NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

I can only gather that all these red state goons will be heading down there with the drooling intent of busting ass on those all those rapey poors and wetbacks to SHOW THE LIBS HOW TO GET THIS CRISIS FINALLY UNDER CONTROL.
I look forward to them amicably cooperating with existing border patrol with the utmost impartiality and deference. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Is this only for wealthy donors or can anyone get in on the act?

I’d be willing to kick in a couple of hundred bucks to have some guardsmen deployed to my backyard to deport the invading greenbrier with extreme prejudice.

Is that the kind of reputation the National Guard have, whether in general or in red states in particular? I didn’t realize their image was that poor.

South Dakota. National Guard. Mexican border. Privately funded.

Fucker Carlson claimed the NSA is spying on him. The NSA says domestic security is not their duty.

“Of course he’s a real NSA whistleblower! He refs my kids’ National Soccer Association games!”

“intelligent” can replace “intelligence” in that headline.

Yeah, and the NSA doesn’t lie. Not that I think the NSA is spying on Tucker, just saying them denying it proves nothing.

The real point is that Tucker is arrogant enough to think he’s worth spying on.

Besides, there’s no point in spying on someone who doesn’t know the meaning of an unexpressed thought.

Using the word thought grudgingly.

This…is bizarre…

Eh. Jack Palance did it better.

Yeah. Bingo.

That’s the job of the FBI, thank you very much!

Why? Is it a Pride month thing? How….enlightened of them.

The Governor of South Dakota is sending state National Guard to the Texas-Mexico border. It must be a flex thing for those considering running for President. But a private right wing millionaire is funding it. So, they’re creating private armies now.

So, if the government isn’t paying for it, can the guardsperson refuse the call up? They aren’t working for the state government, so I think there is an argument that they aren’t actually performing Guard duty.

Nope. Money is money. It’s not like they’ll be getting their paychecks signed by Willis Johnson. He’s just paying the State of Whothefuckcaresanyway the amount it will cost to deploy the troops. Maybe. But I doubt his donation covers more than 1/3 the cost to the state.

Sounds like money laundering. I don’t expect it would actually work, but I would love someone to challenge their deployment. The donor doesn’t even live in South Dakota, so he can’t even pretend it is some sort of tax payment.

I agree. A court challenge would prove embarrassing to Noem and would probably derail the deployment completely.
