When they run again I think I’ll attend their rallys and say, “I’m concerned that you are reptiloid shape changers from Zeta Reticuli who have taken human form. This is demonstrated by your utter lack of knowledge on how elections work in this state, either the process or its traditions. I demand you cease your campaign until you prove me wrong.”

Perhaps this is a new trend we should look for in Republican messaging: hide your violent-overthrow-of-the-government encouragement inside a sure-to-anger-sensible-people crunchy outer coating, and your message will go much further.

Pay attention to the symbolism of barbarity when it is applied by a political faction that intends to use undemocratic means of gaining power. If we’ve learned something from the Trump era, it’s that the symbolism of brutality often portends barbarity and cruelty in reality. The brutality is a litmus test, and the commonly referenced ‘bad guys’ of history used cruelty’s symbolism to those who shared their values. And it almost always escalates. Yesterday it was caged migrant children. Today’s abortion laws that endanger pregnant women and WWII-era gas. Tomorrow…something else. Count on it.
