from the demonic sperm after demon dream sex.” SOURCE
