NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

In the interest of fair play, here is a link with the full transcript of MTG’s apology.

It’s not bad, considering who it came from. We’ve got:

I consider this a solid apology, an “I said something hateful and stupid” apology, rather than a “You thought I said something hateful and stupid” apology.

I consider it an apology that someone else wrote, and she read as though at gun point.

I doubt she will have actually learned anything from this episode.

Even if she didn’t write a word of it, it’s still coming from a member of the double-down-on-idiotic-statements-and-never-admit-to-a-mistake party. So maybe, just maybe, there is a limit to their depravity. Hey, it’s a start.

Unless republicans get the Executive branch, the Senate, the House and Supreme Court.

The bad guys already have the Supreme Court, and the Senate is hamstrung - 1.9 out of four.

Dan

Ugh, this shit again.

She only apologized because a Democrat filed a censure against her.

And they’re gunning for the Supreme Court…

Fortunately, the filibuster rule has been suspended for court appointments (otherwise Amy Covid Barrett would have been blocked by the Democrats last year), so if Breyer retires this or next year, Turtle will be slit up a treat.

Say a prayer every night for Ben Cardin (77), Sherrod Brown (69), Bob Casey (61), Maggie Hassan (63), Pat Leahy (81), Angus King (77), Joe Manchin (74), Ed Markey (75), Bernie Sanders (80), Jon Tester (64), Elizabeth Warren (72), and Chris Van Hollen (62).

Those are the Democratic senators over age 60 from states with Republican governors. Throw in the senators from Georgia and Arizona as well if you want, though they’re younger. I’m neither an actuary nor a gerontologist, so I can’t give you odds on all of them making it through the current session, but if one of them dies in office, Mitch McConnell will be majority leader again, and then we’ll all have to start praying hard for Stephen Breyer.

That’s how tenuous the Democratic hold on the Senate is.

In Arizona the governor picks but the replacement has to be registered in the same party as the one leaving or deceased. I would suppose there are enough DINOs to go around, though. I can’t imagine Ducey taking input from the Democrat officials.

Actually, Casey is from PA, and while our legislature is largely Republican, the governor and Lt. Governor are Democrats.

John Barrasso said he wants to make Biden a half term President, Not sure what he’s aiming at. Republicans controlling both Houses, impeachment, or shooting him on the streets,

The governor of Maine, Janet Mills is a Democrat.

Also, the states of Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and North Carolina each have two GOP senators…and Democratic governors.

Neo-Nazis want to move to Maine and form a white supremacist state.

Shoulda remembered that. I could see Ducey picking the worst possible nonentity for the job. Kinda like he did to replace McCain…

Should have remembered both of these too. For some reason, Paul LePage really sticks in my mind.

Thanks, folks, I feel a little bit better.

They just won’t stop until they successfully rewrite history:

After complaining that the Justice Department is looking into the Arizona audit, Trump’s new spokesperson refers to January 6 as a “peaceful protest”.

I raised exactly this question in another thread a few weeks ago. I think it was about the possibility of Moscow Mitch not lasting out his term:

It was then pointed out that, at least in some states:

Tom Cotton is worried that China will harvest DNA from our Olympic athletes and use it to breed super-soldiers.

Norway has won more medals at the Winter Olympics than the US. I hope he warned them as well.

If we ever fight the Chinese on frozen lakes, we’re done for.
