NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

Do you think the Republicans in Winnebago County know any of that? I doubt it. They don’t even understand their own beliefs. Why should they care about others’?

For now.

Until they’ve rebuilt the Temple and fulfilled their role in the runup to Armageddon. After that, they’re in the same boat as the rest of the heathens: accept JC as TheirPersonalLordAndSavior™, or rot in Hell for eternity.

Disclaimer: That last is not my personal opinion, but I have heard it expressed by a number of Fundamentalist types. Including some to whom I’m related.

I just wanted to say that the Headline “NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the day” is fun but it’s the little blue “625” after it that really shows the accelerating idiocy.

Not really. I could go into the LDS Geneaology Library in downtown Salt Lake City – anybody could. (Did a lot of historical research there, in addition to researching my own family history).

But I wouldn’t have ben able to get into the Salt Lake Temple (which was a separate building across the street) without a Temple Recommend from my bishop. assuming I was LDS and had a bishop.

Yeah, building that wall (which BTW is impossible as the Texas-Mexico border is 1,954 miles long) is much more important that getting control of COVID in Texas. After all, it’s all those illegals who are bringing it in, amirite?

And don’t forget Abbot’s other Good Works…

Abbott also moved to revoke state licenses from shelters housing migrant children as he declared an emergency in counties along the border earlier this month.

1,254 miles
Which is still pretty damn long. And since when does a state get to wall off a federal border?

ETA: 1,954 is the entire US-Mexico border.

Oops. Thanks for the correction.

I think most mainstream Americans consider Jews as honorary Christians. Yes, they have a few quirks, they only read half the bible, go to Church on Saturday, and call Christmas Hanukkah. But they look like us and have pretty well taken up our culture. Also by bringing them into the fold we can claim to be open minded about religious differences without having to accept something really foreign.

I’ll bet if we use a small enough ruler we could get it to 1,954

The vast majority of which, if not all, is the Rio Grande River.

New York state Republican officials had a straw poll for governor. Andrew Giuliani got zero votes. Even abstain got 10%.

All. The surveyed portion of begins at New Mexico and continues to the Pacific, with a brief interlude where it follows a bit of the Colorado (if there is even any water in it). Perhaps Abbott should consider a border wall with New Mexico, since that is mostly 500+ miles of straight lines, with only a little bit of river.

Nowadays, sure, but once upon a time

Congressman pat Fallon “neglected” to report over $17 million in stock transactions.

Every time Texas Republicans talk about building the wall, I always think of this old joke. The names change over time but the basic joke is the same.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said Tuesday she will allow wealthy people of her choosing to hire the SD National Guard to do their bidding.

Well, she used slightly different terms, but the upshot is the same.

How…mercenary.

Leather Tuscadero Slap, slap, Pow!

So, red states with their own private armies?

What could go wrong?
